Logistics remains a key challenge with
limited air transport to reach areas that
are not accessible by road. An additional
five logistics hubs are being established
in Parsa, Chitwan, Gorkha, Kavre and
Sindupalchowk districts.
UN Flash Appeal calls for $415 million
to respond to the humanitarian needs
for the next 3 months. As of 04 May, the
appeal is $7.5 million (2%) funded. More
funding is urgently needed.
A 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck
Nepal on 25 April at 11:56 local time
causing large scale damage. The
epicenter is located 81 km northwest
of the Nepali capital Kathmandu at a
depth of 15km. Hundreds of aftershocks
reported including a 6.7 magnitude
earthquake. The Government of Nepal
requested international humanitarian
assistance on 26 April.
