2 Monte San Salvatore
Mit der Drahtseilbahn, von Paradiso erreichbar, bietet den Monte San
Salvatore einen herrlichen Ausblick auf den See und die Alpen. Restaurant
auf dem Gipfel mit herrlicher Panoramaterrasse. Museum mit
Gegenständen der Erzbruderschaft von Lugano, eine Ausstellung mit
Fossilien, Mineralien und Speläologie der Region, die Geschichte des

3 Monte Brè
Seit 1912 führt die Drahtseilbahn zum Gipfel des Monte Brè, ein Ort der
viele Gelegenheiten für die Freizeiteinrichtung der Besucher bietet. Sie
können an einer ruhige Lage Grillen, oder Familien Wanderungen machen,
bis anspruchsvolle Ausflüge in den Bergen. Vom sonnigsten Berg der
Schweiz, sehen Sie die Pracht des Monte Rosa, die Berner und die Walliser
Alpen, und nach einen kurzen Spaziergang entdecken Sie den Kern des
Brè Dorf mit seinen attraktiven künstlerische Ausgestaltung.
Depuis 1912, le funiculaire conduit ses passagers au sommet du Monte
Brè, un lieu qui offre de nombreuses opportunités au visiteur. On y trouve
en effet, un vaste espace aménagé pour préparer des grillades, ainsi
que des promenades accessibles aux familles et des excursions plus
difficiles en montagne. De la montagne la plus ensoleillée de la Suisse,
on peut apprécier la splendeur du Monte Rosa, des Alpes bernoises et
valaisannes et, après une petite promenade, découvrir le centre de Brè
avec son intéressant aménagement artistique.

Ever since 1912, a funicular has brought visitors to Mount Bré, a place
offering many opportunities to the visitor: a big, well equipped picnic
area, where it is possible to grill food, walks that are accessible to families
and more difficult mountain trails. From the sunniest mountain in
Switzerland, you can appreciate the splendour of Mount Rosa, the
Bernese and Valais Alps and with a short walk you discover the charming
village of Brè with its interesting artistic decoration.

4 Gandria
Dieses sehenswerte Fischerdorf ist verkehrsfrei, hat viele Treppen,
winklige Gässchen, kleine Höfe, Souvenirgeschäfte und einladende
Terrassenrestaurants. Im Ortszentrum befindet sich die Kirche San Viglio
aus dem 16. Jahrhundert mit prunkvollem barockem Innenraum und ein
hoher spätmittelalterlicher Glockenturm. Die Überfahrt von Lugano mit
dem Boot und zurück zu Fuss am Seeufer entlang ist eine beliebte Route,
die gleichermassen von Touristen und Einheimischen genutzt wird.

ses escaliers qui offrent des raccourcis et des paysages de rêve, est
une véritable oasis de paix. L’église de San Vigilio du XVIè siècle, située
au coeur du village, offre un somptueux intérieur baroque et un haut
clocher de la fin du Moyen-Âge. Le trajet en bateau à partir de Lugano,
avec retour à pied le long de la rive du lac est un parcours très fréquenté
par les touristes et les indigènes.

Gandria is an unspoiled, picturesque lakeside village at the foot of Monte
Brè. Perched on the steep mountainside it is a community of narrow
streets, inaccessible to cars, with a delightful surprise round every corner.
At the centre of the town there is the 16th century church of San Vigilio
with its outstanding baroque interior and the high late-medieval belfry.
Many tourists and locals enjoy the boat trip from Lugano and the walk
back along the lake shore.
5 Museo delle Dogane Svizzero
Am See vor Gandria befindet sich das Schweizerisches Zollmuseum.
Besucher erhalten im Museum Einblick in den Arbeitsalltag von
Grenzwächtern und Zöllnern in der Schweiz, von der Gründung des
Bundesstaates 1848 bis heute: Warenschmuggel, Drogenfahndung,
Wirtschaftskriminalität, Migration, Edelmetallkontrolle, Arten und
Kulturgüterschutz. Gleichzeitig erleben Sie, wie sich diese Berufe über die
Jahre verändert haben.
Au bord du lac, face à Gandria, se trouve le Musée suisse des douanes.
Au Musée, les visiteurs ont un aperçu du quotidien des gardes-frontière et
du personnel civil de la douane Suisse, de la création de l’Etat fédéral en
1848 à nos jours. Contrebande, trafic de drogue, criminalité économique,
migration, contrôle des métaux précieux, conservation des espèces et
protection des biens culturels. Ils auront également l’occasion d’observer
combien ces métiers ont évolué au cours des années.

