Inspired by a Breton legend, Le Roi d’Ys contains
all the ingredients of a fine romantic tale: love, jealousy, fear and a touch of magic. The story is well
supported by music that is effective, full of colour
and contrasts, with wonderful airs and duets, and
a splendid overture.
Patrick Davin conducts; Jean-Louis Pichon’s creative staging includes special effects worthy of the
seventh art. Giuseppina Piunti (Margared) has
appeared on the most important stages in Europe
and North America; Sébastien Guèze (Rozenn)
enthused the audiences in Valencia during the
finals of the Operalia competition.
