Robin Platt, geboren 1962, zählt zu den herausragenden Vertretern des neuen britischen
Designs. Nach seinem Studium am Londoner College of Furniture gründete er zusammen mit
dem Architekten Cairn Young eine Designwerkstatt in London. Im Rahmen dieser
Zusammenarbeit war er bereits früher an der Entwicklung verschiedener Kollektionen für die
Rosenthal studio-line beteiligt. Seit 2003 arbeitet Robin Platt als eigenständiger Designer,
dessen innovative, mit ausgeprägtem Gespür für Material, Funktionalität und plastische
Formen gestaltete Entwürfe international Beachtung finden.
Robin Platt, born 1962, is one of the most outstanding exponents of new British design.
Following his studies at the London College of Furniture he founded a design workshop in
London together with architect Cairn Young. This cooperative venture meant he was involved
in developing various collections for the Rosenthal studio-line early on. Having worked as an
independent designer since 2003, Robin Platt’s innovative designs, created with a distinctive
feeling for material, functionality and three-dimensional form, are attracting international
attention.
Robin Platt, né en 1962, compte parmi les représentants les plus renommés du nouveau
design britannique. Après ses études au College of Furniture de Londres, il a fondé en collaboration avec l'architecte Cairn Young un atelier de design à Londres. Dans le cadre de cette
coopération, il a participé très tôt déjà au développement de diverses collections pour la
ligne Rosenthal studio-line. Depuis 2003, Robin Platt travaille en tant que designer indépendant qui se distingue par un sens marqué pour le matériau, la fonctionnalité et les formes
plastiques et dont les esquisses innovantes sont appréciées au niveau international.
Robin Platt, nato nel 1962, è considerato uno dei più straordinari rappresentanti del moderno
design britannico. Dopo i suoi studi al College of Furniture londinese, fondò con l’architetto
Cairn Young un laboratorio di design a Londra. Nell’ambito di questa collaborazione ha partecipato già in passato allo sviluppo di diverse collezioni per la Rosenthal studio-line. Dal
2003, Robin Platt lavora come designer indipendente, i cui lavori creati con un marcato senso
per materiale, funzionalità e forme plastiche sono apprezzati in tutto il mondo.