I visitatori del museo delle dogane possono ammirare tutto ciò che ha a
che vedere con il lavoro della dogana, dalla costituzione dello Stato federale

economica, migrazione, controllo dei metalli preziosi, conservazione delle
specie e protezione dei beni culturali. È inoltre possibile seguire l’evoluzione

Opposite to Gandria is located the Swiss Customs Museum. Visitors get a
glimpse of the day-to-day work of border guards and customs experts in
Switzerland, from 1848 when the Swiss Confederation was founded, up to
the present day. Goods smuggling, drug searching, economic crime,
migration, precious metal control, the protection of cultural property and
species protection. You can also experience how these professions have
evolved over the years.
6 Swissminiatur
Auf einer 14’000 m2 grosse Parkfläche werden dem Besucher mehr als
120 handgefertigte Modelle der bekanntesten Gebäude der Schweiz
gezeigt, alle im Massstab 1:25. Eine 3‘560 m lange Modelleisenbahn mit
18 Zügen fährt durch den Park. Für Gartenliebhaber wurde der ganze
Park mit 1’500 Pflanzen und mehr als 15’000 Blumen bepflanzt. Den
Kindern steht ein Spielplatz zur Verfügung. Das Selbstbedienungsrestaurant bietet Tessiner-, Italienische-, Chinesische- und Indische Küche an.

Per gli appassionati di ferromodellismo, una rete di 3’560 m di ferrovie

l’intero parco è ornato da 1’500 piante e da oltre 15’000 fiori mentre per
i bambini sono a disposizione diversi giochi. Il ristorante self-service
propone cucina locale, italiana, cinese e indiana.
In an area of 14’000 m2 visitors can admire more than 120 models at scale
of 1:25 which represent the most important buildings, monuments and
transportation means in Switzerland. A 3’560m long model railway with 18
trains runs through the park. For garden lovers, the whole park is beautifully
decorated with a selection of 1’500 different plants and over 15’000 flowers.
There are several coin operated rides for children. The self–service restaurant
serves local, Italian, authentic Chinese and Indian cuisine.

Der ursprüngliche Kern des Ortes entwickelt sich den See entlang.
Abgesehen von den Innengässchen, ist sein grosser Platz, ein Merkmal
des Ortes. Zur Gemeinde gehört auch der Teil Torrazza, auf der Seenge
von Lavena, hinter dem Monte Sassalto, der für seine reiche Voralpenflora
bekannt ist. In einem modernen Gebäude mit eine Entspannende
Atmosphäre direkt am See, befindet sich das Fischereimuseum. Es
werden zahlreiche Themen behandelt, darunter der Bootsbau, der
Fischhandel, die Herstellung von Fischernetzen, ect.

place au lac sont très caractéristiques. La fraction de Torrazza se situe
derrière le Mont Sassalto, réputé pour sa flore préalpine très riche. Le
Musée de la pêche vous offre une exposition fascinante, dans un bel espace
moderne et relaxant à proximité des rives du lac, qui revisite l’histoire de
la pêche à travers divers thèmes tels que la construction des barques et

