Their achievements are many and we have only to look at the events organized with success and the House of Saint Hilarion that is coming to its completion to realize that 2009 had brought great results to the Society. Alla fine di quest’anno non desidero rivedere quel che abbiamo fatto nel corso di dodici mesi di risultati eccellenti dal Comitato Esecutivo e dal Consiglio d’Amministrazione delle Case di Cura. Questi successi sono molti e dobbiamo soltanto pensare alle feste organizzate con successo e la nuova Casa di Sant’Ilarione che sta per essere completata per renderci conto che il 2009 é stato un anno di risultati eccelenti per la Societá. DECEMBER 2009 Rather I wish to look forward to a year that will bring a new era to the Society. In 2010 the Society will have the new House of Saint Hilarion and the new Community Centre will begin its operations in earnest. You will find the social calendar for the next 12 months in this newsletter, Most of the events will be in the Community Centre 193 Tapleys Hill Road, Seaton. At least one will be held in the new House of Saint Hilarion and another will be in more appropriate external venue. Keep an eye out for the details in future newsletters. The first event will be the Carnevale at Wayville Showgrounds on the weekend of February 6 -7. We ask as many people as possible to make themselves available as volunteers as this is of importance to the Society. In addition we have sent you a book of lottery tickets with this newsletter. We ask you to sell them as the more tickets we sell the LESS we will pay for the tent at the Carnevale. If you wish to offer as a volunteer, get more lottery tickets, or to ask for anything about this newsletter, please do not hesitate to call me on 0417 869 402. VIVA ILARIONE GIANNI PEZZANO PRESIDENTE Blessing & Topping of the Cross On Sunday 22 November 2009, Saint Hilarion Aged Care marked an important milestone in the construction of our new $30 million Aged Care and Community Centre at Seaton. Vicar-General of the Archdiocese of Adelaide, Monsignor David Cappo AO, conducted an intimate Blessing of the Cross which now adorns the top of the new chapel. He was assisted by the Provincial of the Scalabrini Fathers, Father Savino Bernardi, and Father Emilio, our Parish Priest and Spiritual Director. The chapel is strategically located within the centre of the overall development to reflect its importance to our community. One very special moment during the Ceremony involved a special acknowledgement to the 4 families who have been instrumental in the founding and evolution of the Society of St. Hilarion. These families were the Ciccarello, Costa, Fazzalari and Lamberto families. During the Ceremony we introduced the following persons who were chosen to represent their families: representing the Ciccarello family, Rosemary Velardo; representing the Costa family, Joyce Costa; representing the Fazzalari family, Rhonda Baftiroski and Representing Ilario Lamberto was his close friend Ilario Nesci. It was a wonderful day of celebration and the countdown is now on for the building completion. Festa di Maggio e Pranzo per i Volontari June 18 Giugno Chestnut/Movie Night Serata di Castagne Con Film August 1 Agosto Calabrese Afternoon Fundraising Update Pranzo Calabrese It is very pleasing to be able to report that our Building Appeal has now raised well over $1.75 million dollars, up from $1.4 million at the start of this financial year. We are therefore well on our way to securing our $3 million target. September 10 Settembre In the past two months we held two very successful fundraising events – our Melbourne Cup Luncheon, run by our Ladies’ Committee which raised over $12,000, and a Celebratory Christmas Dinner which raised $23,000. Thanks to all involved with these activities.
