Linee guida INFN:
•INFN welcomes the establishment of an European Strategy Group by the Cern Council and encourages the growing
level of collaboration and integration at European level.
•In particular, it recommends:
•1
the full exploitation of the LHC physics potential should be given the highest priority;
•2
the participation to a global initiative, for the design, construction and commissioning of
an e+e- collider in the energy range of 0.5 to 1 Tev, based on superconducting technology, should be
given high priority, irrespective to its siting.
•3
at the same time, the upgrade of the luminosity/energy of LHC should be considered as a
global initiative.
•4
the establishment of a strong R&D program on accelerator physics and technologies
should be given high priority to establish the feasibility of new facilities (e.g. CLIC etc.), also in
consideration of the wide synergies with other fields in the society (energy medicine, material science,
etc…)
•5
the possibility of the realization of precision measurement (flavour physics, rare decays,
etc…) originating from very high luminosity flavour factories and/or high brightness beams which might
be associated to the LHC upgrades (e.g. PS+) would help in the understanding new physics signals
emerging from the LHC.

the coordination and integration of the European particle physics community should evolve
in order to comply with the global challenges as well as with regional and national policies. In our opinion
this is best achieved by a stronger coordination of the funding agencies.

the future of Particle Physics will positively intersect other fields of fundamental
research and in particular Astroparticle Physics. While we believe that cooperation among the fields
will be beneficial to their development, we also think that the two communities should develop
independent steering bodies.

Chissa’ se rimarra’ qualcuno a sfruttarne a fondo le
potenzialita’.
