L’artigianato costituisce una delle
principali risorse dell’economia della
nostra Regione, lo testimoniano il
numero di micro e piccole imprese e
la loro presenza diffusa e capillare su
tutto il territorio, il valore economico
in termini di ricchezza prodotta e il
valore sociale rappresentato dagli
addetti – molti dei quali giovani - che
vi trovano occupazione.
Fra le molteplici forme in cui si
esprime questo universo uno spazio
di grande importanza è ricoperto
dall’artigianato artistico, che manifesta in modo emblematico quelle
caratteristiche di originalità, creatività
e unicità che rendono un oggetto
una preziosa creazione.
È in particolare a queste imprese che
Regione Lombardia e Unioncamere
Lombardia, in collaborazione con
le Associazioni artigiane lombarde,
hanno pensato, istituendo il Progetto
Artis e il riconoscimento “Lombardia
Eccellenza Artigiana”. Questo riconoscimento individua quelle realtà
artigiane che nella propria attività si
muovono entro un preciso sistema di
regole, dettagli tecnici e tecnologici
Handicrafts are a major economic
resource in our region. This is evidenced
by the number and widespread presence of micro- and small-businesses
across Lombardy, their economic value
in terms of wealth created, and the
social value of those who work in the
field, many being young adults.
One of the most important emanations
of this world is that of artistic handicrafts, with their emblematic characteristics of originality, creativity and
uniqueness turning mere objects into
valuable items.
With precisely these businesses in mind,
the Lombardy Region and the Lombardy Chambers of Commerce Union, in
collaboration with the Association of
Lombardy Artisans, have established
the “Artis” Project to recognize handicraft excellence in Lombardy.
This recognition singles out those
artisans who produce accurate, perfect
works through a business which
follows a precise set of rules, technical
and technological details described in
specific “Regulations”.
Artistic artisans in Lombardy maintain
a strong link to local tradition while

definiti da specifici “Disciplinari”, che
conducono ad un’opera accurata e
perfetta.
L’artigianato artistico lombardo, capace di esprimere un forte legame con
la tradizione locale e al contempo
di proporne una originale rielaborazione attraverso una progettualità e
una creatività inedite, dimostra una
capacità di “saper fare”, per molti versi
unica al mondo, riconosciuta sui
mercati nazionali ed esteri che deve
essere promossa e valorizzata a partire dal nostro stesso territorio. È per
questo che il progetto Artis, avviato
nel 2006, quando Regione Lombardia
ha emanato i primi disciplinari per i
settori Legno e Metalli preziosi, estesi
poi nel 2009 all’artigianato delle
Fibre Tessili e dei Metalli comuni e
leghe metalliche, sostiene le imprese
riconosciute eccellenti attraverso una
serie di iniziative che dà loro visibilità.
Questa guida, disponibile anche
on-line sul sito www.art-is.it, ne è un
esempio. In essa vengono presentate
le imprese del settore dei Metalli Comuni e Leghe Metalliche che hanno
ottenuto il riconoscimento nel 2009:

demonstrate a certain, unequalled
savoir-faire which has been acknowledged in the national and international
markets and which must be promoted
and valorized starting right here in our
own region.
For this reason, the “Artis” Project – begun in 2006 when the Lombardy Region
issued its first regulations for the wood
and precious metals sectors, extended
to textile fibers, common metals and
metal alloys in 2009 – has identified a
series of initiatives aimed at supporting
and promoting the recognized businesses of excellence.
This guide (also available on-line at
www.art-is.it) is an example of this,
as it introduces the businesses in the
precious metals sector which won the
recognition from 2007 to 2009: for each
company there is a bilingual presentation summarizing the company’s
history, organizational structure and
production specialization.
The images of the products demonstrate the excellence of the articles created
at the Lombardy artisan workshops,

: a ciascuna è dedicata una doppia

parziale, l’eccellenza delle creazioni
realizzate dai laboratori artigianali
lombardi.
La guida, suddivisa nelle province della nostra regione, si propone come un
percorso nell’eccellenza del passato e
del presente. Il passato, documentato
nelle singole province da monumenti
e importanti capolavori artistici del
settore, e il presente, di cui sono
espressione le migliori imprese oggi
del settore e dai loro prodotti.
Ci auguriamo che la guida risulti un
utile strumento per chi, percorrendo
la Lombardia, non vuole dimenticare
la storia e l’arte di ogni provincia e
desidera conoscere e incontrare gli
artigiani artisti del territorio, patrimonio di laboriosità e creatività oggi
come un tempo..

Città Alta di Bergamo
Simbolo della città - cui ci si può arrivare con
una rapida ma caratteristica funicolare - è
Piazza Vecchia con i suoi monumenti. Sul
lato sud domina il Palazzo della Ragione, che
richiama all’età comunale; sulla destra svetta la torre civica (XII-XV), nota anche come
“il Campanone”, e si colloca l’antica Domus
Suardorum (XIV-XV), oggi sede dell’Università. Il lato nord della piazza è chiuso da un
palazzo seicentesco con facciata in marmo
bianco. Dietro il Palazzo della Ragione, si apre
una piazzetta su cui si affaccia il Duomo, nato
da un progetto del Filarete, più volte modificato nel corso dei secoli.
Sempre nella piazzetta un protiro in marmo policromo con
leoni stilofori segnala l’accesso alla Basilica
di S.Maria Maggiore, il più importante monumento della città. Attigua alla Basilica è la
Cappella Colleoni (XV), mausoleo in onore di
Bartolomeo Colleoni, famoso condottiero al
soldo della Serenissima, realizzato su proget• 12 •
to di G.B.Amadeo, scultore-architetto impegnato nella Certosa di Pavia.
IL Lago d’Iseo
La strada che costeggia il lago da Lovere a
Sarnico è uno dei più piacevoli e spettacolari
itinerari turistici della provincia: alterna suggestive pareti a strapiombo sul lago, prestigiose
ville storiche e molteplici possibilità di relax e
gustose opportunità gastronomiche.
IL MUSEO DELLA VAL BREMBANA
Il Museo della Valle ha sede in un edificio seicentesco di Zogno. Vi sono esposti oltre 2.500
oggetti, suddivisi in una cinquantina di temi
e dislocati in dodici sale. Tra queste, una in
particolare propone in esposizione un grande mantice proveniente da una fucina della
Val Taleggio e i tipici arnesi per lavorare il ferro: incudine, martelli, pinze e tenaglie. Sono
visionabili anche numerosi prodotti in ferro
lavorato.

