fitcile alla conoscenza di esse due lingue.
Le poche osselTazioni che 10 precedono, dimostre·ranno che la lingua maltese puo essere scritta e letta
senza Ia supposta difficoha, e senza l' ajuto di altro
alfabeto qualunque.
1.0 scrittore cio nonostante non accel'ta, che il suo
1a\"oro sia esatto. Egli, incerto della sua ammissione,
]0 affida alia considerazione £Ii altri scrittori pili abilj
eli lui, e 101'0 prega di emendare cortesi, i difetti.
Se si considerasse talvolta non profittevole al fine
prefisso, 10 scrittore bramerebbe, che coloro i quali
amano di vedere il perfezionamento dell'istrnzione,
s' impegnassero di studiare un altro alfabeto migliore,
guidato dal solo italiano, senza di cui, come sostcnnero i fogli locali, pochi anni sono, Ie due lingue
italialla ed inglese, non possono essere apprese dai
giovanetti maltesi, che con grave fatica.

La vocale I si sottintende nei casi in cui si rende disaggradevole
la sua pronuncia, ed in sua vece si eposta una virgoletta. Esempio,
scimara, si Iegge se'mara, fiume-gibin, l/bin, fronte-frogia,frog'a,
frittata-eilamita, c'lamita, tegola-seieora, se'cora, sacco.
