International Course in Microbial Ecology
Exploring microbial community functioning
in aquatic ecosystems
OGS, Trieste, Italy, November 9 -13, 2015
The Sixth International Course in Microbial Ecology will take
place at OGS-Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e di Geofisica Sperimentale, Trieste, Italy. The course is dedicated to advanced master
and PhD students, post-docs and young researchers interested in
microbial ecology of aquatic environments and in bioinformatics.
The course will teach microbial ecologists to measure and analyze
the activity and the functioning of aquatic microbial communities
with practical and theoretical sessions under the guidance of international exper ts.
Topics and techniques covered: sample collection and processing for prokaryotic abundance estimation by epifluorescence microscopy and by flow cytometry. Measurements of exoenzymatic activity
and functional metagenomic analysis.
Par ticipation is limited to 25 applicants, selected on the basis of
their CV and motivation letter. The registration fee is 370€ per
person and covers the full par ticipation to all the course activities
including tutorial material, lectures, protocols, lunches and social
events.
DEADLINES
15 September 2015 – Deadline for application: send a short CV
(max 1 page) and a brief motivation letter (max 200 words)
15 October 2015 – Payment of the registration fee.
2 November 2015 – Submission of the contribution for the personal
presentation (.ppt file)
9 November 2015 – Beginning of the course - afternoon