Upper Bergamo
The symbol of the town - which can be reached by
a swift but characteristic funicular railway - is the
Piazza Vecchia with its monuments. The south side
is dominated by the Palazzo della Ragione, which
recalls the communal age; on the right stands
the civic tower (12th-15th c.), also known as the
“Campanone” (“big bell-tower”) and the ancient
Domus Suardorum (14th-15th c.), which today
houses the University. The north side of the square is closed by a 17th century palace with a white
marble façade. A smaller square opens behind the
Palazzo della Ragione and facing onto it is the Cathedral, built to a design by Filarete and modified
several times over the centuries. Also in the smaller
square a polychrome marble porch portal with
column-bearing lions marks the entrance to the
S Maria Maggiore Basilica, the most important
monument in the town. Adjoining the Basilica is
the Colleoni Chapel (15th c.), a mausoleum in honour of Bartolomeo Colleoni, the famous military
leader in the pay of Venice, built to a design by G.B.
Amedeo, a sculptor-architect who worked on the
Charterhouse of Pavia.
The Lake of Iseo
The road running along the lake from Lovere to
Sarnico is one of the most pleasant and spectacular tourist routes in the province, where evocative
sheer rock-faces on the lake alternate with prestigious historic houses and plenty of chances to
relax or try the local cuisine.

THE VAL BREMBANA MUSEUM
The Museum of the Valley is housed in a 17th century building in Zogno. There are 2,500 exhibits,
subdivided into about fifty themes and distributed
in twelve rooms. One of these In particular displays

È maturata nel corso di oltre quarant’anni la preparazione professionale
di Giuseppe Mauri, titolare di Artelux.
Inizia infatti all’età di 17 anni il suo percorso formativo sul campo, in aziende
situate nel meratese, dove la fabbricazione di lampadari in ferro costituisce
una lavorazione tipica dell’artigianato
locale: qui apprende le tecniche della
lavorazione del ferro battuto e della fabbricazione di lampadari. Nel 1980 avvia
quindi un’attività in proprio, arrivando
nel 1987 a costituire l’attuale società.
Giuseppe Mauri, owner of Artelux, has
matured a professional expertise over
more than forty years. His training in
this field began at the age of 17, in firms
in the Merate area, where the manufacture of iron chandeliers is a traditional
local handicraft activity. There he learnt
the techniques of wrought iron and the
production of chandeliers. In 1980 he
set up his own business, forming the
present company in 1987.

Cristiano Grassi inizia a lavorare come
carpentiere metallico subito dopo
aver concluso le scuole dell’obbligo,
frequentando al contempo una serie
di corsi di specializzazione in disegno
meccanico e progettazione e manutenzione di impianti. Diventato negli
anni responsabile di uno stabilimento
produttivo in un’azienda di costruzione
di macchine per l’industria chimica e
farmaceutica, sceglie nel 2001 di tornare
al lavoro manuale, aprendo un’attività
in proprio.
Cristiano Grassi started out as a
metal worker immediately after leaving
school, at the same time attending
a series of specialization courses in
mechanical drawing and in the design
and maintenance of plants. Over the
years he became the manager of a
manufacturing plant in a company
producing machines fro the chemical
and pharmaceutical industry, but in
2001 he chose to return to manual work,
opening his own business.

specializzata nella lavorazione

inox: un lavoro che, mentre per

Nel corso della fiera “Edil 2007”
l’azienda ha ricevuto una menzione di merito da parte dell’Ordine degli Architetti di Bergamo,
per la capacità manuale e l’impegno tecnico nella creazione di
soluzioni originali; nell’edizione
2009 ha ricevuto un ulteriore
riconoscimento per un nuovo
modello di scala presentato.
Founded in 2001, CMG specializes
in the working of wrought iron
and stainless steel. Wrought iron,
with its antique charm, flourishes
and ornaments, lives alongside
stainless steel, which produces
innovative, streamlined designs,
with a continuous research into
style and technique to satisfy the
needs of the customer or find
solutions to particular construction requirements. Railings, gates,
staircases and furniture accessories
created by CMG are to be found
not only in private apartments and
houses, but also in churches and
public places.
During the “Edil 2007” exhibition
the firm received a mention of merit from the Architects’ Association
in Bergamo, for the manual skill
and the technical commitment in
the creation of original solutions;
in the 2009 edition a further award
was won for a new model of staircase presented.

Salvatore Pappacena, dopo aver
conseguito la qualifica di disegnatore
meccanico, inizia nel 1983 a lavorare
come dipendente e avvia nel 1991
un’attività in proprio come fabbro.
Negli anni successivi inizia un percorso di specializzazione nel campo delle
chiusure, che lo porta nel 2003 a fondare Door System: realizza da questo
momento lavori su misura altamente
specialistici, lavorando anche per
Agusta Westland e Ferrari.
In 1983 Salvatore Pappacena, after
qualifying as a mechanical draughtsman, began working as an employee
and then in 1991 started up his own
business as a smith. Over the following
years he began specializing in the field
of doors, which led him to found Door
System in 2003. Since then he has been
making highly specialized made-tomeasure elements, working also for
Agusta Westland and Ferrari.

oltre trent’anni di esperienza
del suo titolare nel settore delle
lavorazioni artigianali del ferro.
Si caratterizza per la scelta di realizzare solo prodotti su misura,
vivendo ogni nuova soluzione
come una sfida per soddisfare al
meglio le esigenze del cliente e
le necessità del singolo cantiere.
Door System opera sia nel
settore industriale che in
quello privato, creando cancelli,
recinzioni, barriere, inferriate,
pensiline, porte e portoni. Il
suo iter lavorativo prende avvio
da due sopralluoghi, il primo
per realizzare un preventivo da
sottoporre al cliente, il secondo
di carattere tecnico; quindi viene
creato il disegno tecnico e prodotto il manufatto; il personale
dell’azienda ne effettua trasporto e montaggio; infine viene
rilasciata al cliente l’eventuale
certificazione e la dichiarazione
di conformità del manufatto
prodotto.
Although Door System is a young
company, it is based on its owner’s over thirty years’ experience
in the field of craft iron-working.
It is distinguished by its choice of
producing only made-to-measure
products, approaching each solution
as a challenge to meet the needs of
the customer and of the individual
worksite in the best manner possible.
Door System operates in both the
industrial and the private sector,
manufacturing gates, fences, barriers,
grilles, canopies, internal doors and
main doors. The work procedure
starts with two surveys, the first to
make an estimate to submit to the
customer, the second of a technical
nature. The technical drawing is then
made and the item is produced. The
company staff deal with transport
and assembly and finally, where
applicable, the certification and declaration of conformance of the item
produced are issued to the customer.

Alfredo
Alfredo Galli è un fabbro esperto,
con dodici anni di lavoro alle spalle,
quando nel 1981 decide di avviare la
propria azienda. Da allora l’impresa si
è affermata sul mercato in particolare
nel settore della lavorazione del ferro
battuto e nella produzione di serramenti, e il titolare ha continuato ad
esserne il motore, seguendo in prima
persona l’intera filiera produttiva, oltre
alla fase progettuale.
Alfredo Galli was an experienced smith
who had been working for twelve years,
when he decided to start up his own
business in 1981. Since then the firm
has become established on the market,
particularly in the sector of working
wrought iron and the production of
doors, windows and shutters. Galli has
continued to be its driving force, personally following all stages of production,
including design.

