LA FESTA VENEZIANA SULL’ACQUA – Opening ceremony of the Carneval
The Venetian Carnival opens with a fresh and extraordinary performance on the water, „Metarmorphosis
Aquaticae“ by the French company Ilotopie, which will lead us through a world of dreams and poetry with
an innovative show for Venice, taking place solely on the water. When the show is over, the canal of
Cannaregio will be filled up with the rhythm and music of the Dixie Funk Parade in a live concert. At this
magical evening the Circateatro Company will create a dreamlike atmosphere for the guests with a
performance using stilts “Sogno di una strampolata notturna”.

Ice skating in Venice and Mestre
Two ice skating rings, double the fun. Open every day, all day, during the Carnival, on Campo San Polo and on
Piazza Ferretto. A live music performances and dj sets will accompany the skaters during the evenings. Hours:

The traditional FESTA VENEZIANA on the water returns, with the specialities of A.E.P.E. The parade is
coordinated by Coordinamento Remiere. A traditional Venetian concert with modern interpretation from the
band “Lagunaria” will accompany the show.

An ice skating ring in the heart of the city, for the amusement of children and adults alike. During the evening,
the ice skating ring will be liven up with live music groups and dj sets.

An ice skating ring for the amusement of children and adults alike. In the afternoon, other activities will be
offered on Piazza Ferretto, to celebrate the first Sunday of Carnival, The spettacolo di trampoli a cura
dell’Associazione Circateatro will fill up the Piazza with joy, bringing entertainment, music and colour.

A big number of flags and flag bearers coming from the entire Veneto region greet the Carnival with their
unique chereopgrahy and skills. Following their act are the Maries, in a celebration of music and colours. By

LA FESTA DELLE MARIE
The traditional parade of the Maries leaves from San Pietro di Castello at 14.00 and arrives in Piazza San
Marco at around 16.00, where the 12 selected girls will march as part of the parade. Based on an idea by
Bruno Tosi. The parade is organized by C.E.R.S. with the help of Associazioni Amici del Carnevale di Venezia
and the International Association for the Carnevale di Venezia. Hosted by Maurice Agosti.

Two hours of International music on the Gran Teatro di San Marco stage, to live the rythm, the joy and the

Live music, costumes and choreography in a colourful music show by “Abba Show – Italian Abba Tribute
Band”, which relives the success of the famous Swedish band.

“SECRETS IN VENICE. ALL THE COLOURS OF MYSTERY”. A walking theatrical performance which
uncovers the secrets and mysteries of Venice. The performances are in Italian, English and French.

As part of the tradition, the Maria who won last year’s contest, Marta Finotto, will be the angel of the Carnival,
“flying” down from the bell tower to the stage of the Gran Teatro, in a performance rich with emotions and
colours. A historical parade with elaborate costumes and traditional figures will complete this breathtaking
performance!

A competition completely dedicated to kids. The competitors will parade on the Piazza Ferretto (Mestre) in
their costumes. The competition will be hosted by actors from the company “Il Libro con gli stivali” (“The book
with the boots”) During the contest there will be activities, performances and prizes for the little ones.

Il finale più atteso del Concorso vedrà i finalisti sfidarsi a colpi di costumi, colori, originalità e creatività, mentre
sul palco una giuria di esperti decreterà i vincitori del Carnevale 2013. All’interno del concorso, esibizioni di
gruppi di circo teatro: Los Kikolas, Emiliano Sanchez, Fracasse de 12 e Traut Company. Inoltre, alle 16.00,
si esibirà il gruppo russo di canti e danze “Miras”, offrendo uno spettacolo impressionante che trasmette al
pubblico la viva voce della MUSIC popolare.
The awaited final of the competition if here. Finalists will compete in rounds of costumes, colors, originality and
creativity, while on stage a jury of experts will decide the winner of Carnival 2013. In the competition, there will
