One of the themes for this week at Cascina Triulza is volunteerism. CSV Net presents the
National Report on Volunteer Organizations on the afternoon of Monday, October 19,
from 14:00 to 18:00. The report, the rst of its kind in Italy, is a product of a partnership
between CSVnet and the IBM Foundation Italy, and is drawn from a census on more than
44,000 volunteer organizations. Following the presentation, there will be a showing of the
MAY 1, 2015 – OCTOBER 31, 2015.

Family farming in Africa and alternative businesses
Wednesday, October 21, from 10:30 to 13:30, an event is planned on The challenge of
today held by PLEF - Planet Life Economy Foundation. The meeting revolves around which
conditions will facilitate change in the economic sector. This will be a morning to move from
theory to practice, gathering examples of real entrepreneurship and companies that are
already experimenting with an alternative business model.
Thursday, October 22, from 14:00 to 18:00, a meeting will be held on Food and family
agricultural systems in Africa presented by CONAF to look at the knowledge of traditional
farm systems that often represent the most sustainable kind of management for the planet.
Thursday, October 22 there will be an aperitif with guests, music, Ambassador for Expo
Milano 2015 Demetrio Albertini and comedian Gene Gnocchi. In the afternoon from 14:00
to 18:00, an event entitled Land grabbing and denied access to natural resources in Africa
organized by the General Management of Cooperation for Development (DGCS) – Ministry
of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI): this will be a chance to discuss
the challenges that face the poorest communities in Africa in getting access to natural
resources. The Italian government’s priorities will be presented along with strategies to
promote food security and access to the country’s natural resources. Also, the project
ActionAid will be introduced.

Drones and climate change
Childrens Lab, cheese samples, bruschetta and herbs to be discovered, with something
new: a cooperative appetizer from Thursday through Saturday
Bread, garlic and extra-virgin olive oil DOP from Umbria: these are the ingredients for classic
bruschetta that can be tasted free in the picnic area every Saturday and Sunday from 11:00
to 17:00. Every Wednesday, Cascina Triulza will host a Mosaics Workshop using recovered
materials, suitable for all ages. Every Thursday and Friday, Cascina Triulza will hold

Saturday, October 24, from 11:00 to 14:00 the schedule includes an examination with
volunteers from Ethical Bank who have set up a route between the most meaningful
pavilions at Expo Milano 2015. The objective is to examine State approaches, businesses and
trans-national organizations in agriculture, resource management and distribution of assets
and what everyone can do to change things. A guided visit with a volunteer associate can be
reserved, wherein volunteers make their time and expertise available to small groups of
people so they can see the Exposition site in a new way.

On Friday, October 23, the week ends with “Let’s play with drones - Drone Park”: a show
organized by Talent4Rise in collaboration with the Fly Lab Zero association and ABN Srl Parrot. The object of the game is to get visitors to understand how to use drones, especially
in the civil sphere. A team from the Polytechnic of Milan will be available to provide news on
possible uses for drones. The game will use land drones, hybrids that not only y but also
drive over on the ground with two or four motorized wheels. On Friday but from 18:30 to
20:30, see the Best Climate Practices Award 2015 organized by ICCG, the International
Center for Climate Governance. This year’s competitors presented existing projects and
innovative ideas for creation, promotion or development of “water smart” solutions,
sustainable water management systems that are resistant to climate change, or strategies to
use water resources better in agriculture and food production and to resolve problems with
water usage. A selection of the participants’ best ideas will be presented by ICCG
researchers during the event. Among the speakers, look for Michel Camdessus, Chair of the
FEEM advisory board; Carlo Carraro, ICCG and Ca’Foscari University of Venice; Raffaello
Cervigni, World Bank; Frank Convery, University College Dublin; Alberto Garrido,
Universidad Politécnica, Madrid and Aurora D’Aprile, International Center for Climate
Governance (ICCG).

by “Cooperative Appetizers” with a lavish free buffet. Plant species and cultivated herbs on
260 square meters in the green heart of Cascina Triulza can be visited every weekend, thanks
to students at the Università degli Studi of Perugia and those from the ve Umbrian Agrarian
Institutes. All the taste of Padano DOP Wheat can be sampled in the Soresina Dairy space,
free, every day from noon to 17:00. Finally, three times a day there are Childrens Labs:
workshops for children about water, food and recycling, in collaboration with cooperatives
and associations (at 11:00, 14:00 and 15:30).

Professor Jim Skea elected co‐chair of the IPCC's Working Group III, focussing on climate change
mi ga on and op ons for cu ng emissions. Professor Skea, who is Chair in Sustainable Energy
at Imperial College London’s Centre for Environmental Policy, will serve in the posi on on the
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) un l 2022.The aims of Working Group III will
be especially important in the wake of the Conference of Par es 21 Paris climate summit in
December. Countries mee ng at summit will aim to achieve a legally binding and universal
agreement on climate, with the goal of keeping global warming below 2°C.