Val Camonica
Una delle valli più estese delle Alpi centrali, è
anche quella di storia più antica, le cui origini
risalgono a circa 15.000 anni fa. Le incisioni rupestri, che caratterizzano tutto il territorio, appartengono al Neolitico e sono opera dei suoi primi
abitanti sedentari: i Camuni. Con oltre 300.000
petroglifi, la Valle è oggi il più interessante centro
di rilevazioni preistoriche d’Europa, riconosciuto

Val Camonica
One of the extensive valleys of the Central Alps, it is
also the one with the oldest history, whose origins
go back about 15,000 years. The rock carvings,
a feature of the entire area, date back to the Neolithic age and are the work of the Camuni, the
first sedentary inhabitants. With over 300,000 petroglyphs, the Valley today is the most interesting
centre for prehistoric studies in Europe, recognised
by Unesco as a World Heritage site.
THE MINES OF THE UPPER VAL TROMPIA
Centuries of history, labour and technology are
hidden within the Upper Val Trompia mountains.
The story they tell is that of iron, a history to which
Val Trompia links the fortune of its economy,
which Is internationally renowned for the Gardone arms industry and the Lumezzane steel-working industry. Today we can rediscover this long,
Intense history by visiting the museums located
up and down the valley, rich In documents and
Images, or by retracing the narrow passages and
tunnels of the pits, where the mining activity was
carried out.
The Iron Road among the mines in Val Trompia
unwinds along a fascinating route. It runs from
the stirring train journey into the heart of the the
Marzoli Mine at Pezzaze to visit the imposing industrial structure of S. Aloisio Tassara at Collio, the
largest siderite mining concession in the valley.
And again the stop at the mighty structure of the
Tavernole furnace or at the museum “Il maglio
Averoldi di Ome”, situated in a small village, where
still today the water moves the wheel driving the
hammer.
THE GARDONE WEAPON MUSEUM
This museum enables us to grasp a significant
cross-section of Gardone’s rich history through
the reconstruction of the story of the old families
of Gardone weapon-makers and of the birth and
evolution of the technological processes.

Luciano Sala, perito meccanico, è
l’attuale titolare di A.S. Sala Stampi,
azienda fondata nel 1950: profondo
conoscitore del settore meccanico, è
stato docente di tecnologia meccanica presso l’Ipsia di Lumezzane e ha
trasmesso i segreti del mestiere a molti dipendenti, alcuni dei quali hanno
poi avviato la propria attività.
Oggi lo affiancano nell’attività i due
figli, ingegneri meccanici, ai quali si
aggiungerà a breve anche la figlia,
laureanda in ingegneria.
Luciano Sala, a mechanical engineer, is
the present owner of A.S. Sala Stampi, a
firm founded in 1950; with a thorough
knowledge of the engineering industry,
he taught mechanical technology at the
Ipsia (professional-industrial school), Lumezzane, and handed down the secrets
of the trade to a number of employees,
some of whom then set up their own
businesses. Today his two sons, graduate
mechanical engineers, work in the firm
and will soon be joined by his daughter,
shortly to graduate in engineering.

L’azienda è specializzata nella

stampi di tranciatura e imbutitura, sia a passo che transferizzati,
oltre che di matrici e prototipi in
metallo. La varietà degli stampi
prodotti è destinata in particolare: alla produzione di posateria,
pentolame e articoli in acciaio
inox per la casa; alla pressofusione di particolari in lega leggera
per l’industria automobilistica;
alla fornitura di attrezzature per
lo stampaggio a caldo di ottone,
alluminio e rame. La progettazione avviene impiegando stazioni
CAD in ambiente 3D, macchine di misura e un’attrezzatura
per il reverse engineering; per
pezzi complessi viene simulato
lo stampaggio con software
dedicato. A.S. ha partecipato con
i propri prodotti a esposizioni di
settore, tra cui Bi-Mu a Milano.

of dies produced is designed in particular for the production of cutlery,

light alloy parts for the auto industry,
for the supply of equipment for hot
casting of brass, aluminium and
copper. The design is done by means
of CAD stations in 3D environment,
measuring machines and reverse
engineering equipment; for complex
pieces, casting is simulated by dedicated software. A.S. has participated
with its products in trade exhibitions,

Realizzato nel 1813, è l’esito del progetto di acquisizione dell’area del Castello della Torre Rotonda, costruito dai Rusca nella seconda metà
del XIII secolo e lasciato in rovina cinque secoli
più tardi. Promotore dell’iniziativa fu il conte
Giampietro Porro, podestà della città. Il suo
palcoscenico ospitò importanti protagonisti di
scena teatrale come Nicolò Paganini, Giuditta
Pasta e Francesco Tamagno. Da non perdere
anche il Duomo dalla cupola settecentesca di
Filippo Juvara e il prezioso centro storico.

Built in 1813, the theatre was the result of the
project of acquisition of the area of the Torre Rotonda Castle, built by Rusca in the second half

Quattro generazioni di Bulgheroni lavorano
il ferro per passione. La ditta nasce ad Olgiate
Comasco nel 1900, per iniziativa di Adolfo
Bulgheroni, come una delle prime aziende di
fabbri della zona. Nel 1912 entra in azienda la
2a generazione con Gerardo, che la sviluppa nel
dopo guerra. Nel 1967, Franco rappresentante
della 3a generazione, introduce la lavorazione
dell’acciaio inox, dell’alluminio e l’ingegnerizzazione del prodotto. Nel 1987 è la volta della
4a generazione, con Francesco: la crescita
continua con i nuovi serramenti in acciaio a
taglio termico con guarnizioni di tenuta.
Four generations of the Bulgheroni family have
worked iron with devotion. The firm was founded
at Olgiate in the Como area in 1900, thanks to the
initiative of Adolfo Bulgheroni, as one of the first
smithies in the area. In 1912 the 2nd generation
entered the firm with Gerardo, who developed it
after the war. In 1967 Franco, representing the 3rd
generation, introduced the working of stainless
steel and aluminium and the engineering of
the product. In 1987 came the turn of the 4th
generation, with Francesco: a continued growth,
with the production of new thermal break doors
and windows with air-tight seals.

Il Torrazzo della Cattedrale
Con i suoi 112 metri d’altezza, che ne fanno la
più alta torre campanaria in muratura italiana,
il Torrazzo affascina i visitatori della città fin
dalla sua costruzione, nel XIII – XIV secolo. Lo
sguardo dal basso si smarrisce nella mole imponente, ma in cima ai cinquecento gradini si
può godere di un’ineguagliabile visione panoramica che spazia dalla Pianura Padana ai rilievi
alpini. Sull’edificio si trova il grande Orologio
Astronomico, dal diametro di nove metri, che
segna le ore, le fasi lunari e i segni zodiacali.

