INDACO Presentation of the new album “Indaco” “…music to be listened with the eyes” INDACO Girolamo Deraco and the Etymos Ensemble “Indaco” is the title of the new album for instrumental ensemble by the composer Girolamo Deraco that will be out next April. The new compositions for flute, clarinet and vibraphone played by the Etymos Ensemble extend the musical view drawing the attention on visual and compositive aspect of the musical gesture which becomes theatrical action. Deraco defines this as Musictheatre. A very complex musical performance that interact with the audience. The public participate not just by listening but also by watching the performance: a music that has to be listened with the eyes. The performers must put attention not only on the musical aspects of the composition but also to the gesture that it requires to be produced. In this way the public is brought deeply inside the process of musical performance. The presentation of the new album, published by Edizioni Retropalco, gained a lot of interest. Festivals and national and international academies, already following the musical and esthetic path guided by Girolamo Deraco and the Etymos Ensemble, immediately offered positions in order to host this event in their theatrical season. On calendar: “Festival Rebus”, Teatro dal Verme -‐ Italy, “Victoria International Art Festival” -‐ Malta Fondazione Idea, “Orsh Orkestra Rinore Shqiptare” -‐ Albany “Miskolci Operafesztivál” -‐ Ungary Moreover the trio will perform in: Munich, Stuttgard, Berlin -‐ Germany MUSICTHEATRE Is silent music? Is it theatre? What is Musictheatre? The composer Girolamo Deraco, thanks to the costant collaboration with his ensemble named Etymos Ensemble, develops and enlarges new ideas and way of writing for contemporary music. The composers analyzes and enhances not only the compositive and technical aspect of music but especially the theatrical and dramatic ones. The action that comes from the musical gesture gets inside the composition giving to it the characteristics of what Deraco considers Musictheatre. Tablet A fundamental part of the performance musictheatre is the utilization of tablets. Infact in the exibition the scores have to be read with the electronic devices. The composition are thought and written specifically for tablets and cannot be performed otherwise. The intent is to expand the potentiality of tablets. Infact with these not only is possible to read any scores but is also possible to amplify the sound of the instruments or create specific ambient of light. Is important also the fact that the enviroment around the instruments is simplified in a way that it results extremely essential. Also with doing so the philosophy of musictheatre is again respected and deeply expressed.
