I
Artificio è un evento di 10 giorni durante
i quali una selezione di designer ticinesi o che risiedono in Ticino, ha la possibilità di mostrare alcuni prodotti nelle vetrine dei negozi della Città
di Lugano. Il percorso si snoda tra lo Spazio 1929
di Via Ciseri 3, fino a raggiungere il LAC,
il nuovo polo culturale della Città di Lugano.
Artificio è un evento dedicato alle differenti discipline del design, la sua finalità ha
carattere culturale e sociale. Intende stimolare
l’interazione tra arte, design, istituzioni e pubblico, valorizzando il lavoro di quei designer che da
sempre operano sul territorio, ma anche quello
di coloro che si sono trasferiti altrove. Queste
esperienze nei differenti ambiti del design sono
una testimonianza importante del panorama
creativo nazionale e internazionale, una realtà
spesso sconosciuta ai più.

Artificio is a 10 day event which showcases the work of a selection of designers from
Ticino, in the shop front windows of Lugano.
The trail begins at Spazio 1929 in Via Ciseri 3
and meanders through the city’s center,
culminating at LAC, the new cultural center
of the city.
Artificio is an event dedicated to the various disciplines of design and has both cultural
and social aims. The intention is to encourage
interactions between art, design, the institution and the public, and to value the work of
designers from Ticino. Events such as Artificio
are an important testimony to the breadth of our
national and international talent which too often
remains unknown to a broader audience.

I Una scintilla accende il design ticinese.
Artificio, l’evento che avrà luogo per la prima
volta quest’autunno nella Città di Lugano, è
stato avviato da giovani curatori e designer
con molta passione e impegno.
Il fulcro dell’evento consiste nel voler presentare ad un ampio pubblico i designer ticinesi e il loro operato. Si tratta di un progetto
particolarmente importante per il Ticino data
la carenza di una simile piattaforma.
Con Artificio i curatori gettano un’ampia
rete che non solo congiunge l’intera Città,
ma che grazie alla differenziata e vasta proposta tra design, arte, artigianato e commercio coinvolge un pubblico diversificato.
Circa trenta negozi e ristoranti della Città
invitano ad una passeggiata all’insegna del
design, un tragitto che può essere casuale,
ma anche, per chi lo desiderasse, accompagnato da una segnaletica, che guida attraverso la Città e che permette ai visitatori di
ammirare i prodotti di designer appartenenti
alle più svariate espressioni del design: gioielli, ceramiche, opere grafiche, fotografie e
illustrazioni, moda, design tessile e mobili.

La gamma dei professionisti coinvolti è vasta
e variegata: dai giovani designer che sono
all’inizio della loro carriera e che ricevono
nel vero senso della parola la loro prima
vetrina, ai designer affermati, conosciuti e
premiati che possono venire riscoperti.
Non sono tutti attivi in Ticino, alcuni hanno
studiato in Svizzera Tedesca o Francese dove
sono poi rimasti, ma sarà dunque anche occasione di rincontro.
La cultura del design ticinese è particolarmente ricca ed è assolutamente necessario che venga diffusa e sostenuta. Pongo le
mie speranze nel successo di Artificio.

E A spark ignites design in Ticino.
Artificio was conceived by a passionate and
committed group of young designers and
curators, and is being held for the first time
in Lugano this autumn.
It aims to present the work of Ticino
designers to the widest possible audience,
consequently and importantly establishing
for the first time, an ongoing platform for
design in Ticino.
The curators of Artificio have established a vast web that connects designers,
the city, its commerce and the public. The
event includes jewellery, ceramics, graphic
design, photography, illustration, fashion,
textile design and furniture. The works are on
display at locations around the city, including
various shops and restaurants and can either
be viewed at random, or visitors can opt for
a more in- depth, significant experience by
following the design trail indicated by the
accompanying signage and map.
The professional designers whose works
are on display represent a vast and varied selection. They range from emerging designers

showing their work for the first time, to wellknown, established, prize- winners. Not all of
the designers are actively working in Ticino.
Some have studied and currently work in the
French or German regions of Switzerland.
But all have come together for Artificio to
celebrate and unite Ticino’s design heritage.
The culture of design in Ticino is particularly rich, and it is an absolute necessity that
it is sustained and diffused throughout the
community and beyond. I wish Artificio the
greatest success.