Il museo DEL BIJOU A CASALMAGGIORE
Sono oltre 20 mila i pezzi prodotti dalle industrie di bigiotteria di Casalmaggiore tra la fine
dell’Ottocento e il 1970, raccolti nel Museo
del Bijou di Casalmaggiore, una realtà davvero
unica nel suo genere. Istituito nel 1986, ospita
oltre alle tipologie tradizionali della bigiotteria (spille, gemelli, bracciali, cinture, orecchini,
ciondoli), anche portacipria, portarossetto,
portasigarette, occhiali da sole, medaglie devozionali e distintivi. L’industria del bijoux a Casalmaggiore è sorta in un piccolo laboratorio
per iniziativa del maestro Giulio Galluzzi che,
nel 1882, riusciva a realizzare la prima lastra
di metallo placcato oro. Da questa fortunata
esperienza ebbe origine un’importante impresa che, già nel 1887, esportava i suoi prodotti
anche in America Latina con il marchio “G.G.”.
Sul finire degli anni ‘20, la ditta Giulio Galluzzi si
fuse con la Società Federale Orefici e la ditta Il
Placcato, costituendo la Società Anonima Fabbriche Riunite Placcato Oro.

The Cremona of history and the Cremona of music come together in the Stradivarian Museum, a
project begun in 1893 when Giovanni Battista Cerani donated some objects belonging to the great
Antonio Stradivari. Today the museum houses a
rich collection, unique in the world, of string instruments of an inestimable historic and artistic value:
bows and wooden forms from the 18th and 19th
centuries, paper models and works of the great
violin-maker of Cremona, Giuseppe Fiorini.

a small workshop, by the initiative of the master
craftsman Giulio Galluzzi, who in 1882 successfully produced the first gold-plated metal sheet. This
fortunate experience gave rise to an important enterprise which by 1887 was exporting its products
also to Latin America under the trademark “G.G.”.
Towards the end of the 1920 the Giulio Galluzzi
firm merged with the Società Federale Orefici and
the firm Il Placcato, to form the Società Anonima
Fabbriche Riunite Placcato Oro.

In Oreste Vezzosi’s craft workshop, wrought iron pieces and
embossings on brass and copper
are executed by the traditional
techniques of forging, embossing,
chiselling and inlaying. Production includes indoor and outdoor
furniture items, the manufacture of
wrought iron gates and banisters
and a series of sculptures and artistic items. Each object is produced
starting from a definite design,
which may be developed by its creator or provided by the customer.

LECCO: LA MANCHESTER D’ITALIA
L’industria metallurgica e meccanica italiana ha
in Lecco, ed in particolare nella fascia lungo il torrente Gerenzone e la sua derivazione artificiale
detta Fiumicella, una delle sue culle d’eccellenza. È qui, infatti, che a partire dalla seconda metà
del XIX secolo si vengono a concentrare centinaia di piccole officine e fucine che, con i loro
magli, trasformano la vergella in semilavorati e
oggetti in ferro. Emblema di questa attività, che
porta Lecco ad essere denominata nell’Ottocento la “Manchester d’Italia” , è la Badoni, azienda
dove Giorgio Enrico Falck introduce una serie
di rilevanti innovazioni tecnologiche. Attorno a
questa azienda si sviluppa nel ‘900 una serie di
altre primarie realtà industriali nell’ambito della
meccanica e della carpenteria, oltre ad un ricco
ed articolato tessuto di piccole e medie imprese
ad alto contenuto di specializzazione.
Presso Palazzo Belgioioso, una delle sedi dei
Civici Musei, è possibile ripercorrere le tappe di
questa storia attraverso la “Sala virtuale dell’industria lecchese”, dove postazioni informatiche
consentono al visitatore l’accesso a dati storici e
tecnologici sullo sviluppo industriale del territorio. Completano la Sala un’esposizione di attrezzi
d’epoca e una chiodatrice del 1910.

LE LAME DI PREMANA
Enclave di montagna, che si erge a 1000 metri
di altezza sulle basse pendici dei monti Legnone
e Pizzo Alto, alla fine della Valsassina e della Valvarrone, Premana è universalmente nota per la
produzione delle sue forbici e dei suoi coltelli. A
questa attività si dedica, infatti, la maggior parte
della popolazione locale, la cui economia è organizzata in oltre 130 officine artigianali e industriali, che occupano un migliaio di addetti.
Le origini dell’attività metallurgica risalgono
all’epoca preromana. La presenza di vene di siderite nei monti del Varrone dà avvio, a partire
dal 1200, a una fiorente siderurgia che, nel XIV
e il XV secolo, subisce un notevole sviluppo, soprattutto per la grande quantità di ferro richiesta
dall’industria armoraria milanese. A metà ‘800,
parallelamente al declino dell’attività mineraria
e siderurgica, a Premana inizia a svilupparsi l’industria metalmeccanica, con il ritorno al paese
di numerose famiglie, costrette in passato ad
emigrare altrove, che creano le basi per la ricca e
diffusa economia ancor oggi fondata sulla produzione di lame da taglio.

LECCO: THE MANCHESTER OF ITALY
The Italian metallurgical and engineering industry has one of its cradles of excellence in Lecco,
and in particular in the strip along the Gerenzone
torrent and its artificial branch, known as the Fiumicella. Here, starting from the second half of the
19th century, there grew up a concentration of
hundreds of small workshops and forges, which,
with their power hammers, transformed metal
rod into iron semi-finished and finished products.
An Emblem of this activity, which brought Lecco
to be called the “Manchester of Italy” in the 1800s,
is the Badoni company where Giorgio Enrico
Falck introduced a series of significant technological innovations. Around this company in the
1900s there developed a series of other primary
industrial enterprises in the sphere of engineering
and structural steelwork, as well as a rich and varied fabric of small and medium enterprises with
a high specialization content.
At the Belgioioso Palace, one of the sites of the
Civic Museum, you can retrace the stages of this
history through the “ Lecco Industry Virtual Hall”,
where computer positions give the visitor access to historical and technological Information
about the industrial development of the area. The
Hall is completed by vintage tools and a 1910 nailing machine.

THE BLADES OF PREMANA
Premana is a mountain enclave standing at
a height of 1000 metres on the lower slopes of
mounts Legnone and Pizzo Alto, at the end of the
Valsassina and the Valvarrone, and is universally
known for its production of scissors and knives. The
majority of its population is involved in this activity
and the economy is organized into more than 130
craft and industrial workshops, with about a thousand employees altogether.
The origins of the metallurgical activity go back to
pre-Roman times. The presence of seams of iron ore
in the Varrone mountains gave rise from 1200 onwards to a flourishing iron industry, which underwent considerable development in the 14th and
15th centuries, especially due to the large quantity
of iron required by the Milanese armour industry. In
the mid 1800s, in parallel with the decline of mining
and smelting activity, Premana began to develop
the metal-working industry, with the return to the
area of numerous families who had been forced
to emigrate and now created the basis for the rich,
extensive economy based still today on the manufacture of cutting blades.

