NNO MARVELLIANO”: 5 SETTEMBRE 2014 - 5 OTTOBRE 2015
X Anniversario della Beatificazione di Alberto Marvelli
Dieci anni dall’indimenticabile giorno a Loreto in cui
Alberto fu innalzato agli onori degli altari da un altro grande
beato: Giovanni Paolo II!
Vogliamo dire “Grazie!” a Dio e alla Chiesa
trasformando
l’anniversario
in
un’occasione
di
evangelizzazione e di educazione umana e civile, rivolta
preferibilmente alle giovani generazioni. Il modo migliore per
essere grati non è forse quello di annunciare Cristo risorto nel
volto dei santi e generare così nuove generazioni di cristiani?
Non solo quindi “commemorazione”, ma evangelizzazione!
Lo spirito che anima l’“Anno Marvelliano” è dettato dalla
certezza che Alberto è vivo e abita ancora tra noi: si fa
compagno e guida dei giovani nel discernere la loro
vocazione e il loro ruolo nella società; soccorre le famiglie
che si ritrovano ancora oggi nella morsa dell’indigenza; si pone al servizio del bene

comune accanto a coloro che amministrano e governano le nostre città; è attento alle
necessità materiali e spirituali della Chiesa. Le notizie che giungono quotidianamente
al Centro documentazione “A. Marvelli” testimoniano quest’”azione invisibile” di Alberto,
che raggiunge ormai tutti i continenti.
Celebrare l’”Anno Marvelliano” significa mostrare visibilmente ciò che Alberto sta
operando invisibilmente.
Tante le iniziative messe in campo (pellegrinaggi alla tomba e ai luoghi in chi ha
vissuto, musical, evangelizzazione di spiaggia, mostre, strumenti multimediali,
pubblicazioni su Alberto sportivo, veglie, e tante altre), che necessitano la
collaborazione spirituale e materiale di tutti gli “Amici di Alberto”! Inviaci anche la tua
proposta e, soprattutto, non mancare!!

L
A FEDE DI CARLA PER L’ANNO DELLA FEDE
Tra gli strumenti per riscoprire e rinsaldare la fede, spicca la
testimonianza dei santi: proponiamo la testimonianza di fede
della ven. Carla Ronci.
In un appunto del quaderno degli esercizi spirituali,
Carla scrive: «Senza fede non esiste santità: Gesù
da me esige una fede viva e cieca».
Carla ha coscienza che la fede è la via
della santità: la fede è un nuovo modo di
rapportarsi con Dio e con il prossimo. La fede è
vita; per questo non troviamo negli scritti pensieri e
ragionamenti sulla fede; la fede di Carla è evidente
nel tessuto di tutta la sua vita.
La ripresa spirituale
La fortezza della sua fede si manifesta nella sua ripresa spirituale. Il distacco
dalla vita "frivola e senza senso" che conduceva prima e che le costò molto sacrificio.
Le amiche non credevano che ce la facesse a distaccarsi dai suoi "divertimenti":
«Nessuno credeva che riuscissi a stare un anno senza andare al ballo – scrive Carla – e
non posso nemmeno dire che mi sia stato facile riuscirvi, però ormai avevo promesso e,
per amore o per forza, sono arrivata alla fine. Finito l'anno santo, non tornai al ballo, ma
lasciai il cinema e tutto il resto!".
La fede era la sua vita
La fede di Carla traspariva da ogni suo atteggiamento, da ogni sua parola, da
ogni atto. Così la percepivano le persone che le vivevano accanto o che la

incontravano anche solo occasionalmente: «Ebbe una fede certa, assoluta, incrollabile
– racconta una conoscente. Sono certa che la sua fede fu totale, come quella di
Maria. Manifestava apertamente la sua fede di fronte a tutti, senza complessi». Non le
mancavano però vere e proprie prove, ma le superava con molta forza e coraggio,
intensificando la preghiera e i sacrifici.
L’ultima prova
La fede di Carla fu messa a dura prova nella malattia, che la portò alla morte.
Dal 21 gennaio al 2 aprile consumò la sua vita in ospedale, mostrando l’eroismo della
sua fede. Il dolore, che fu tanto, anziché
sconvolgerla o turbarla la rese più limpida nelle
sue certezze.
La sua unica preoccupazione era di fare
sempre la volontà di Dio, alla quale si
abbandonava con fiducia: «Nonostante la pena
sia tanta, sento un gran desiderio di dare, di offrire,
di amare e sento che nonostante tutto la vita è
meravigliosa»; «sono felice di essere nelle mani di
Dio e di essere da Lui tanto amata».
«Solo i santi lasciano tracce: gli altri fanno
rumore».

