During the last 10 years, after 30 years of intense exploitation, the
Italian pectinid Pecten jacobeus stocks had decreased mardedly in
the GSA 17. As a consequence of the lack of appropriate
managment advice for the fishery, considerng also the
environmental deterioration and increasing eutrofication of the
northern Adriatic Sea, this resources is now on the brick of the
commercial extiction.
Considering the distribution observed during SoleMon survey, the
Pecten jacobeus could be included in the GFCM shared stock list.