Christian Fazzini inizia a lavorare nell’azienda di
famiglia subito dopo aver conseguito il diploma
come perito meccanico, prima come apprendista, quindi come dipendente, infine, dal 1998,
in qualità di socio e legale rappresentante.
Christian, che rappresenta la terza generazione
impegnata in azienda, ha seguito l’introduzione
della tecnica di stampaggio ad iniezione, che
ha permesso di specializzarsi nella produzione
di forbici per elettricista, anche grazie alla sua
specifica formazione scolastica; riveste inoltre
un ruolo fondamentale nella manutenzione
delle macchine e delle attrezzature dell’azienda.
Christian Fazzini began working in the family
firm after obtaining a high school diploma in
mechanical engineering, first as an apprentice,
then as a full employee and finally, since 1998, in
the capacity of partner and legal representative.
Christian represents the third generation
involved in the company. He supervised
the introduction of the injection-moulding
technique, which enables specialization in the
manufacture of electrician’s scissors. In addition,
thanks also to his specific school training, he has
a fundamental role in the maintenance of the
firm’s machines and equipment.

The company was founded in 1947
and specialized right from the first
years in producing professional
work scissors. The present range
includes electrician’s scissors for
cable-laying, pinking shears and
seamstress’s scissors for cutting
cloth and scissors for the office.
All scissors made by Fazzini Rino
feature a robust grip and blades of
various lengths according to the
work to be done by the operator.
The production process requires
mechanical expertise, for the fine
adjustment of the machines to
obtain a precise result, and manual skill, to adjust the scissors and
assemble them correctly. Experience in the use of the equipment is
fundamental in this case to achieve high precision and quality.

Nel 1988 Giorgio Bevilacqua decide di
trasformare la passione per la meccanica e la sua capacità inventiva in un
lavoro, da offrire per lo più nell’ambito
del distretto delle attrezzature da
taglio del premanese. Forte anche
dell’esperienza maturata operando
per un decennio presso una nota
coltelleria della zona, è presto diventato uno dei principali referenti per i
forbiciai che intendono rinnovare il
loro prodotto e processo produttivo.
In 1988 Giorgio Bevilacqua decided to
transform his passion for mechanics
and his inventive capacity into a
working activity, to be offered mainly
in the Premana cutting equipment
district. Strong also in the experience
gained from a decade’s activity with
a well-known cutlery works in the
area, he soon became one of the main
reference points for scissor-makers who
intend to renew their products and their
production processes.

Vittori, laureata in Disegno Industriale al Politecnico di Milano e fondatrice, nel 2004, di
Sistema Design Vittori. Prima di avviare la sua
attività, Gabriella Vittori ha anche frequentato un master organizzato da ATS-Cestec,
Politecnico di Milano e Agenzia Sviluppo
Nord Milano, dal titolo “Creare impresa di
design”. La passione per la ricerca e la sperimentazione di nuovi materiali e tecnologie
accompagnano ogni giorno il suo lavoro,
così come l’approfondimento dell’usabilità e
della forma dei prodotti creati.
Gabriella Vittori, graduate in Industrial
Design at Milan Polytechnic and founder,
in 2004, of Sisema Design Vittori, refers to
herself as a craftswoman designer. Before
setting up her business, Gabriella Vittori also
attended a master course organized by ATSCestec, Milan Polytechnic and the North Milan Development Agency, entitled “Creating

Ogni oggetto creato da Gabriella
Vittori è unico e differente. Si tratta per lo più di prototipi in acciaio
o alluminio e di elettrodi in rame
o ottone. Il progetto di ciascun
manufatto prende avvio da
uno schizzo su carta, poi
definito nei particolari tecnici
con l’ausilio di un programma CAD tridimensionale. Il
settore in cui l’azienda
è particolarmente attiva è quello
delle forbici e dei coltelli: nata e
cresciuta a Premana, la titolare di
Sistema Design ritiene che il futuro di questo distretto artigianale
risieda proprio nell’individuare
nuove forme e modelli che consentano di tornare a valorizzare
la figura dell’artigiano e l’identità
del prodotto made in Italy.

Battista Vittori ha lavorato per un decennio in
una coltelleria prima di fondare, nel 1975, Vibalm.
Inizialmente specializzata nella sola finitura di
tronchesine per la manicure e pedicure, l’azienda
ha negli anni sviluppato il proprio business,
grazie all’approfondimento effettuato dal titolare
delle competenze nel campo della forgiatura
dell’acciaio, che ha consentito di gestire l’intero
processo di fabbricazione dei manufatti e di
ampliare la gamma offerta. Battista Vittori è stato
per 12 anni presidente del Consorzio Premax
ed è da 7 presidente della categoria coltellinai e
forbiciai presso Confartigianato Lecco.
Battista Vittori worked for a decade in a cutlery
works before founding Vibalm in 1975. Specializing initially only in the finishing of clippers
for manicure and pedicure, over the years the
firm has developed its business, thanks to the
development by the owner of skills in the field
of steel forging, which has made it possible to
manage the entire manufacturing process and

the chairman of the Premax consortium for 12

Fin dalla fondazione di Vibalm,
Battista Vittori ha ideato e
costruito personalmente tutti i
macchinari utilizzati in azienda.
L’esperienza maturata in oltre 40
anni di lavoro viene impiegata
per gestire l’intero processo
di produzione, fin dalla fase di
formatura. Dal 2002, infatti, anche
la forgiatura a caldo dell’acciaio è
entrata a far parte del know-how
di Vibalm: da allora l’azienda realizza anche semilavorati forgiati
a caldo per la fornitura ad altre
aziende del settore.

THE ARMS ROOM OF THE CASTLE OF
SANT’ANGELO LODIGIANO
The Castle of Sant’Angelo Lodigiano is a typical
example of Lombard military architecture. Built
on an irregular four-sided plan with corner towers, it was erected by the Milanese on the banks of the river Lambro and was owned first by
the Della Torre family and then by the Viscontis.
In 1452 it was conquered by arms by Francesco
Sforza and given to Michele Matteo Bolognini.
It was restored in the early 1900s by count Gian
Giacomo Morando Bolognini and then in 1933
it was given over as a museum by the count’s
widow. Of particular interest is the library, which
contains about 2000 volumes, and a very interesting armoury, made up of about 500 cutting
weapons, pole arms, armour and firearms of various periods. Also worthy of note are the Throne
Room, The Ancestors’ Room, the Chapel, the Hall
of Mirrors and the Dining hall.

SANT’ANGELO LODIGIANO
Il Castello di Sant’Angelo Lodigiano è un tipico
esempio di architettura militare lombarda. A
pianta quadrilatera irregolare con torri angolari, fu eretto dai Milanesi sulle sponde del fiume
Lambro e fu di proprietà dei Della Torre prima
e dei Visconti poi. Nel 1452 fu conquistato con
le armi da Francesco Sforza e donato a Michele
Matteo Bolognini. Restaurato all’inizio del ‘900
dal conte Gian Giacomo Morando Bolognini,
nel 1933 fu destinato a museo dalla vedova del
conte. Di particolare interesse la biblioteca, che
ospita circa 2000 volumi, e un’interessantissima
armeria, costituita da circa 500 armi da taglio,
armi in asta, armature e armi da fuoco di varie
epoche. Degne di nota anche la Sala del trono,
la Sala degli antenati, la Cappella, la Sala degli
specchi e le sale da pranzo.