ELLE MANI DI DIO
L’esperienza di una ragazza dopo l’incontro con Alberto Marvelli, Giovanni
Paolo II e il vescovo Tonino Bello.
In quest’anno dedicato alla Fede anche noi
giovani abbiamo voluto fare qualcosa che
facesse sì che questo anno lasciasse una traccia
nella nostra vita e non passasse inutilmente.
Abbiamo voluto degli incontri in cui
nessuno salisse in cattedra per dirci cosa sia la
fede, ma che ce la facesse vedere, assaporare,
“rispolverare” e capire come viverla davvero.
Abbiamo quindi scelto testimonial speciali:
Don Tonino Bello, Alberto Marvelli e Giovanni
Paolo II. In dono abbiamo così ricevuto tre olii
preziosi: il coraggio di vivere la vita, il coraggio di non fermarsi mai e il coraggio di
lasciar entrare nella propria vita Cristo, per alimentare le nostre candele.
Per quanto riguarda la mia esperienza di vita e di cammino, per molti anni nella
Gioventù Francescana, questa è stata, oltre quella della Tenda Eucaristica, l’esperienza
più forte.

Quando si è in cammino da tanto tempo, a volte capita di girare su se stessi e
ritornare al punto di partenza e, non sapendo dove andare, decidere di restare fissi in
un punto, nelle proprie abitudini e convinzioni. Alla Tenda
Cristo mi ha richiamata verso di sé, facendomi riscoprire
l’immenso amore che lui ha per ognuno di noi. E’ stata
una sensazione bellissima, sentivo le farfalle nello
stomaco, mi sentivo piena di gioia come se fossi
innamorata. Ora mi ha dato gli strumenti per
riaccendere la mia fede, alimentarla costantemente e
mi ha permesso di capire quale sia la mia missione:
portare la sua gioia, essere un’ala di riserva e mettermi
sempre al servizio.
Uno dei tanti miracoli che questa esperienza ha realizzato, è stato quello di
riunire giovani appartenenti a parrocchie e cammini diversi, ma che hanno un comune
denominatore: il volere essere strumenti, per far sì che molti possano incontrare nella
propria vita Dio, attraverso la nostra gioia e il nostro essere.

XII Congresso Nazionale della Fuci
Federazione Universitaria Cattolica Italiana
Rimini, 9-12 maggio 2013. Circa 200 ragazzi
provenienti da tutta Italia si sono trovati nella città di
Igino Righetti (presidente Fuci 1925-1939) e di Alberto
Marvelli (“fucino” del circolo di Bologna) per
confrontarsi sulla Democrazia, quale via per uscire
dalla crisi.
Tra il succedersi dei relatori e il susseguirsi degli
appuntamenti a un ritmo serrato, non poteva mancare la presentazione dello stile con
cui Alberto ha esercitato il suo impegno politico-amministrativo e la fonte da cui
attingeva luce e forza: l’Eucaristia.
Così lo ha presentato la prof.ssa Elisabetta Casadei, evidenziando anche il suo
coraggio e la sua lungimiranza nella difficile scelta tra scendere nell’agone politico
come candidato della Democrazia Cristiana e il mantenimento dell’iscrizione all’Azione
Cattolica (la contemporanea iscrizione era al tempo vietata); invitato a dare pubblica
spiegazione della sua scelta, Alberto rispose agli amici di AC: «Ora il mio apostolato è
questo!».

