• Migration policy and policymaking, with a specific attention to the local dimension of
immigration and integration policy, as well as to urban processes of mobilisation around
immigration-related issues.

perspective and a special attention to migrant women and second generations.
• Immigrants political participation, with a special focus on local level participation in Italy and in

Ongoing research
• ‘Research-policy dialogues on migration and integration in Europe’, funded by the
VolkswagenStiftung and coordinated by the Erasmus University of Rotterdam. The research
project, started in October 2011 (end: October 2013), has the purpose of analysing the relations
between research and policymaking on migration and integration in 4 European countries, i.e.
Germany, the Netherlands, Uk and Italy, and at the EU level. Principal investigator and
coordinator of the FIERI research unit responsible for the case study on Italy.
• ADAPT, Adapting European Health Systems to Diversity, Cost Action IS1103, Funded by the
European Union. Member of the research group on “The Policymaking and Multilevel
Goverance of Immigrants’ Health”.
• Project on “Second generations. Migration processes and mechanisms of integration among
foreigners and Italians (1950-2010)”, coordinated by the Department of Social Research of the
University of Piemonte Orientale Amedeo Avogadro and funded by the Piedmont Region (Call
for Social Sciences Research of the Scientific Research Division). Principal investigator of the
research unit of the Department of Political Studies of the University of Turin (in January-July

Studies of the University of Turin working on “New social risks and policy responses. The case
of foreign workers and migrant families inclusion policies” (March 2010-October 2012).

• PROSINT, Promoting Sustainable Integration Policies, funded by the European Integration
Fund (2010) and coordinated by ICMPD (Wien). The project is aimed at reconstructing recent
trajectories in European immigrants’ integration policies with a particular attention to 6 cases:
Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy and the Czech Republic. Principal investigator
and coordinator of the FIERI research unit, responsible for WP3 on the study of implementation
processes of language and introduction courses at a local level in the 6 countries considered
(completed in July 2011).