Piazza della Vittoria
Denominata Piazza Maggiore fino al 1924, è
il cuore della città, con la Cattedrale della Vergine Assunta ed il Palazzo Broletto. Di pianta
romboidale quadrata, è un raro esempio di
piazza porticata su tutti i quattro lati, una singolare peculiarità che, unita all’eleganza dei
palazzi che vi si affacciano, la rende un luogo
suggestivo e scenografico. La selciatura della
piazza, nel tipico “ricciato lombardo” costituito
da ciottoli di fiume, risale al 1471.
Da vedere anche il Duomo medioevale con
i suoi moltissimi affreschi, il Museo Civico di
ceramiche e il Tempio rinascimentale dell’Incoronata, di pianta ottagonale, dove si può
ammirare un prezioso organo del ‘500, oltre
alla splendida sagrestia, decorata nel 1744
dall’ebanista e intagliatore lodigiano Antonio
Rotta con una serie di armadi in noce.

porticos along all four sides, a unique feature,
which together with the elegance of the buildings
facing onto it makes it an evocative setting. The
paving of the square, in typical “ricciato lombardo”, made with river stones, dates back to 1471.
Also to be seen are the medieval Cathedral with
its many frescoes, the Civic Museum of ceramics
and the renaissance Temple of the Crowned, built
on an octagonal plan, where you can admire a
precious organ of the 1500s, as well as a splendid
sacristy, decorated in 1744 by the Lodi cabinetmaker and carver Antonio Rotta with a series of
walnut wardrobes.

Mauro Notaro ha iniziato il suo
percorso formativo professionale
subito dopo aver conseguito la
licenza media, nel 1983, lavorando
come apprendista fabbro presso una
ditta lodigiana. Qui ha imparato il
mestiere, diventando prima operaio,
poi operaio qualificato e quindi
specializzato, acquisendo nell’arco di
quindici anni una notevole esperienza
e competenza nel lavoro di fabbro.
All’inizio del 1999 ha fondato
l’Artigiana Ferro.
Mauro Notaro began his professional
training immediately after finishing
junior high school in 1983, working
as an apprentice smith with a firm in
Lodi. Here he learnt the trade, first as an
ordinary worker, going on to become
skilled and then a specialized worker,
acquiring considerable experience and
proficiency in iron working over a period
of fifteen years. He founded Artigiana
Ferro at the beginning of 1999.

THE CATHEDRAL
Dedicated to Santa Maria Nascente and built on
the orders of Gian Galeazzo Visconti, the Cathedral
today is the symbol of the city. Built entirely in Condoglia marble, it features an imposing structure,
with sumptuous sculpted decorations and splendid
stained-glass windows, and is the most significant
testimony of international Gothic architecture in
Italy, unique and unmistakable for the fusion of
Nordic characteristics with Lombard features. The
grandiose mass of the building is crowned by its tallest spire bearing the famous Madonnina (little Madonna), a 4-metre high gilt copper statue (1774).
Il Duomo
Dedicato a Santa Maria Nascente, voluto nel
1386 da Gian Galeazzo Visconti, il Duomo è
oggi il simbolo della città. Interamente in marmo di Condoglia, caratterizzato da una struttura imponente, da preziose decorazioni scolpite
e da splendide vetrate, è la più importante testimonianza in Italia di architettura gotica internazionale, unica e inconfondibile per la fusione di caratteri nordici ed elementi lombardi.
La grandiosa mole dell’edificio è coronata dalla
guglia maggiore con la famosa Madonnina,
statua in rame dorato alta 4 metri (1774).
Il Castello Sforzesco
Eretto nel 1450-66 da Francesco Sforza, il Castello Sforzesco fu salvato dalla demolizione grazie
all’opera di restauro del Beltrami, che ricostruì
l’imponente torre del Filarete crollata a causa
di un fulmine. Altre due torri caratterizzano la
struttura: quella di Bona di Savoia e la Rocchetta,
che custodisce il dipinto del Bramante “Argo”.

e i prodotti realizzati. La fusione è rappresentata dal primo forno elettrico italiano. Si possono studiare le lavorazioni per deformazione
plastica attraverso presse e filiere, vergelle e
lastre. Particolare attenzione è rivolta alle lavorazioni del ferro: nella ricostruzione di uno
stabilimento Falck (1860) è possibile osservare laminazione e trafilatura. Un maglio idraulico (1740), proveniente dalla fucina Galperti,
testimonia la fucinatura. La metallurgia dei
metalli non ferrosi (tra cui piombo, rame e
alluminio) è presentata dai minerali d’origine
fino ai prodotti industriali.

The Sforzesco Castle
Erected in 1450-66 by Francesco Sforza, the Sforzesco Castle was saved from demolition thanks to the
restoration works by Beltrami, who rebuilt the imposing Filarete tower which had been struck down
by lightning. The structure features two other towers; the Bona di Savoia tower and the Rocchetta,
which houses the “Argo” painted by Bramante.
THE “LEONARDO DA VINCI” MUSEUM
OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY
Among the numerous sections in the Museum,
attention is drawn to the one dedicated to metals, which illustrates the various techniques of
extracting and working them, showing the machines used and the products made. Smelting is
represented by the first Italian electric furnace.
You can study the processes based on plastic
deformation, through presses and wire-drawers,
rods and plates. Particular attention is given to
the working of iron; in the reconstruction of a
Falck factory (1860) we can observe lamination
and drawing. A hydraulic hammer (1740) from
the Galperti forge illustrates the forging process.
The metallurgy of non-ferrous metals (including
lead, copper and aluminium) is presented, from
the ore minerals to the industrial products.

Luciano Gorlaghetti ha conosciuto i segreti del
ferro battuto dal padre Bernardo e dal nonno
Fausto, accompagnando l’esperienza sul campo
con un percorso formativo di alta specializzazione: nel 1999 ha conseguito il diploma di
Maestro d’Arte con encomio presso la Scuola
del ferro battuto di Rovato (BS). Nel corso della
sua carriera, ha ottenuto numerosi riconoscimenti nazionali ed internazionali ed esposto le
sue opere in occasione di mostre e rassegne. Ha
inoltre collaborato con artisti contemporanei, tra
cui Lucio Fontana, ed è docente presso la Scuola
di arti e mestieri di Confartigianato a Lodi.
Luciano Gorlaghetti learnt the secrets of wrought
iron from his father Bernardo and his grandfather
Fausto, accompanying his experience in the
field with a highly specialized training course:
in 1999 he obtained the Craft Master diploma
with commendation at the wrought iron school
in Rovato (Brescia). During his career he has
obtained numerous national and international
awards and has exhibited his works in exhibitions
and shows. He has also collaborated with
contemporary artists, including Lucio Fontana,
and teaches at the Arts and Crafts school of
Confartigianato (handicrafts association), Lodi.

