Made in Italy is a fundamental patrimony for our
Nation, it is the synonym
of quality,
Creativity and style. Based on a recent survey,
it is the third most famous “brand” after Coca
Cola and Visa. The entire
world admires Italian
“style” and that is why
so many copy us. Apparel, shoes, cars, wines
and food, high technology machines are the
most exported products,
especially to Germany,
France and US. The export leading Regions are
Lombardy, Veneto, Emilia Romagna and Piedmont. Made in

this aspect, a new bill
is under study for compulsory labeling of products to be put on the
market which will enable
the consumer to get the
information related to

The market of imitation and “non-complying” goods presents a huge business volume and as a result
many companies pay the penalty. Just for one, during one year in Lombardy, the Revenue Guard Corps
has confiscated 9 million pieces, with a total loss for
the companies estimated around 3.4 billions euros,
4,200 euros per company. Imitations generally come
from abroad, but a consistent part is manufactured
in our Country. And in many cases organized crime
is behind the imitation production and marketing…
Lazio sets a record for the number of fake or noncomplying products confiscated: 30 million pieces
in a year for a total turnover of 800 millions. The
pieces confiscated in the north
east of Italy
sectors most damaged by imitations are electronics (CDs and DVDs, telephony), fashion and accessories (though this is decreasing). Southern Italy,
with Naples as epicenter, is the main distribution
center of fake products (almost 60% of the entire
volume confiscated and a 5.0 Billion business loss).
In spite of the strong increase in the volume of confiscated goods counterfeiting is going full steam in Northern and Central Italy as well. The sectors which are
suffering the most are food (especially Parmesan),
shoes and leather goods. In the north east the volume of confiscated items in 1 year is approximately 3
millions, corresponding to a 3 billion euro turnover.

Below, the Triennale of Milan and the
museum of Ara Pacis in Rome
Twelve famous Italian photographers illustrate the industrial development of
our Country through the show entitled
The storytelling look which is part of a
wider project named One hundred years
of enterprising in Italy. The exposition,
organized by Confindustria, Triennale of
Milan and the Municipality of Rome, is a
true cultural event combining history and
contemporaneity, archive pictures and
unpublished images and revolving around
the “development” subject: in social,
economic, civil, productive terms. The
places, the people, the materials, the
sectors, the consumption and behind
them the industrial production with its
impact on everyday life and history of

Italy. The storytelling look will open at
Triennale of Milan on May 5 till June
5 2010 and at the new Museum of Ara
Pacis in Rome, from September 30 to
November 30. Among the artists who
trace this portrait of the Italian industrial panorama, in alphabetic order, are
renown names such as Barbieri, Basilico
and Berengo Gardin, as well emerging
names and two young photographers,
Fiorio and Ghizzoni. The show, supervised by a team including Giovanna
Calvenzi, Ludovico Pratesi and Cesare
Colombo, is part of the initiatives organized to celebrate the centennial of

established
exactly
in
1910.
