Presentation
The 6th "Innovative therapy, monoclonal antibodies and beyond" Conference will convene a faculty
of leading international experts to discuss new therapeutic opportunities emerging from two
different areas of cancer pathology: aberrant cancer cell signaling and control of tumor growth by
the immune system.
The increasing knowledge of the molecular mechanisms responsible for neoplastic transformation,
the biology of cancer cells, and the immunological mechanisms regulating tumor-host interaction,
allowed us to identify and apply more effective anti-cancer biogical and immunological treatments.
To date, the immuno-biotherapy is a continuously evolving treatment modality and it is currently
integrated into the treatment algorythms of several different tumors. Furthermore, elucidating
resistance mechanisms and exploiting cancer vulnerabilities to therapeutics will ultimately improve
cancer therapy and patient care. In this context, metastatic melanoma represents a model in which
several mechanisms of intrinsic and adaptive resistance were identified and different approaches
have been testing in ongoing clinical trials.
This Conference explores topics that will appeal to clinicians, as well as, basic, translational, and
clinical scientists ranging from academics to industry. As in the past, the meeting will provide a
highly interactive forum in which leading experts will discuss clinical and pre-clinical data, providing
the audience with a broad overview of the most recent achievements in cancer biologic and
immunologic therapy.
Finally, several data support the combination of immunotherapies and standard treatments
representing an intriguing challenge, and at the same time a real opportunity
for the future therapeutic approaches.