Pendant que notre planète se transforme et que
ses ressources se consomment de plus en plus
rapidement, nous commençons à
constater les effets du changement
climatique non seulement sur l'environnement, mais aussi sur nos vies
et nos sociétés : de la sécurité hydrique et énergétique jusqu'à la santé,
les infrastructures et l'économie. Les
phénomènes météorologiques extrêmes, jadis assez rares, se reproduisent désormais assez fréquemment,

et frappent les territoires et les populations les plus diverses. Ce sont évidemment les communautés les plus
exposées et les plus vulnérables - souvent localisées dans les pays en voie
de développement - qui souffrent le
plus de ces impacts en termes de vie
humaine, alors que ce sont les pays riches qui en voient les impacts économiques, en raison de la destruction
d'infrastructures et de biens de valeur.
La COP21 discute de possibles architectures mondiales pour la gestion
des gaz à effet de serre et négocie avec
les différents pays leurs engagements
pour stabiliser la hausse de température en dessous de 2 degrés d'ici à la
fin du siècle. Mais il est désormais
clair que cet objectif sera difficilement réalisable. Agir pour la modération des changements climatiques à
travers le contrôle des gaz à effet de
serre (c'est-à-dire surtout décarboner
nos économies et augmenter notre
efficacité énergétique) est certainement nécessaire et urgent, mais ce ne
sera probablement pas suffisant. Il
faudra réduire les émissions, mais il
sera aussi fondamental de prendre des
engagements à long terme pour s'adapter au réchauffement climatique,
c'est-à-dire protéger nos systèmes économiques de ses inévitables impacts.
Le premier pas pour cela est certainement de prendre conscience que le
réchauffement climatique est sans
aucun doute le plus important des
problèmes économiques auquel nous
devons faire face, et pas uniquement
un problème environnemental. Plus
que le chômage ou la crise monétaire.
Plus que la récession ou que la réforme
de nos systèmes de retraites.
Et c'est bien parce qu'il s'agit d'un
problème économique que ce ne sera
que grâce à de nouvelles stratégies
d'investissement dans le secteur énergétique, à de nouvelles politiques
pour les infrastructures, et à un nouveau modèle de développement durable, que nous pourrons contrôler ce
changement.
Il nous faudra donc prévoir une
croissance à la fois durable et inclusive. Une croissance qui respecte les
besoins de développement des régions les plus défavorisées, qui soit
efficace dans l'utilisation des ressources naturelles, et qui minimise la
pollution et les impacts sur l'environnement. Rendre notre croissance
plus « verte » est nécessaire, efficace
et économiquement profitable. Il est
possible de démontrer qu'investir de
manière à contrôler le changement
climatique est avantageux par rapport aux coûts que nous devrions
soutenir si, en choisissant d'ignorer
ou de repousser le problème, nous
devions nous trouver, dans quelques
dizaines d'années, à comptabiliser les
dégâts de phénomènes météorologiques de plus en plus extrêmes et
des ressources naturelles de plus en
plus rares.
Tous - individus, entreprises, communautés, institutions - peuvent décider dès aujourd'hui de choisir de
manière cohérente leur consommation, leurs modes de transport, les ressources et les services qu'ils utilisent,
leur politique budgétaire, etc. Ce n 'est
pas le destin de la Terre qui est en jeu
(elle survivra aisément à l'humain), ni
la protection de l'environnement qui
nous entoure. C'est de notre bien-être
et de notre développement économique qu'il s'agit. Ceux des futures générations, mais aussi ceux des générations qui vivent aujourd'hui sur notre
planète. Ceux des systèmes économiques et urbains qui viendront, mais
aussi ceux des systèmes dans lesquels
nous vivons actuellement.
Les changements climatiques constituent un problème économique parmi
les plus importants et urgents à résoudre. Agir immédiatement est avant
tout un impératif éthique, c'est aussi
une stratégie économique gagnante. ®

Cari orecchietti di popolare network,
Come ricorderete - figurarsi - nell'ultimo microfono aperto sugli scopi dello sviluppo sostenibile, poi
approvati dall'assemblea dell'ONU, avevamo accennato ai cambiamenti climatici. E ieri pure, a
proposito della diffusione delle malattie tropicali ben oltre i Tropici.
Questo sabato dalle 9.30 alle 10.30 ne riparliamo, perché fra le notizie della settimana ce n'è una che
nessuno si aspettava. Entro il 30 settembre, i 196 paesi che hanno firmato la Convenzione dell'Onu sul
clima dovevano comunicare di quanto intendono limitare le proprie emissioni di gas serra da qui al
2030 per cercare di contenere il riscaldamento globale entro i 2°C. Una sessantina era stata puntuale.

bufale, A qualcuno piace caldo, e partecipa con esilaranti power-point a spettacoli teatrali da
esso derivato con attori di cabaret;

Delegati di 140 Paesi, riuniti in assemblea plenaria in Croazia per l'elezione del bureau dell'Ipcc (il
Panel Intergovernativo sui Cambiamenti Climatici) hanno rinnovato l'incarico all'economista italiano
Carlo Carraro che sarà ancora vice-presidente del gruppo di lavoro sulla mitigazione dei
cambiamenti climatici, alla riduzione delle emissioni di gas serra e della loro presenza in atmosfera
(Working group 3). Temi che saranno al centro della Conferenza mondiale sul clima (COP21) a
Parigi dove a dicembre i governi dovranno definire un accordo globale.

Professore ordinario di Econometria e di Economia dell'Ambiente presso l'Università Ca' Foscari di
Venezia, di cui è stato Rettore dal 2009 al 2014 e direttore del dipartimento di Scienze Economiche
(ora di Economia) dal 2005 al 2008, Carlo Carraro è, tra l'altro, membro del Comitato Strategico del
Cmcc (Centro Euro-mediterraneo sui cambiamenti climatici), direttore dell'International Center for
Climate Governance e direttore Scientifico della Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei.

"Possiamo augurarci che questo sia l'inizio di un nuovo corso, in cui l'Ipcc lavori con più efficacia,
con meno rigidità burocratiche e con maggiori interazioni con il mondo della policy e i governi di tutti i
Paesi, migliorando inoltre le proprie tecniche di comunicazione", ha detto Carraro commentando la
rielezione e la nomina del nuovo direttivo dell'Ipcc, a partire dal presidente eletto, il coreano Hoesung
Lee.