Spesso Luciano Gorlaghetti è
chiamato anche a restaurare pezzi in ferro battuto di antiquariato,
realizzati tra il 1500 e il periodo
Liberty: tra questi si ricordano
le opere di Alessandro Mazzucotelli oggi conservate presso
la collezione d’arte della Società
Umanitaria di Milano.
Collabora inoltre con artigiani artisti che lavorano materiali diversi, per creare manufatti innovativi
e di valore artistico: ne sono un
esempio significativo gli oggetti
realizzati con la Vetreria Cinquanta, il Maestro Adam Cinquanta e
il designer Giampiero Brunelli.

L’esperienza lavorativa di Nicola
Ferraro è iniziata all’età di tredici anni,
quando, alle dipendenze del cognato,
ha cominciato a lavorare il ferro ferrando i cavalli e ha continuato creando
parapetti, recinzioni, cancelli.
Nel 1960 ha avviato l’attività in
proprio, che continua oggi, dopo
cinquant’anni, con il supporto dei
suoi figli.
Nicola Ferraro’s work experience began
at the age of thirteen, when he began
working for his brother-in-law, first of all
working iron to shoe horses and going
on to create railings, fences and gates. In
1960 he set up his own business, which
continues today, fifty years later, with
the support of his sons.

Dal 1963 Giuliano Bovina svolge la sua
attività come restauratore di articoli
in ferro battuto. Diventato punto di
riferimento per i più rappresentativi
antiquari dell’hinterland milanese,
prosegue oggi la sua attività
affiancato dalla figlia Daniela, sia
nel campo del restauro che della
riproduzione di articoli in stile. Ha
ricevuto nel 1993 il Diploma con
medaglia d’oro nell’ambito del Premio
Milano Produttiva istituito dalla
Camera di Commercio.
Since 1963 Giuliano Bovina has been
carrying out his activity as a restorer
of wrought iron articles. He has
become a reference point for the most
representative antique dealers in the
Milanese hinterland and continues his
activity today alongside his daughter
Daniela, both in restoration and in the
field of reproduction of articles in style.

THE CAVALLARI FORGE: testimony of
metallurgy In the valley
The abundance of water courses and wood favoured the birth of numerous activities based
on their use throughout the province. Among
these is the Cavallari Forge at Castello dell’Acqua, where iron tools for agriculture and daily
life were produced for more than two centuries.
After a period of abandonment, the Valtellina
Mountain Community of Sondrio restored it
so as not to lose a significant cultural heritage.
The Cavallari Forge has a rare fascination also
for the power of its implements, from the large
hydraulic wheel to the imposing grindstone and
the great hammer whose blows could be heard
as far as Teglio.
LA BASILICA DELLA MADONNA DI TIRANO
È il monumento religioso più importante
della Valle. La sua fondazione è collegata alla
miracolosa apparizione della Madonna il 29
settembre 1504.
Famosissimo il monumentale organo, con il
gusto barocco, la grazia e la ricchezza delle
decorazioni a stucco, delle sculture e degli
affreschi.
La Pace di Chiavenna
Custodita nel Museo del Tesoro di Chiavenna,
è uno dei pezzi d’argenteria medievale più
importanti d’Europa, con l’antica funzione di
strumento liturgico per il bacio ai fedeli prima
della Comunione. È composta di 23 lamine
d’oro, eleganti rabeschi, 16 mosaici di pietre
dure, 17 rosoncini in filigrana, 94 perle, 97
gemme e 4 bassorilievi a sbalzo con i simboli
degli Evangelisti. Si fa risalire al 1176, anno in

cui il vescovo tedesco Cristiano di Magonza la
donò alla città in occasione del drammatico
incontro del Barbarossa con Enrico il Leone.
LA FUCINA CAVALLARI: testimonianza
della metallurgia in valle
L’abbondanza di corsi d’acqua e di legna ha
favorito la nascita di numerose attività basate
sul loro utilizzo in tutta la provincia. Tra queste
la Fucina Cavallari a Castello dell’Acqua, dove
per oltre due secoli venivano prodotti attrezzi
in ferro per l’agricoltura e la vita quotidiana.
Dopo un periodo di abbandono, la Comunità
Montana Valtellina di Sondrio l’ha ripristinata
per non disperdere un patrimonio culturale
significativo. La Fucina Cavallari possiede un
raro fascino anche per la potenza delle sue attrezzature: dalle grandi ruote idrauliche all’imponente mola e al grande maglio i cui colpi si
racconta venissero uditi fino a Teglio.

THE BASILICA OF THE MADONNA OF TIRANO
This is the most important religious monument
in the Valley. It was founded in connection with
the miraculous appearance of the Madonna on
29 September 1504.
The monumental organ is very famous, with the
baroque taste, the grace and richness of the stucco decorations, of the sculptures and the frescoes.
The Peace of Chiavenna
Housed in the Chiavenna Treasure Museum, this
is one of the most important pieces of medieval
silverwork in Europe, with the ancient function
of a liturgical instrument for the kiss to the faithful before Communion. It consists of 23 sheets
of gold, elegant arabesques, 16 mosaics in hard
stone, 17 filigree bosses, 94 pearls, 97 gemstones
and 4 embossed bas-reliefs with the symbols of
the Evangelists. It has been traced back to 1176,
when the German bishop Christian of Mainz
donated it to the town on the occasion of the
dramatic encounter of Barbarossa with Henry
the Lion.

The innovative products originate

I Giardini Estensi
Opera dell’architetto Giuseppe Antonio Bianchi prima e dell’ingegnere bolognese Lodovico Bolognini poi, è il parco monumentale
della residenza estiva di Francesco III, governatore della Lombardia austriaca. Lo stile “alla
francese” è caratterizzato da ricercatezze progettuali, come l’asse di simmetria che unisce
visivamente ingresso, portico, parterre e collina e l’ovale centrale, rappresentante Giove,
Venere e Amore, del Ronchelli.
I MUSEI CIVICI DI VILLA MIRABELLO
Contigua al Palazzo Estense è Villa Mirabello,
elegante costruzione, in stile inglese con
una torretta in stile romantico, circondata
da un giardino con rare specie arboree, fra
cui un pluricentenario cedro del Libano.

La villa ospita i Musei civici, attualmente in
corso di riallestimento. Nel 2006 sono state
riaperte le sale del piano terreno e del primo
piano, dedicate all’età romana: qui sono
esposti i corredi delle tombe di Mercallo
dei Sassi, quelli della necropoli della Rasa di
Velate e dei sepolcreti di Angera, Ligurno,
Daverio - Dobbiate, oltre a monete di età
repubblicana ed imperiale. Completano
il quadro l’esposizione di una selezione di
oggetti in bronzo e vetro. L’ala est della villa
accoglie le sezioni di preistoria e protostoria.
Particolarmente significativo è il prestigioso
complesso della Seconda Tomba di Guerriero
da Sesto Calende, datata ai primi decenni del
VI sec. a. C., importante testimonianza della
Cultura di Golasecca, che caratterizza la prima
età del Ferro nel territorio varesino.