EMINARIO: IL (DIS)-IMPEGNO DEI CATTOLICI IN POLITICA
Centro culturale: parrocchia di Bagnolo in Piano (Reggio Emilia)
I giovani parrocchiani hanno affrontato “di petto” l’argomento proponendo la
testimonianza di alcune figure di spicco del laicato cattolico in politica: Vittorio
Bachelet, il giovane giudice Giuseppe Livatino assassinato dalla mafia, Giuseppe
Dossetti e a concludere Alberto Marvelli (unico beato! Almeno per ora...). Ciò che più
ha colpito i presenti è stata la capacità di Alberto di coniugare vita interiore, impegni
famigliari e le esigenze drammatiche dei cittadini riminesi e dell’intera città
martoriata dalla guerra. Una scelta d’impegno politico alimentata alle sorgenti
dall’Eucaristia e vissuta senza compromessi.

ASQUETTA CON A. MARVELLI DA TUTTO IL MONDO
… E A MARZO ATTORNO AL VESCOVO!
“Pasqua con i tuoi, Pasquetta con chi
vuoi”: e loro hanno scelto Alberto
Marvelli! C’erano proprio tutti: dal più
piccolo (4 anni) ai più grandi (over40), dai ragazzi delle superiori alle
famiglie,
dagli
educatori
al
giovanissimo don Leo.
Di fronte ad alcuni aneddoti di
“ordinaria santità” i ragazzi si sono
lasciati stupire e interrogare. La visita
a piccoli gruppi dell’”Archivio A.
Marvelli”, in cui sono custoditi gli
oggetti e gli scritti di Alberto, è stato
un momento di riflessione e di
condivisione.

VEGLIA DI PREGHIERA IN PREPARAZIONE
AL SACRAMENTO DEL MATRIMONIO
U
n libretto originale che aiuta gli sposi e i loro amici e
parenti a prepararsi con fede e con stupore alla grazia del
Matrimonio, sorretti dall’esempio e dall’intercessione di
Alberto Marvelli.
Una vera e propria Veglia, composta da canti, brani della
Scrittura e preghiere, il cui filo conduttore è l’anelito alla
santità di Alberto e la via attraverso cui l’ha raggiunta:

Strumenti agili pensati per i ragazzi per accompagnarli
nell’esperienza indimenticabile del Campo scuola. Libretti che

Carissimi amici,
l’incontro con Carla Ronci è l’incontro con il
Signore Gesù che ti parla attraverso il suo
esempio di vita, vissuta con Lui.
“Se non avessi Carla”, ripeto spesso
tra me e me, “non saprei proprio come
sopportare certe situazioni contingenti
molto difficili”. A volte, anzi spesso, sento il
cuore che mi si strugge dentro dal dolore
morale; allora il mio pensiero corre agli
scritti di Carla che con il suo racconto mi
consola tanto e mi aiuta ad andare avanti
con coraggio e generosità.
Le rinunce sono la base della sua forza, per questo Carla mi incoraggia, perché
è una donna che conosce la sofferenza e l’affronta senza paura di soffrire, senza
cercare sconti nelle pene, ma anzi, convinta e decisa ad accogliere tutto come dono
da offrire a Dio generosamente, fino all’immolazione totale di sé; quale vittima di
espiare i suoi e gli altrui peccati. Bell’esempio vero? Le mode passano, le anime sante
sono sempre lì pronte e desiderose di aiutarci e le preghiere sempre giungono alle
orecchie di Dio.
Grazie Carla, perché la mia vocazione l’ho ricevuta da Dio per mezzo tuo.
Grazie Carla, perché mi aiuti concretamente a offrire la mia vita per uno scopo
così sublime che rimarrà per sempre.

