How to support SME in monitoring and
choosing public funding
Italian scenario
- Italian National Institute for Statistics in its 6th census 2010 on all
Agricoltural Sector counted approx. 1,6 mln businesses
- the half are officially registered enterprises (approx. 800.000) of which:
only 42.327 (5%) > 6 employees
2.361 limited company revenues > € 5 mln

They are mostly family-run business.
No Medium ones…
Financial needs
- Structural data imply a strong dependence on banking and its
traditional credit system and today…
- credit crunch
- forecast is no good
Furthermore SME are:
- not elegibles for Equity and Bond market
- neither for new «shadow banking» alternatives
All that means even more weakness for the Agricoltural sector in the
absence of UE grants as well as any other kind of national public
funding as guarantees or tax breaks.