The original town settlement lies on the shores of the lake. Characteristic
are the narrow internal streets and its vast square on the lake. The hamlet of
Torrazza is situated behind Mount Sassalto, which is characterized by a rich
variety of pre-Alpine flora. A fascinating exhibition at The Fishing Museum
gives us an idea of fishing from prehistoric times to today, touching upon
several subjects like boat construction, the fish trade and the production of
fishing nets, all this, in a relaxing environment close to the lake shore.
8 Morcote
Seine charakteristischen Gassen, die Laubengänge der alten Patrizierhäuser,
die wertvollen architektonischen Monumente und eine üppige subtropische
Vegetation machen Morcote zur “Perle des Ceresio”. Von grosser
künstlerisch-kultureller Bedeutung sind die Barock/Renaissance-Kirche
Santa Maria del Sasso, der malerische Terrassenfriedhof, die monumentale
Treppe mit 404 Stufen und auch der Parco Scherrer, mit zahlreichen Beispiele
architektonischen Bauten und typischer südlicher Vegetation.

patriciennes, ses monuments d’une grande valeur architecturale font de
Morcote la “Perle du Ceresio”. L’église de Santa Maria del Sasso de style
baroque, le cimetière à terrasses et l’escalier monumental composé de

importance. Le magnifique Parco Scherrer, vous offre une flore subtropicale
impressionnante et de nombreux exemples de styles architecturaux.

9 Monte San Giorgio
Haben Sie Lust auf einen Ausflug auf den Monte San Giorgio? Dann
reisen Sie bequem mit dem Schiff nach Brusino Arsizio! Wenige Schritte
entfernt von der Schiffhaltstelle, finden Sie die Seilbahntalstation , welche
Sie innert weniger Minuten nach Serpiano transportiert. Von Serpiano
aus, haben Sie die Möglichkeit, den Monte San Giorgio zu Fuss zu
entdecken und die herrliche Aussicht auf den Luganersee zu geniessen.
Der Monte San Giorgio, eine besonders wertvolle Perle, wurde im Juli
2003 in der Liste der UNESCO Naturwelterbe aufgenommen.

The shores of Lake Maggiore host beautiful beaches and inviting
swimming baths. The Lido Locarno, together with the adjacent thermal
salt water bath & spa, offer modern and sophisticated structures, with
various indoor and outdoor swimming pools. In Ascona the adjoining
Lido and public baths offer a total of 80’000 m2 of spaces for relaxation
as well as sandy beaches. The swimming baths of Brissago and Tenero
offer outdoor pools. Also to be mentioned are the public beaches of

Einziger botanischer Garten der Schweiz auf einer Insel. Der botanische
Garten Isole di Brissago ist eine Oase von 2,5 ha mit Pflanzen und Blumen
aus 5 Kontinenten. Dank dem ausserordentlichen Klima und der Lage
der Inseln in der Mitte des Sees gedeihen über 1’700 Pflanzenarten, oft
einzigartig in der Schweiz. Ein botanisches Gesamtwerk das seit der
Errichtung des Gartens im Jahre 1885 fortwährend gepflegt und erweitert
wird. Der Park und das Restaurant sind von April bis Oktober täglich
von 9.00 bis 18.00 Uhr geöffnet.

The Isole di Brissago are a unique Swiss botanical garden on an island, an
oasis on 2,5 ha with plants and flowers from all 5 continents. Thanks to the
special climate and the position of the islands in the middle of the lake the
gardens include over 1’700 different plants, many of which are unique in
Switzerland. The Isole di Brissago offer a botanical collection which has
been carefully selected and acclimatised since the foundation of the gardens
in 1885. The gardens and the restaurant are open from April to October,
every day from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m.

