Dear Colleagues, It is my greatest pleasure to announce to you that SIUCP (Italian Unitary Society of Coloproctology) has trusted me, once again, with the organization of the II “World Congress of Coloproctology and Pelvic Disease Innovation and current debates”. And I take this opportunity to thank the SIUCP for their trust and also to thank everyone that contributed in a way or another, to the outstanding success of the first event held in Rome two years ago. For this second edition, we have decided to keep Rome as the place of the conference, since it offers the richness of history and monuments. As a matter of fact, we have selected as the icon of the Congress, one of its monuments: the famous “Bocca della Verità” (The Mouth of Truth). The Roman legend says that if one told a lie with his hand in the mouth of the sculpture then it would be bitten off… Fortunately we won’t be doing this… surgeons need their hands! The aim of the meeting is to focus on technological and scientific innovations and evolutions while pointing out the controversial aspects of the various pathologies. The Congress structure foresees an interactive debate between world-wide renown experts and the attendants. The topics will be deepened by live surgery: the latest innovative operations of colorectal and pelvic pathologies will be privileged. Special attention will be addressed to those pathologies that are still lacking of satisfactory therapies evaluating the results according to the criteria of the Evidence Based Surgery. We are doing our best effort to offer you, despite the low budget, an interesting program throughout the conference and the social activities. It is my pleasure and honour to let you know that all world-wide experts invited have enthusiastically accepted to contribute. With your help, we aim to have a Congress that will give a useful contribution in the practice of Coloproctology. Arrivederci a Roma, 5.00 - 6.30 pm CROHN’S DISEASE Chair: V.
