The ARTE project (also financed by the Socrates ODL programme) aimed at promoting the use of ODL for teaching and learning European contemporary art Some of the teachers involved expressed the willingness to experiment the use of new technologies in the art creation process. Main Results MultimediArt Portal On-line training Course on art and new technologies Library collecting art teaching sources Art Gallery (also containing pedagogical information on new forms of art) On-Line Forum On-line Meeting Place Other Results 100 Teachers and about 800 students are now aware of how technologies can support the art creation process More appropriate use of technologies in art schools Continuous contacts and co-operation between art teachers and students throughout Europe Sharing of pedagogical material between art teachers in Europe 2 Transnational Teachers’ Workshops 8 National Teachers’ Workshops in each participating country Unexpected Results Use of the training project for the Italian teachers’ refresher course (Circolare Ministeriale N° 55 Corso di formazione B) Admission of some students to prestigious art academies on merit of their participation in the project. Improvement of the teachers’ knowledge and understanding of the English language. Organization of one to one meetings and exchanges between the partner schools. New “friendships” and collaborations.