2 Parco delle Camelie
Der Kamelienpark in Locarno ist ein wahres Schmuckstück das mitten
im Grünen, direkt am Seeufer liegt: 900 verschiedene Kamelienarten auf
einer Fläche von 10’000 m2. Aus dieser Vielfalt heben sich besonders
hervor die Camellia japonica, die Camellia reticulata und die Camellia
sasanqua sowie die Higo und verschiedene hybride Pflanzen. Zwei
Teiche, ein didaktischer Pavillon und ein kleines Amphitheater
vervollständigen den Park. Das ganze Jahr über geöffnet, beherbergt
der Park, Anfangs Frühjahr, die jährliche Kamelien-Ausstellung.
Le parc des camélias de Locarno est un petit bijou immergé dans un
cadre verdoyant au bord du lac: 900 variétés de camélias couvrant une
surface de 10’000 m2. Parmi ces variétés notons les Camélias japonica,
Camélias reticulata et Camélias sasanqua ainsi que les Higo et des
variétés hybrides. Deux petits lacs, un pavillon didactique et un petit
amphithéâtre complètent le parc, qui est ouvert toute l’année et qui
abrite au début du printemps l’exposition annuelle “Locarno Camelie”.

gioiello immerso nel verde e situato direttamente in riva al lago. Ospita
ben 900 camelie, distribuite in una quarantina di aiuole su una
superficie di 10’000 m2. Spiccano le Camellia japonica, reticulata e
sasanqua nonché le Higo e varietà ibride. Completano il parco due
laghetti con giochi d’acqua, un padiglione didattico e un piccolo
anfiteatro. Aperto tutto l’anno, ad inizio primavera ospita l’annuale
esposizione Locarno Camelie.

The Camellia Park in Locarno is a true treasure embedded in natural
surroundings, right next to the lake; 900 different Camellia plants
spread over 10’000 m 2. The Camellia japonica, the Camellia reticulata
and the Camellia sasanqua as well as the Higo and various hybrid
plants are only a few names to be mentioned among the vast varieties.
Further there are two small lakes, an information pavilion and a small
amphitheatre in the park. Open all year round, the park hosts the annual
camellia exhibition at the beginning of every Spring season.
3 Parco del Gambarogno
Von der Anhöhe zwischen Piazzogna und Vairano aus, mit herrlichem
Blick auf den See und die Berge, bietet der Park des Gambarogno, auf
einer Fläche von 17’000 m2, die weltweit größte Auswahl an Magnolien
(ca. 450). Der Park weist auch eine reiche Sammlung von Kamelien,
Azaleen, Rhododendron, Glyzinien, Pfingstrosen und Kornelkirschen auf,
dazwischen wachsen Efeu, Kiefern, Wacholdergebüsch und andere zum
Teil seltene europäische und exotische Nadelbäume. Ganzjährig geöffnet.

Open year-round, the botanical park of Gambarogno is located on the
hill between Piazzogna and Vairano, with a gorgeous view of the lake
and surrounding mountains. The park, with a surface of over 17’000 m2,
hosts the world’s largest collection of magnolias (aprox. 450), a rich
collection of camellias, numerous types of azaleas, rhododendrons,
wisterias, peonies and cornel cherries to be admired. In addition, one
also finds ivy, pines, juniper and other rare European and exotic coniferous
trees growing here.
4 Bolle di Magadino
Die Bolle von Magadino (Feuchtgebiet) sind ein Naturschutzgebiet von
nationaler Bedeutung, Heimat von vielen geschützten Tier- und
Pflanzenarten. Dank der Realisierung der didaktischen Wege, ist es
möglich die geschützte Zone alleine oder geführt (April-Oktober) zu
besuchen, ohne grosse Störung seiner natürlichen Bewohner. Alle
Jahreszeiten eignen sich für einen Besuch der Bolle. Der ideale Zeitpunkt
für die Vogelbeobachtung ist von April bis Mai.
La zone humide des “Bolle di Magadino” est une réserve naturelle
d’importance nationale, refuge de nombreuses espèces animales et
végétales protégées. Grâce à la réalisation de chemins didactiques, il est
possible de visiter la zone protégée individuellement ou par des visites
guidées (avril-octobre), sans causer trop de dommage et sans trop déranger
ses habitants naturels. Toutes les saisons se prêtent pour une visite aux
«Bolle». La période idéale pour l’observation de l’avifaune est d’avril à mai.
Le Bolle di Magadino (zona umida) sono una riserva naturale
d’importanza nazionale, rifugio di numerose specie animali e vegetali
protette. Grazie alla realizzazione dei sentieri didattici, è possibile visitare
la zona protetta da soli o per mezzo di visite guidate (aprile-ottobre),
senza recare troppo danno o disturbo ai suoi ospiti naturali. Tutte le
stagioni si addicono a una visita alle Bolle. Il periodo ideale per
l’osservazione dell’avifauna è da aprile a maggio.
The Bolle di Magadino (wetlands) is a natural reservoir of National
importance and also a refuge for numerous animal and plant species.
Thanks to the realization of the didactic path it is possible to visit the
protected area independently or with a guided tour (April-October)
without damaging or disturbing its natural environment. A visit to the
“Bolle” is interesting at any time of the year. The ideal period for
observation on the avifauna is between April and May.

