Il significato della Pasqua
Easter meaning
La Pasqua è la principale festività del cristianesimo.
Essa celebra la risurrezione di Gesù Cristo che,
secondo la Bibbia, è avvenuta nel terzo giorno
successivo alla sua morte in croce.
Easter is the main celebration of Christianity. It
celebrates Jesus Christ’ s resurrection that,
according to the Holy Bible, happened three days
after his death on the cross.

Etymology and meaning
Il termine Pasqua deriva dall’aramaico “Pasha” che corrisponde all’Ebraico
“Pesah”, che significa “passare oltre”. La Pasqua cristiana ha legami con la
Pasqua ebraica, che invece,celebra la liberazione dalla schiavitù d’Egitto.
The term “Easter” derives from Aramaic
“Pasha” that corresponds to the Jewish
“Pesah”, that means “to go past”. The
Christian Easter is linked to the Jewish
Easter, celebrating the liberation from
slavery in Egypt.
La data del giorno di Pasqua
The date of the Easter day
La data del giorno della Pasqua cristiana viene fissata
ogni anno nella domenica successiva alla prima luna
piena che cade dopo l’equinozio di primavera. Dunque,
nella religione cattolica, la data della Pasqua è
compresa tra il 22 marzo ed il 25 aprile.
The date of the Easter day is arranged every year
on Sunday following the first full moon which falls
after the spring equinox. For this reason , in the
Catholic religion, the Easter day is between 22nd
March and 25thApril.
I simboli pasquali

L’uovo e il pulcino: sono i simboli della rinascita,
infatti per i cristiani la Pasqua è la festa di una vita
nuova, la resurrezione di Gesù. Fin dall’antichità a
Pasqua c’è la tradizioni di dipingere le uova e di
regalare uova di cioccolato.

Il coniglio: poiché tradizionalmente il coniglio
è l’animale più fertile in assoluto, divenne fin
dall’antichità il simbolo del rinnovamento della
vita e della natura.
The bunny: As traditionally the bunny is
the most fertile animal, it has always been
the symbol of the life and nature renewal.
La colomba e l’olivo:sono i simboli della
pace. Inoltre, l’olivo ricorda l’ingresso di Gesù a
Gerusalemme quando la folla lo accolse
festosamente agitando rami d’olivo. Per questo
nella“ domenica delle palme”, la domenica
precedente alla Pasqua, le persone si scambiano
ramoscelli d’olivo benedetti.
The dove and the olive:
They are symbols of peace. Besides, the olive
remembers Jesus’s entry into Jerusalem when the
crowd welcomed him festively shaking olive
branches. So on “palm Sunday”, that is on Sunday
before Easter, people exchange blessed olive
branches
L’agnello: è il simbolo del sacrificio, infatti fin
dall’antichità veniva sacrificato agli dei. Gesù in
croce si è sacrificato per l’umanità
The lamb: it is the sacrifice symbol, in
fact since old times it was sacrificed to the
Gods. Jesus immolated himself on the cross
for the mankind.
Il lunedì dell'Angelo
The Easter Monday
Il lunedì dell'Angelo (detto anche Pasquetta) è
il giorno dopo Pasqua e prende il nome
dall’incontro dell'angelo con le donne giunte al
sepolcro di Gesù. In questo giorno, in Italia, di
solito le famiglie fanno gite.
Easter Monday (called also “Little Easter”)
is the day after Easter and it takes the
name from the meeting between the angel
and the women arrived at Jesus Christ’s
sepulchre. In this day, in Italy, families
usually go on trips.
