Curriculum vitae of Annalisa MARCHITTO, PhD
Annalisa Marchitto was born in Genoa, Italy, on
December the 26th, 1972.
He received his master degree in Mechanical
Engineering in October 1997 (points 110/110
"summa cum laude"); and his Ph.D in 2003, all
from the Engineering Faculty of the University of
Genoa, Italy. His degree thesis concerned the
reconstruction of natural convection heat transfer
from a horizontal isothermal plate by schlieren
tomography; the doctorate thesis concerned the
experimental and theoretical study of a new
approach for predicting the intermittent behaviour
of gas-liquid mixtures in pipes.
December 2005: employed at the University of Genova as research
Professor.
Permanent position
Researcher at the Department of Production, Thermal Energy and
Mathematical Models, (DipTem), Faculty of Engineering, University of
Genova, Italy.
Teaching
Since 2006, Professor of “Fisica Tecnica 1” (Applied Physics 1),
Mechanical Engineering, La Spezia.
Since 2006, Co-Professor of “Fisica Tecnica” (Applied Physics),
Industrial Design, Genova.
Since 2006, Co-Professor of “Uso Razionale dell’Energia e Risparmio
Energetico 1” (Energy Rational Use and Energy Saving 1), Managerial
Engineering, Savona.
International collaborations
She is also involved in a research programme carried out at SChEME,
University of Nottingham, regarding the experimental analysis of twophase flow mixtures (Prof. Azzopardi group). In 2006 she spent 3
months at SChEME, University of Nottingham, where se was concerned
with an experimental activity on the effects of a combining junction on
gas-liquid mixtures flow.
Research activity
The research activity of Prof. Marchitto has been developed in the fields
of engineering thermodynamics, heat transfer, thermal control and
energy saving, indoor air quality.

- experimental slug and annular flow, dynamic void fraction
measurement, flow and phase distribution, pressure losses in
singularities;
- evaluation of the pressure losses and phase distributions in
singularities and BHE parallel channels during intermittent and
annular two-phase flows; (ALFA LAVAL Grant);
- Application of schlieren tomography to heat transfer reconstruction in
free convection (three-dimensional reconstruction algorithms analysis);
- Experimental investigation of hospital operating room air distribution.
