Now we want to
show you a tale
about italian
tradition: The
canarian prince.
Siamo qui per
presentarvi una fiaba
della tradizione
italiana:
Il principe canarino.
Once upon a time there was
a princess, her mother was
dead and she lived with her
father and her stepmother
C’era una volta una
principessa che viveva
con il papà e la matrigna
The stepmother
was jealous of the
princess, so she
decided to locked
her in a castle in
the forest.
Poiché la matrigna
era invidiosa della
principessa, la fece
rinchiudere in un
castello nel bosco.
One day a prince saw
the princess looking out
of the tower windows.
They felt in love at first
sight.
Un giorno passò un
principe e vide la
principessa alla finestra. Si
innamorarono a prima
vista.
Later a witch decided to help them
and gave the princess a magic book:
if the pages turned forward, the
prince had turned into a canary; if
the pages turned back the canary
had became a man once more.
Dopo un po’ passò una masca che
decise di aiutare i due innamorati e
diede un libro magico alla
principessa: se si fossero voltate le
pagine in avanti l’uomo si sarebbe
trasformato in canarino, se si
fossero voltate al contrario il
canarino sarebbe ritornato uomo
The princess turned over the
page and the prince was
changed into a canary. He flew
to the princess. For a long time
they met themselves in this
way.
La principessa voltò le pagine del
libro e il principe si trasformò in
canarino, così poté volare dalla
principessa. Per molto tempo si
incontrarono in questo modo.
One day the
stepmother came
to see the
princesse and
hidden she put
pins on a cushion
on the window
sill.
Un giorno la matrigna andò a
trovare la principessa e si accorse del
principe, così senza farsi vedere,
mise degli spilloni sopra un cuscino
sul davanzale.
Quando la matrigna andò via il
principe, trasformato in
canarino, volò sul cuscino e si
ferì. La principessa lo trasformò
di nuovo in uomo ma le ferite
rimasero.
When the stepmother
went away, the prince,
changed into the
canary, flew on the
cushion and he hurt
himself. The princess
changed him into a
man but the wounds
remained.
Hunters helped him and brought him to
royal palace. The king promised
treasures who had cured his son.
I cacciatori lo soccorsero e
lo portarono alla reggia. Il
re promise tesori a chi
avesse guarito suo figlio.
That night the princess let
down from the tower and
she heard four witches
that were talking; they
also told her that the knew
how to cure the prince
Quella notte la principessa si
calò dalla torre e sentì quattro
masche che se la raccontavano;
dissero anche che conoscevano
la cura per guarire il principe.
The princess disguised as a doctor; she went
to the prince and she cured him; as a reward
asked the coat of family and the bloody
jacket of the prince.
La principessa si
travestì da medico,
andò dal principe
e lo guarì; come
ricompensa chiese
lo stemma di
famiglia e il
giubbetto
insanguinato del
principe.
When the prince came back to the wood he didn’t
deign to look at the princess, considereded the
cause of his illness. The princess told him the truth
and they made peace.
Il principe quando
tornò nel bosco non
degnò di uno sguardo
la principessa,
considerata la causa di
quanto accaduto. La
principessa però gli
disse la verità e fecero
pace.
The prince came
back to the royal
palace and he told
his father he wanted
to marry the woman
who saved his life.
Il principe tornò alla
reggia e disse a suo
padre che voleva
sposare la donna che gli
aveva salvato la vita.
The king agreed and also
forgave the stepmother
who regretted of one’s
wicked actions. So the
marriage was celebrated
with friendship and love.
Il re acconsentì e perdonò anche la
matrigna che si era pentita di tutte le
cattiverie commesse.
Fu così che le nozze furono celebrate
all’insegna dell’amicizia e dell’amore e
furono motivo di gioia per tutti.
The big love among the prince and the princess
made the king and the queen understand that the
forgiveness and the friendship are the most
important things in the life. We believe every
mistake can easily be put right: we can begin again
in the correct way. We think it’s not worthwhile to
bear someone a grudge for friends and schoolmates
errors.
Il grande amore tra il principe e la principessa ha fatto
capire al re e alla regina che il perdono e l’amicizia
valgono più di ogni altra cosa. Siamo anche convinti che
non ci sia nulla che non possa essere rimediato ma che si
può sempre ricominciare. Anche noi pensiamo che non
valga la pena portare rancore per gli sbagli commessi da
amici e compagni.
