On Elba, you always travel on foot. On every island of the Tuscan Archipelago, you can walk up the slopes, into the valleys, reach the coasts, through the woods, and along ancient lanes; an engaging way to enjoy healthy leisure time. Hike solo or with your loved ones to share the intense beauty that is good for the heart. The park provides expert guides to liven up excursions. Unlock your senses and allow this place to touch you, feel the changing warmth of the sun as the hours pass, smell the multitude of perfumes, touch crinkly marine flowers and rough granite, drink from a spring, sit under the ample branches of a tree, and listen to a bird song. Enhance the experience of being there, spend a day out or plan for a day to remember. Bring along a pair of binoculars, a notebook and pencil, and maybe a magnifying glass to discover an almost invisible world. Observe the horizon and the mountains framing an elusive silhouette, hold on to the stolen moment. See and understand, become part of the context. Intensify physical expression and move without stereotypes. This renews internal energy and develops anti-stress endorphins. We all need movement outdoors and the experience of walking and observing life. A little notebook of personal observations holds the images that we have encountered and shared with others. Direct your gaze toward the beautiful spurred by curiosity, a great resource to prevent detachment from the natural world, avoiding the illusion that technology is the only solution. Learning from nature is too important an exercise to be missed. Each year we propose a brief journey to explore and experience nature. Pick up your free booklet on the trails in the National Park headquarters, a few miles from Portoferraio. In this pocket manual, you will find a brief description of routes including distances and observation suggestions. Hikers are welcome to stay longer in any spot to have a better look at the great biodiversity of nature, and then turn back. Always remember not to get too tired, because walking is, first, a pleasure. Information is on our website at: www.infopark.it