Der Park der Villa Taranto bei Intra hinterlässt unvergessliche Eindrücke:
Alleen, von Azaleen, Ahornbäumen, Rhododendren und Kamelien gesäumt;
Dahliengärten mit über 300 Arten und schliesslich die tausend Farben der
herbstlichen Blütenpracht. Der Park der Villa Pallavicino, bei Stresa, ist ein
üppiger botanischer Garten. Seine Hauptattraktion bilden die im weiträumigen
natürlichen Gelände angesiedelten über 40 Arten an Säugetieren und
exotischen Vögeln. Von Ende März bis Ende Oktober geöffnet.

Visiting the Villa Taranto, near Intra, is an unforgettable experience of
beauty: avenues of azaleas, maple trees, rhododendrons and camellias;
gardens with over 300 types of dahlias and a whole range of colours
during the autumn blooming time. The park at Villa Pallavicino, just
outside Stresa, is a rich botanical garden. The main attraction are the
animals, which live in wide natural spaces, with more than 40 species

7 Isole Borromee
Die Isola Bella ist die berühmteste der drei Borromäischen-Inseln. Graf Carlo
Borromeo III. liess hier einen Palazzo und einen grossartigen Garten für
seine Ehefrau Isabella (nach der die Insel benannt ist) errichten. Die Isola
Madre ist die grösste und charakteristischste Insel. Sie fällt durch ihren
Palast und den Garten, der reich ist an seltenen Pflanzen und exotischen
Blumen, besonders auf. Die Isola dei Pescatori besteht aus einem typischen
Fischerdorf mit mehreren kleinen Restaurants. Die Gärten und Museen sind
von Ende März bis Mitte Oktober geöffnet.

III Borromée y fit construire un palais et un parc grandiose pour sa femme
Isabella (d’où le nom de l’île). L’Isola Madre est la plus grande et caractéristique
de l’archipel. Elle est connue pour son palais et pour son jardin, riche en
plantes rares et en fleurs exotiques. L’Isola dei Pescatori est occupée presque
entièrement par un ancien village rustique avec plusieurs tavernes typiques.

occupata quasi interamente da un antico e rustico villaggio dalle viuzze
strette, lungo le quali si concentrano numerose tipiche trattorie. Giardini

Carlo III Borromeo had a palace and a magnificent garden built for his wife,
Isabella (from which the island’s name derives). The Isola Madre is the largest

Jahr über bunte Märkte abgehalten. Das Angebot an den Ständen umfasst
Kleider, Schuhe, Handwerk, Wurstwaren, Käse, Gemüse und sonst noch
allerlei. Die bekanntesten dieser Märkte finden in Luino (Mittwoch, 9.0016.30 Uhr), Intra (Samstag, 8.00-17.00 Uhr) und Cannobio (Sonntag, 8.0013.00 Uhr) statt. Alle drei Orte sind am bequemsten mit den Kursschiffen
der Navigazione Lago Maggiore zu erreichen.