"MARVELLI YEAR": SEPTEMBER 5, 2014 - OCTOBER 5, 2015
Tenth Year Anniversary of Alberto Marvelli’s Beatificication
Ten years has passed since the unforgettable day in Loreto where Alberto was raised
to the honors of the altar by another Blessed: the Great John Paul II!
We want to say our deepest gratitude to God and to the Church for turning this year’s
anniversary into an opportunity for evangelization and human and civil education,
directed preferably to the younger generation. Is it not the best way to be grateful, is to
proclaim the risen Christ in the faces of modern saints and thus make way for new
Christian generations? Therefore, we do not only commemorate in our celebration, but
make way for evangelization!
The spirit that enlivens the "Marvelli Year" is mandated by the certainty that Alberto is
spiritually alive and still lives amongst us: he becomes our travelling companion, he is
guide for the young people to discern their vocation and role in the society; he assists
families who find themselves still today in the grip of indigence; he stands at the service
of the civil common good with those who govern and administer our city; he is carefull
to the material and spiritual needs of the Church. The news daily at the
Documentation Center "A. Marvelli testify this “invisible action" by Alberto, who has now
reached and known in all continents.
Celebrating the “Year Marvelli” means visibly showing what Alberto is working
invisibly through these years.
There are many initiatives (pilgrimage to Alberto’s tomb and historical places
connected to his life, musical, evangelization on the beach, exhibits, multimedia,
publications on Alberto, vigils, and many others), which requires material and spiritual
collaboration of all devoted "Friends of Alberto"! Please send us your suggestions, and
above all, do not miss this opportunity and event.
EXPERIENCES
THE “FAITH” OF CARLA FOR THE “YEAR OF FAITH”
Among the tools to rediscover and strengthen faith, there is the testimony of the saints:
we now take a look of faith testimony of Ven. Carla Ronci.
In the memo book of spiritual exercises, Carla wrote: “Without faith there is no holiness:
Jesus demands from me a lively and blind faith”.
Carla is aware that faith is the way to holiness: faith is a new way of relating to God
and your neighbour. The faith is life and this is the reason why we do not find in her
writings, thoughts and reasoning on faith. Carla’s faith is evident in the fabric of her life.
The spiritual renewal
The fortress of her faith is manifested in its spiritual renewal. Her detachment from
“frivolous and meaningless life” she lived beforehand cost a lot of sacrifice. At first her
friends did not believe that she was able to detach from life’s entertainment: “Nobody

believed I could stay a year without going to the dancing - writes Carla - and I cannot
even say that it was easy, but as I already promised and, by hook or by crook, it had
come to an end. At the end of the Holy Year, I did not only go to the dancing, but as well
give up on cinemas and all the rest!”.
The faith was her life
The way of Carla’s faith shone through her every character and attitude, by her
words and action. This same faith was perceived by her neighbours, close friends and
every person she met: “She had a certain, absolute, unshakable faith - says an
acquaintance. Like the Blessed Virgin Mary, I am sure that she has total faith whom she
openly manifested to everyone, without exceptions”. Carla however did not trials in faith,
but shown strength and courage, through intensified prayers and sacrifices.
The last test
Carla's faith was put to the test through her illness of lung cancer, which led to
death. From January 21 to April 2, her life was cut short in hospital, though she shows the
heroism of faith. The unbearable pain, rather to upset her emotionally and spiritually, has
made her clear in her heroic virtues.
Her only concern was always to do the will of God, to which she indulged with
confidence: "Despite so much pain, I feel a great desire to give, to offer, to love and feel
love, and despite of all I had been through, life is still wonderful”; “I'm happy to be in the
hands of God and to be beloved by Him”.
“Only saints leave indelible marks: others make noise”.

IN THE HANDS OF GOD
A girl’s testimony after knowing Alberto Marvelli, John Paul II and Bishop Tonino Bello.
In these “Year of Faith”, we the youth would want to do something that will ensure our
year well spend, thus leaving an indelible mark in our lives, and not pass uselessly.
We wanted to see faith in action, to be seen, almost to be “tasted”, living in our midst,
and how we may perceive and understandably, live it. Not only be preached in pulpits,
but a living faith in motion!
We have therefore chosen special testimonies of: Don Tonino Bello, Alberto Marvelli
and John Paul II. These gift whom we perceived as three precious oils: the courage to
live life, the courage to persevere and the courage to let Christ enter their lives, to
feed our candles in our life’s sojourn.
For many years as a Franciscan Youth, these were my most powerful life and journey’s
experience by meeting the Lord in the Eucharist Tent.
When you are on the road for so long, sometime lives happens to turn on ourselves,
returns to the starting point, leaving us and were stuck in old habits and beliefs. At the
Eucharistic Tent, Christ called me back towards the road to salvation; He made me
rediscover the immense love He has for each of us. It was a great feeling, I felt
butterflies in my stomach, and I felt joy, as if I were in love! Now He gave me “the tools”
to rekindle my faith, constantly nourishing it through Eucharist. He had me understand my
life’s mission: to bring His joy, a reserved wing and always ready, able to service.
One of the many accomplished experiences and miracles was to bring altogether
innumerable youths from several parishes and different groups. But we will always have a

common denominator, which will be “the tools”, so that many people can and will
encounter God in their lives, through our joy and our being.