THE CIVIC MUSEUMS OF VILLA MIRABELLO
Adjoining the Estense Palace is Villa Mirabello, an elegant building in English style, with a
romantic style turret, surrounded by a garden
with rare tree species, including a centuriesold Lebanon cedar. The villa houses the Civic
Museums, at present being reorganized. In
2006 the rooms of the ground and first floors,
dedicated to the Roman era, were re-opened;
here on display are the Mercallo dei Sassi grave goods, those of the Rasa di Velate necropolis and of the Angera, Ligurno and DaverioDobbiate burial grounds, as well as coins of
the republican and imperial eras. The picture
is completed by the display of a selection of
bronze and glass objects. The east wing of the
villa holds the pre-history and proto-history

Sono Roberto Mazzonetto e la moglie
Barbara Andreetto gli attuali titolari di Ferart,
azienda fondata nel 1974 dal padre di
Roberto, Sergio, ma che affonda le sue radici
all’inizio del secolo, nell’attività di Alessandro
Mazzonetto, nonno del titolare e artigiano
del ferro e dei metalli. Dopo aver appreso
il mestiere dal padre ed essersi diplomato
operatore di macchine utensili, Roberto ha
continuato ad aggiornare con lo studio e
l’esperienza sul campo la propria preparazione; anche la moglie è impegnata in prima
persona nella lavorazione dei manufatti.

Andreetto are the present owners of Ferart, a
firm founded in 1974 by Robert’s father, Sergio. But its roots go back to the beginning of
the last century, to the activity of Alessandro
Mazzonetto, Sergio’s grandfather, who was
a craftsman working iron and other metals.
After learning the trade from his father and
finishing school as a qualified machine tool
operator, Robert continued to keep his training up to date with study and experience
in the field. His wife is also involved in first
person in working on the products.

Completano le attività dell’azienda la lavorazione di particolari meccanici per meccanica
industriale e la manutenzione
industriale e civile di opere in ferro, sempre in produzioni speciali
e limitate.
Tutti i lavori effettuati sono fatti
su misura con estrema cura dei
particolari, seguendo la passione
per il ferro battuto che da anni
contraddistingue la famiglia

Ferart is a highly specialized craft
workshop, equipped to achieve
versatile solutions and made-tomeasure products, reproduction
of period pieces with traditional
methods, and artistic works. The
firm’s activity is completed by the
machining of mechanical parts
for the engineering industry and
the maintenance of iron-work in
industrial and private contexts,
always in special, limited series. All
the works carried out are made to
measure with extreme attention to
detail, inspired by the affection for
wrought iron which has for years
distinguished the Mazzonetto
family.

Roberto Caccin, diplomato al Liceo
Artistico, fonda Metalca nel 1983,
all’età di vent’anni, facendo evolvere
la propria azienda di pari passo con la
propria esperienza e i propri interessi
professionali e artistici: negli anni si
dedica alla creazione di set pubblicitari e scenografie, alla produzione
di macchine e alla meccanica, ma si
specializza in particolare nell’attività
di fabbro, continuando a coltivare la
passione per l’arte e la scultura.
Roberto Caccin, with an artistic high
school diploma, founded Metalca in
1983 at the age of twenty, making his
firm evolve in line with his experience
and his professional and artistic interests. Over the years he has dedicated
himself to the creation of items for
advertising sets and film sets, the
production of machines and mechanical engineering, but he specializes
particularly in the activity of ironwork,
continuing to nurture his passion for art
and sculpture.

Metalca è un’azienda artigiana
specializzata nella lavorazione
dei metalli e nella meccanica:
dagli anni Novanta costruisce
macchinari per la finitura e
l’assemblaggio di tubazioni
oleodinamiche, conquistando
un’importante nicchia di mercato; a partire dal 1995 lavora
ai lay-out dedicati allo spostamento manuale dei pianali
aeronautici presso l’aeroporto di
Malpensa, utilizzando poi in più
ambiti la tecnologia sviluppata.
Realizza inoltre opere industriali
e civili in ferro.
A queste attività si affianca la
nutrita produzione di sculture,
monumenti e strutture per scenografie artisiche.
A partire dal 2006 l’azienda ha
partecipato alle mostre di artigianato artistico organizzate presso
Ville Ponti di Varese dalla locale
Camera di Commercio.
Metalca is a craft firm specializing
in metal-working and mechanical
engineering. Since the 1990s it
has been building machines for
the finishing and assembly of
oleodynamic pipes, conquering an
important niche market. Since 1995
it has been working on layouts
dedicated to the manual shifting
of air pallets at Malpensa airport,
then transferring the technology
developed to other contexts. It also
carries out industrial and private
works in iron. Alongside this activity
is a considerable production
of sculptures, monuments and
structures for artistic sets. Since
2006 the firm has participated in
exhibitions of artistic handicrafts
organized at the Ville Ponti, Varese
by the local Chamber of Commerce.

Viene fondata nel 2006 OMP, di cui
sono titolari Silvano Porcelli e il figlio
Marco. Silvano Porcelli ha maturato
una approfondita esperienza nelle
lavorazioni meccaniche lavorando prima per un decennio come dipendente presso due aziende di produzione
di apparecchiature cinematografico
e di meccanica sperimentale, quindi,
per vent’anni, come imprenditore in
un’azienda di costruzione di macchine
speciali.
2006 saw the founding of OMP, whose
owners are Sivano Porcelli and his son
Marco. Silvano Porcelli gained a wealth
of experience in machining, working
first for a decade as an employee of
two companies producing cinema and
experimental mechanical equipment
and then, for twenty years, as an entrepreneur in a company building special
machines.

collaudato e consegnato insieme alla certificazione di conformità alle normative vigenti e ai
manuali di uso e manutenzione.
Tra le produzioni effettuate negli
ultimi anni, figurano macchinari
per la lavorazione, la serigrafia e il
montaggio dei bastoncini da sci;
sviluppatrici per lo sviluppo della
pellicola cinematografica; linee
di avvolgimento per banda per
la costruzione di trasformatori
elettrici; ribaltatori per bobine.
The process of producing special
equipment and machines followed by OMP starts by gathering
specific requests from customers.
Then comes a study and design
phase to identify the most suitable
solution and thus produce a
unique, highly customized product, which is finally tested and
delivered together with the certification of compliance with current
standards together with the use
and maintenance manuals.
Among the products made over
the last few years are machines
for the working, silk-screening and
assembly of ski-sticks; developers
for the development of cinema
film; winding lines by band for the
manufacture of electrical transformers, tippers for reels.
