Il Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Knoll è Managing Director dell’AIT - Austrian Institute of Technology ed uno dei più importanti ricercatori a livello mondiale nel campo della Scienza dei Materiali, delle biointerfacce e delle bionanotecnologie. L’AIT è il più grande centro di ricerca non universitario dell’Austria. I principali ambiti di ricerca in cui il Prof. Knoll è stato coinvolto fanno riferimento alle proprietà dei polimeri e dei sistemi bioorganici a film sottile, alle superfici funzionalizzate ed alla biomimetica, dando maggiore enfasi alle tecniche ottiche (plasmoni di superficie, ellissometria, ottica non lineare e spettroscopia vibrazionale). Il prof. Knoll è autore di più di 1000 articoli scientifici pubblicati su riviste internazionali (fattore h=83).