LXII NATIONAL MEETING OF THE FUCI
Italian Catholic University Federation
Rimini, 9th – 12th of May, 2013. Approximately 200 young individuals from all over
Italy, gathered for series of meetings in the City of Hyginus Righetti (President Fuci 19251939) and Alberto Marvelli (“fucino” in Bologna) to discuss on “Democracy as a Way out
of the Crisis”.
Among the bouts of speakers and the brisk pace of the sequence of events, there was
the wonderful presentation in style: in which Alberto exercised his political administration
and the powerful source from which he drew light, wisdom and strength: the “Eucharist”.
The Professor Elizabeth Casadei, highlights Alberto’s courage and foreknowledge in
the formidable choice, in either ascending into the political arena as a Christian
Democrat’s candidate or maintaining his good standing and position in the Catholic
Action (simultaneous engagement was at time prohibited); he was invited to give public
explanation of his choice, Alberto said to his friends in Catholic Action: “Now my
apostolate is this!”.

Cultural Center: Parish Bagnolo in Piano (Reggio Emilia)
The young parishioners tackled “head on” arguments proposing the life and testimony
of numerous Catholic lay leading figures in politics: Vittorio Bachelet, the young judge
Giuseppe Livatino (whom Mafia had murdered), Guiseppe Dossetti and concluded by
Blessed Alberto Marvelli. What impressed most of the attendees was Alberto’s ability of
combining inner life, family commitments, secular and social needs of the citizens of
war-torn city of Rimini. His choice of political commitment, feed by the Eucharistic
springs and wholly lived life without compromise.
EASTER MONDAY WITH ALBERTO
“Easter with your family, Easter Monday with whomever you want”: and these kids,
young, adults and professionals choose Alberto Marvelli! They were all there, from the
smallest (4 years) to the adults (over 40), the high school boys accompanied by their
families and young chaplain as a guide Fr. Leo.
Faced with Blessed Alberto’s anecdotes of “ordinary holiness”, the boys were left
amazed and questioning. The tour concludes a visit to the museum and “Archive of
Alberto Marvelli”, in which objects, journals and effects relating to the life of Alberto was
kept. The tour ended with time of reflection and sharing.

Agile tools designed for boys to accompany them in the camping experience, thus
making this secular activity, a divinely unforgettable one. This booklet will surely enliven
the pasts spent together in the company of the active scout camper: Blessed Alberto
Marvelli.
Divided by stages, marking the days intended for inner works and spiritual meditation
on the Word of God and on the Written of Alberto Marvelli.
The recent testimony states, that a group of Reggio Emilia based school, which spent
a few days in Rimini followed the footsteps of Alberto Marvelli, in the scouting camp
experience that they call: “Riminando”.

Dear Friends,
The meeting with Carla Ronci is the encounter with the Lord Jesus who speaks to you,
through the example of her life, lived in Him
"If I had not Carla - I often says to myself - I would surely not know how to bear difficult
and unexpected situations”. Sometimes, and often indeed, I feel my heart melts into the
mortal pain, then my thoughts turn to the writings of Carla, who with her story comforts
me so much and it helps me to move on forwards with courage and much generosity.
The sacrifices are the basis of her strength, for this encourages me Carla, because
she is a woman who knows how to suffer and face it without fear, without diminishing it,
but rather she is convinced and determined to accept everything as a gift, generously
offering it to God, in her total self-immolation, as a victim soul to atone for her sins and
those of mankind. Perfect witness for Christ! The saints are always there ready and eager
to help us through their prayers which always come before the ears of God.
Thanks Carla, because I have received my vocation from God through you.
Thanks Carla, because you help me to offer my life, for a sublime purpose that will
remain forever.