Antonietta Airoldi si diploma nel 1984 presso il CSIA di
Lugano, e nello stesso anno apre il suo atelier a Pezzolo (Capriasca
in Svizzera) dove tuttora vive e lavora. Inizia inoltre la sua attività
espositiva, che continua con regolarità sia in Svizzera che in Europa.
Nel 1989 frequenta un corso di perfezionamento a Parigi
presso l’École Esmode, conseguendo nello stesso anno la qualifica federale di perito d’esame per creatori di tessuto. Prosegue
in parallelo sul versante della didattica sia nell’atelier 102 di Egon
Schnebeli a Lugano, che nell’ambito di corsi organizzati dallo Stato.
Attualmente insegna tecniche tessili presso il CSIA.
Come Fiber Artist, è impegnata da anni in un’originale ricerca
che l’ha condotta nella sperimentazione della “art to wear”.

In 1984 Antonietta Airoldi graduated from CSIA in Lugano
and opened her studio in Pezzolo (Capriasca in Switzerland). In
the same year she also started exhibiting her work regularly in
Switzerland and throughout Europe.
In 1989 Antonietta carried out further studies at the l’École Esmode
in Paris and in the same year qualified as a Federal expert examiner
in her field. During this time, Antonietta also had experience in the
atelier 102 of Egon Schnebeli in Lugano and in other work experience positions organised by the Canton of Ticino. She currently
teaches at CSIA.
As a Fiber Artist, Antonietta is primarily interested in the
exploration of “art to wear”.

Tonatiuh Ambrosetti

Nato in Ticino nel 1980, Tonatiuh Ambrosetti è fotografo
freelance dal 2005. Nel 2006 si laurea presso l’ECAL di Losanna e
nel 2008 consegue un diploma post laurea nello stesso istituto.
Tra il 2006 e il 2007 è assistente del capo dipartimento di fotografia a l’ECAL e dal 2012 professore di fotografia nella stessa scuola.
Dal 2015 è membro del consiglio editoriale della rivista ARCHI.
Tonatiuh Ambrosetti ha esposto in numerose mostre personali e collettive e nel 2012 ha ottenuto una nomina allo Swiss
Design Awards.

Born in Ticino in 1980, Tonatiuh Ambrosetti has worked as
a freelance photographer since 2005. In 2006 he graduated from
ECAL (Lausanne) where in 2008 he also completed a post-graduate
diploma. From 2006 to 2007, Tonatiuh assisted the head of the photography department at ECAL and in 2012 also became a professor
there. In 2015 he joined the editorial council for the architectural
journal ARCHI.
Tonatiuh Ambrosetti has exhibited in numerous personal
and collective exhibitions and in 2012 was nominated for the Swiss
Design Awards.

Giulia Maria Beretta

Giulia Maria Beretta è un’artista ticinese nata nel 1965 da padre svizzero-americano e da madre danese. È nipote dello scrittore
danese-norvegese Aksel Sandemose.
Tra il 1982 e il 1985 si forma come ceramista nell’atelier dei
nonni “Ceramica San Rocco”, sul Monte Verità sopra Ascona,
successivamente, dal 1986 al 1988, si perfeziona all’Harrow College
of Art Design di Londra. Dal 1988 apre un proprio atelier-studio ad
Ascona, dove lavora fino al 1994, anno in cui si trasferisce a Zurigo.
Recentemente ha vissuto e lavorato a Londra e da quest’anno
è di nuovo in Ticino, a Locarno.

Giulia Maria Beretta was born in Ticino in 1965 to an
American-Swiss father and Danish mother. She is the granddaughter of the Danish writer Aksel Sandemose.
She trained as a ceramicist at her grandparent’s atelier
“Ceramica San Rocco” at Monte Verità from 1982 to 1985 and subsequently furthered her studies at the Harrow College of Art and
Design in London from 1986 to 1988. In 1988 Giulia opened her own
studio in Ascona where she worked until 1994, after which time she
moved to Zurich.
More recently, she has worked and lived in London and this
year has returned to Locarno, in Ticino.

