Netherlands shines at 2015 Trentino Rookie Fest Rookies Bastiaansen and Barnhoorn stand out at the slopestyle contest A fourth edition kissed by good weather conditions and a new wave of young riders from all over the world, nothing better could be asked at snowpark Monte Bondone. The five-days of freestyle snowboarding kidnapped the heart of 85 little promises from 14 worldwide Countries. The finals took place on the snow given over the last few days by a sky brighten up today, with no wind at all. So the freestylers could express themselves in tricks which brought to the podium 3 winners for each category. The Dutch went noticed during the quali already, but today the land of tulips and Flemish art crowded the podium: Erik Bastiaansen and Max De Vries earned the first two places among the Rookie Males, shooting generous rotations on the XL jump, such as Cab 900 Tail, Bs 900 and Switch Bs 720 melon, combined with a stylish jibbing sprinkled with 270 in and out, as well as Bs 180 in and Cab 360 out. Russia comes back with a third place, represented by Vlad Khadarin, with an admirable Best Run where tricks such as Fs Blunt to 270 out, Fs 900 indy and Switch Bs 900 tailtouch stand out. But the Dutch coloured also the steps of Rookie Females with the veteran Babs Barnhoorn, awarded first prize for the very clean rotations in her remarkable Bs 360 tailtouch and Fs 360 indy. Among the Groms we find again Switzerland with Rupp Elias, who amazed the crowd with his Fs 720 and Bs 720, while French Lucie Silvestre follows her Rookie colleague with less rotating but more refined tricks. In the last two days the guys could get ready for this final day with a program both sporting and cultural, which brought them discovering Trento, on the steps of history and narration of the city from its fascinating historic centre to the Aviation Museum G. Caproni. With a serene atmosphere of international friendship, the competition made riders’ real skills emerge in a constructive way. The high number of Groms was an impressive element: 47 out of 85 participants were under 14, showing a powerful renewal among the new snowboarders. The World Rookie Tour writes once more a white page of international freestyle snowboard future.
