EDUCATION
2004. Degree in mechanical engineering, biomechanical specialization, Polytechnic of
Turin, Italy; title of thesis: “Characterization of new steel for car body”.
2010. Ph.D. in metallurgical engineering, in collaboration with ILVA (Italian Steel maker)
and FGA (Fiat Group Automobiles). Title of my work: “standardization of materials
characterization and relative database realization”. I started to collect all material’s data
already present in FGA department, I analyse them and I understand what data missing for
simulation of formability, fatigue, durability and crash, so I planned new test for these data.
For these we need some new machine and I followed also purchasing . At the end I create a
database for sheet steel, ready also for storage other kind of materials.

Academic and European project:
I hold contact with university and I support Politechnic of Turin for Prin2010 project about
Twip (twinning induced plasticity) steel, we have works in progress about E modulus of
sheet steel, another about low of springback effect and their application. I’m involved in an
European project (REFORM) with Fraunhofer Institute and other partner for biaxial
behaviour of material as produced, after preformed (rolling/ stretching/ deep drawing/
Marciniak/ biaxial tensile) and after spot/ mag/ laser welding, studing also fatigue. I work
with SUPSI (university of Lugano – Swiss) about dynamic test, we start to work with sheet
steel and we will continue in the next year on bulk metallic and plastic materials. I work
with University of Pisa – Italy on Hydrogen Embrlittment for introduce a new test in CRF
for Ultra High Strength Steel and Press Hot Forming; we already analyze all aspect that
occurs during material and component production and we are ready to study the possible
Hydrogen accumulation during the life in the car component.

CRF rules:
I’m responsible for homologation of new sheet steel grade and new steel supplier.
I follow research and development about steel and tools, I develop new test on material and
I manage them for introduce these tests in Fiat Standard. New test for 2011 (till now FGA
don’t have this data or ask for it to a steel supplier) will be: hole expansion, Nakajima for
Forming Limit Diagram, buldge test for biaxial coefficient, Hopkinson bar for ultra high
strain rate, Hydrogen embrlittment, Strain fatigue and combination of it with stress fatigue
for have Manson-Coffin curves.
I’m responsible for material’s benchmark (Fiat buy some reference car and test it on the
road and on the labs, at the end cut some samples from every interesting part and analyse
materials)
Responsible for material’s curves, I manage permission for database’s access for FGA (Fiat
Group Automobiles), Iveco (commercial vehicle), CNH (Case New Holland), FPT ( Fiat
Power Train), MM (Magneti Marelli), Chrysler people and supplier.

Responsible for FGA curves, I work with ICT department and we put materials database on
FGA intranet; I manage permission for all FGA people.
I start to work with new test and I manage purchasing of new tools.
I work with purchasing and quality department for material testing and control.
I planning and follow stress fatigue test for new material.
