CHAN apre la stagione con la mostra personale di Marco Lampis. All’installazione di un grande diapason nello spazio espositivo
l’artista affianca alcuni lavori di diverso formato che indagano sulla relazione tra suono, oggetti e architettura che è al centro della
sua ricerca.
Lampis attraverso il suono e la musica si accosta a all’ambiente circostante, esterno a noi. Ogni oggetto diventa la vibrazione che
unisce tra loro atomi e molecole, una vibrazione che è nello stesso tempo elemento fisico e sonoro. La relazione profonda con gli
oggetti che ci circondano si trasforma così in uno speciale rapporto tra suoni, per cui solo attraverso la disponibilità a “entrare in
risonanza”, ad “accordarsi” con la materia, si può arrivare ad averne una visione assoluta.
Marco Lampis ci suggerisce una visione sonora del mondo, attraverso lavori che non utilizzano – paradossalmente – il sonoro. È
una relazione più sottile e pervasiva che l’artista cerca di restituire attraverso immagini, frammenti, indizi che portano l’osservatore
ad interrogarsi sulla propria risonanza “ambientale” e la propria relazione con lo spazio che lo circonda.
Il lavoro di Marco Lampis si compone di immagini o interventi – spesso minimi - che invitano il visitatore a entrare in relazione con
l’ambiente in cui vive. Utilizzando “sia oggetti di uso comune - principalmente scarti e rifiuti, che rimandano a concetti musicali
come l’eco, il delay, il rumore e l’improvvisazione – sia la fotografia che permette di materializzare e rendere più evidente la distanza
che ci separa dagli oggetti, dallo spazio esterno e dall’architettura”.
L’intervento evocativo proposto nell’installazione da CHAN parla attraverso le forme e le caratteristiche dei materiali per creare una
ideale quanto virtuale risonanza dello spazio espositivo. Il proposito di accordatura (a metà tra un’impostazione scientifica e una
dimensione invece spirituale e metaforica) messo in atto in “Come accordare una stanza” diventa “un mezzo per dare evidenza alle
forze (vibrazioni, risonanze) che vengono subite dagli oggetti, che stanno intorno agli oggetti, che riempiono una stanza”.
MARCO LAMPIS
(Cagliari, 1976), ha studiato a Bologna e a Berlino. Selezionato per il Premio Terna 2009, ha vinto il Premio MAN-Gasworks,
partecipando al Gasworks International Program Residency a Londra nel 2010. Nel 2008 ha seguito il Corso Superiore di Arti Visive
della Fondazione Ratti a Como.
Ha partecipato a mostre in Italia (Generazioni Glocal, Exmà, Cagliari curata da Sonia Borsato,2011; Public Improvisation, Fabbrica
del Vapore, Milano - curata da L.Cerizza, A.Daneri, 2008) e all’estero (Mulhouse 008, La creation contemporaine issue des ècoles
d’art européennes, Mulhouse, 2008; Have a Look! Have a Look!, galleria Form Content, Londra - curata da F. Pedraglio, P.
Vermootel, C. Riva, 2010). La sua prima mostra personale è nel 2010 Altrove, all’infinito, MAN (Nuoro) a cura di Cristiana Collu. Nel
2011 è stato selezionato per la Biennale Giovani Artisti di Monza.

CHAN opens the fall season with a personal exhibition by Marco Lampis. Beside a big tuning fork, the artist places other different
sized objects aimed at investigating the relationship between sound, objects and architecture – thus highlighting the core of his
research.
Sound is the means used by Lampis to approach the external environment surrounding us. Every object turns into the vibration
connecting atoms and molecules, a vibration that is both a physical and an acoustic element at the same time. Thus, our deep
relationship to objects is transformed into a special connection between sounds, where a complete insight into the matter can only
be reached by being willing to “join its vibrancy” and to “get attuned” with it.
Marco Lampis proposes an acoustic vision of the world by means of works that - paradoxically – do not feature sound. The
relationship the artist tries to represent is a subtler and more pervading one. To depict this connection, the artist uses images,
fragments, clues pushing the audience to reflect on how they get attuned to and approach their environment.
Marco Lampis’ work is made up of pictures or interventions - often minimal ones - inviting the audience to establish a connection
with the environment they live in. To do this, the artist uses “both objects belonging to everyday life - mostly scraps and waste, as
they recall musical concepts such as echo, delay, noise and improvisation - and photography. This latter allows to embody and
highlight the distance separating us from objects, external environment and architecture”.
The nature of Lampis’ exhibition at CHAN is evocative. Its work uses shapes and characteristics of the material as a means of
expression in order to reach a vibrancy – both ideal and virtual - inside the exhibition space. The intention of tuning (that collocates
between a scientific approach and a spiritual and metaphorical dimension) being implemented in “In order to tune a room”
becomes “a way to highlighting the forces (vibrations, resonances) that objects undergo and are surrounded by, as well as the
forces filling up a room”.
Marco Lampis
(Cagliari, 1976), studied in Bologna and Berlin. He was selected for the Terna Award in 2009, he won the MAN-Gasworks Award
during the Gasworks International Program Residency in London in 2010. In 2008 he followed a Higher Studies class in Visual Arts
at the Ratti Foundation in Como.
He has participated in expositions in Italy (Generazioni Glocal, Exmà, Cagliari curated by Sonia Borsato, 2011; Public Improvisation,
Fabbrica del Vapore, Milan - curated by L. Cerizza, A. Daneri, 2008) and outside of Italy (Mulhouse 008, La creation contemporaine
issue des ècoles d’art européennes, Mulhouse, 2008; Have a Look! Have a Look!, Form Content Gallery, London - curated by F.
Pedraglio, P. Vermootel, C. Riva, 2010). His first personal exhibition is in 2010, “Altrove, all’infinito” (“Elsewhere, in infinity”), MAN
(Nuoro) curated by Cristiana Collu. In 2011 he was selected for the Young Artists Biennale in Monza.
