Position and grant
Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna announces a call to assign one Research Fellowship to perform research
activities in Biorobotics Institute in the scientific fields ING-IND/34 Industrial Bioengineering. The
gross amount of the fellowship is € 19.367,00 per year. The present fellowship cannot be cumulated
with other fellowships and grants except those aimed at financing a period of stay abroad necessary
within the research activity. The duration of the research fellowship is one year, and can be renewed in
case of positive evaluation of the research activities performed.
Research activity:
Design and development of a sensory-motor coordination control system based on bio-inspired neural
network for robots acting in simulated environment
The main research activity concerns the development of brain-inspired computational algorithms for robot
control. In particular, the objective of this research is the modelling and implementation in a neural simulator of
bio-inspired neural networks for the control of robots performing sensory-motor tasks (mainly locomotion) in a
simulated environment. The research activity requires in-depth knowledge, proven by previous research or
professional activity, of robot control strategies and commonly used sensors on mobile and humanoid robotic
platforms (i.e. encoders, cameras, inertial sensors). The ideal candidate has also programming experience with
C,C++, python, languages. Preference will be given to knowledge of bio-inspired neural networks for robot
control.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must hold or a MSc Degree in Computer Science or in Computer Engineering.
