Film story
Elena and Antonio are not made for one another. Their personalities and life
choices are too different. They see the world differently, they relate differently
to others, they think and live differently. They’re polar opposites.
And yet they are swept away by a mutual attraction they should fight, to which
they should not succumb. Not only because they’re not right for one another,
but also because Elena is with Giorgio and Antonio is with Silvia, Elena’s best
friend. What’s more Fabio, who’s gay and is Elena’s closest friend, profoundly
dislikes Antonio, for his attitude and blatant homophobia.
Theirs is initially a physical attraction – they’re both very good-looking. But
while this may be enough for a man, do the same rules apply to a woman? How
can Elena overcome her lack of respect for Antonio? Above all, how can she
betray her friends and her boyfriend?
Yet perhaps it is precisely emotional and human forbiddance that transforms
this simple attraction, making Elena lose herself and abandon her own rules.
Perhaps it is precisely Antonio’s imperfections and weaknesses that make her
forget and violate her self-imposed limits. This is the first real turbulence Elena
and her friends encounter in life. For they too will have to come to terms with
an unexpected, tempestuous passion that changes the rules of the game of all
their relationships.
However, this is not the only turbulence in Elena’s life. More than 10 years
later, when she is a more mature, the mother of two children and married to
Antonio, with whom she should not have shared one night much less her life,
comes the second upheaval: an insidious and dangerous illness. The moment
arrives when everyone must fully face their emotions and the strength of those
emotions; when love and friendship are put to the test.
Which is why Elena and Antonio, for too long caught in a dishonest balance of
everyday provocations, must once again reignite their passion. And why Fabio,
in the name of his friendship with Elena, must find the courage to make
amends with someone so different from himself as Antonio is. And why Elena,
the center of both men’s lives, becomes not only their emotional anchor but
also the litmus test of their growth, of their becoming adults once and for all.
