Dear Members,
Dear Members, 2016 is going to be another busy year with more trips and
events. Review the newsletters and visit our website www.cabotoclub.com, for
more information. I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank all
our volunteers who help make our Club successful. This past year I had the
pleasure to work with the Building Committee and saw first-hand the
incredible expertise and skills some of our members have. Their hard work
and diligent use of materials helps keep our maintenance costs to a minimum.
We currently have about 40 young members between the ages of 18 and 35
who will start to plan events and gatherings for this year. Anyone interested in
participating please contact the Young Members Committee. Our Lecture
Series reconvenes in early April and I hope to see everyone there. Also, if you
are able to donate blood, or if you know of anyone wishing to donate please do
so and please ask for the Caboto log book when donating at the CBS Clinic. I
am proud that our Members and friends continue to donate over 600 units per
year. This year we will be recognizing our fellow member Raffaele Meo as
Italian of the Year for 2015. I encourage everyone to support this important
event.

Il 2016 sarà un altro anno impegnativo pieno di eventi e altre gite organizzate
dal Caboto. Per ulteriori informazioni leggete il notiziario e visitate il sito web
www.cabotoclub.com. Desidero cogliere quest’opportunità per ringraziare
personalmente il gruppo di volontari che aiutano a mantenere alta l’immagine
del Club. Questo scorso anno ho avuto il piacere di lavorare con il comitato
dell’edilizia e ho potuto constatare di prima persona la grande abilità e
conoscenza dell’artigianato che tanti dei nostri soci sono in possesso e offrono
al Club. Si impegnano a lavorare per il Club usando materiale disponibile per
fare riparazioni, tenendo il costo al minimo per il Club. Al momento abbiamo
circa 40 giovani soci dall’età tra i 18 e 35 anni che cominceranno a preparare
degli eventi per quest’anno. Se qualcuno é interessato a partecipare é pregato
di contattare il Young Members Committee. La serie di Letture Culturali
ricomincerà in Aprile. Se qualcuno di voi puó donare il sangue, o se conosce
qualche altro che lo puó fare, siete pregati di fare la vostra donazione e
chiedere di firmare il libro del Caboto alla clinica del CBS. Continuamo a fare
oltre 600 unità di donazioni all’anno. Quest’anno riconosceremo il socio
Raffaele Meo come Italiano dell’Anno per il 2015. Per favore sopportate
questo importante evento con la vostra partecipazione.

This year is our 36th Annual Giovanni Caboto Club Bruno Tonial Memorial Golf
Tournament. It will be held at Seven Lakes Golf Course on June 12th. Additional
information will follow in the May Newsletter.

Dear Members in the Club
Your 2016 Membership dues are levied as of January 31, 2016. Please note that if you have not paid after
30 days, you will no longer be a Member in good standing and you may lose any and all benefits from the
Club and the Mutual. As per our Constitution (Bylaw 25), by April 30, 2016, any Members who have still
not paid their dues will receive a registered letter and be required to pay their dues by a specified date, plus
a penalty, or forfeit their Membership.

Christmas has come and gone for another year and so has our
Annual Children’s Christmas party. Once again all of our children
and grandchildren had a wonderful time. Kids where watching
Christmas movies while having their faces painted and getting
balloon animals. Beebo once again entertained everyone as they
waited for jolly old St. Nick. As Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived, all
were ecstatic. The children waited in line patiently to tell Santa
what they wanted for Christmas while receiving candy canes and
gifts. A special thank you goes out to Santa and Mrs. Claus along
with all the Elves who helped make this day special.

On behalf of the children of the Coro Gioventù and their
parents, Laura and Sarah would like to thank all of those
who attended their Second Annual Christmas Charity
Concert: A Natale puoi. Your generous donations of
canned goods to the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul
were greatly appreciated. The children had an extremely
successful concert, singing an amazing total of 16 songs
– bravissimi! The children have already learned new
songs for the new year, including those for the Caboto
Membership Banquet (April 16).

The 1st day showed signs of rockiness, but calm seas
prevailed for the balance of the cruise. Despite the 1900+
people on board, the Caboto Club group cleaned up. Our
Club’s name was well known throughout the ship as
members of our group took home 3 out 4 Grand Bingos ($),
the slot machine Hit and some very fine bottles of alcohol.
Whether we were participating in the on-deck games,
enjoying the on-board casino, theatre, nightclubs, sunbathing
or just exploring the islands; all seemed to have enjoyed their
week. The only downside was after 7 days it was time to say
farewell. The time onboard was definitely too short, but we are doing it again with the two offers below. Sign-up and reserve early for

Local Fall Trip to Ottawa
The Caboto Members’ Events Committee is planning a four day weekend trip to our Nation's Capital of
Ottawa at the end of September 2016. The cost will include round trip by train, hotel transfer and 3 night's
stay at a four star hotel downtown close to Capitol Hill and the shopping and tourist district. Contact the
office and leave your e-mail if you are interested in receiving more information once plans are firmed up.

RITROVA LE RADICI – RETURN TO YOUR ROOTS
THIS IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY: As mentioned in our last Newsletter: Are you a young
member or have children that are in High School or University and wish to visit Italy this summer? With the
assistance of the Mayor of Miranda, Isernia, Molise, an opportunity is here for you to enjoy a 2-3 week visit
in the month of August 2016 for the cost of a plane ticket and transfers from the airport. The setting is
simple; families in Miranda will provide you with accommodations, food and some travelling during your
visit. In return you will spend 2 – 3 days (approx. 4 hours each day) each week in a classroom setting
teaching them the English language and some recreational activities for age groups between 5–12 years.

GRANDE OPPORTUNITA: Avete dei figli che frequentano le scuole superiori o l’università che
vorrebbero visitare l’Italia questa prossima estate? Con l’assistenza del Sindaco di Miranda, Isernia, Molise,
si sta presentando un’opportunità di trascorrere 2-3 settimane in Italia, nel mese di Agosto, al costo
solamente del biglietto aereo e trasferimenti dall’aeroporto. Il piano é semplice; alcune famiglie di Miranda
