PAG E 1 8 PROGRAMME INSERT Gala Italia Artists Biographies Orchestra Internazionale d’Italia F ounded in 1986 and based in Fermo, Italy, the Orchestra Internazionale d’Italia (www.oidi.com) performs widely throughout Europe, has toured Central and South America and Asia, and won the European Prize for Culture. Canadian Maestro Kerry Stratton has conducted and recorded in North America, Europe and Asia. He directs the Grand Salon orchestra and Toronto Philharmonia, is a Sunday host on The New Classical 96.3 FM, and holds the Czech Republic’s Gratis Agit Award from the Czech Republic. Award-winning soprano Francesca Ruospo trained at Milan’s Accademia Teatro alla Scala. She has performed widely in Italy, at the European Parliament, and in London, Chicago, Abu Dhabi and Beijing. Her Toronto debut follows her starring role in October as the Contessa in La Scala’s Marriage of Figaro. One of Italy’s leading composers, Carlo Boccadoro has had his music performed by leading international artists in major halls throughout Europe, and in the United States and Japan, and in jazz festivals. His catalogue includes chamber and jazz compositions, operas and a ballet. Gianluca Podio is well known as a composer and orchestrator of music for RAI and Italian-Swiss Television, radio, film and theatre. He has toured as a pianist and conducted orchestras internationally with major soloists.