Ursula Bucher

Ursula Bucher è nata a Roveredo (Grigioni) nel 1977. Dopo
aver studiato grafica allo CSIA di Lugano si trasferisce a Lyon, dove
consegue il diploma in illustrazione nel 2002, presso la scuola Emile
Cohl. Da allora vive a Lugano dove lavora come illustratrice di libri
per l’infanzia e grafica freelance.
Collabora con alcune case editrici italiane, tra cui Lapis, Kite,
Piemme, e con la casa editrice Fleurus di Parigi.

Ursula Bucher was born in Roveredo, Graubunden in 1977.
Following Graphic Design studies at CSIA in Lugano, she moved
to Lyon where she graduated in 2002 with a diploma in illustration
from the Emile Cohl school. Since this time, Ursula has lived and
worked as an illustrator for children’s books and as a freelance
Graphic Designer.
She collaborates with a number of Italian editing houses including Lapis, Kite, Piemme and with Parisian editing house Fleurus.

Fondato nel 2007 a Losanna, lo studio Demian Conrad Design
lavora prevalentemente nell’ambito culturale e artistico su scala
internazionale, vantando tra i suoi clienti istituzioni quali Art Basel,
Pro Helvetia, WWF. Vincitore del premio europeo per il miglior
poster 100 Beste Plakate nel 2009, 2010 e 2011, nel 2012 allo studio
è stata conferita un’onorificenza da parte del Presidente della
Confederazione per un francobollo disegnato per la Posta Svizzera.
Con il logo DADADUM lo studio si aggiudica nel 2013 il primo premio
agli European Design Awards. Parallelamente all’attività di art director
dello studio, Demian insegna Editorial Design alla HEAD di Ginevra.
Alcuni dei suoi progetti sono inoltre conservati in collezioni
come quella del Museum Für Gestaltung di Zurigo e dell’archivio
di Chaumont in Francia.

Grazia Conti Rossini

Nata a Brissago nel 1956, Grazia Conti Rossini studia all’École
des Arts Appliquées di Vevey (1972-1977). Nel 1981 apre un proprio
atelier a Zurigo e, dopo una pausa tra il 1988 e il 1995, lavora dal
1995 al 2001 a Dietikon e dal 2002 a Meilen (Svizzera).
Le sue ceramiche sono state esposte in numerose mostre
personali e collettive, inoltre hanno ottenuto il secondo premio
al concorso di ceramica svizzero, Die Platte, Soletta (1999) e due
nomine agli Swiss Federal Design Awards (2012 e 2013).

Born in Brissago in 1956, Grazia Conti Rossini studied at the
Applied Arts School in Vevey from 1972 to 1977. In 1981 she opened
her own atelier in Zurich until taking a break in 1988. From 1995 to
2001 she lived and worked in Dietikon, Switzerland and from 2002
in Mielen, Switzerland.
Grazia’s ceramic work has been exhibited in numerous
solo and group exhibitions and was awarded the Die Platte,
Swissceramics (Solothurn) Prize in 1999 and she was nominated
in 2012 and 2013 for the Swiss Federal Design Awards.

Elena Crivelli

La designer ticinese Elena Crivelli si è formata presso l’Istituto Marangoni di Milano nel 1995. Terminati gli studi e dopo diverse
esperienze professionali, nel 1999 decide di aprire il suo primo
atelier a Mendrisio, dove vive.
Da oltre 15 anni disegna e realizza due collezioni l’anno – piccole produzioni tra passato e contemporaneità – create unicamente
con materiali pregiati. Le sue collezioni sono composte da colori
e linee molto femminili che non perdono però di vista confort e
funzionalità.
Dal 2009 trasferisce la sua attività in un edificio storico di
Chiasso dove, accanto alla linea d’abbigliamento e.na e alla sua linea
di gioielli in oro e.na_mini, vende mobili vintage e oggetti d’arredo.

Fashion designer Elena Crivelli studied at the Institute
Marangoni in Milan in 1995. Following her studies, and after various
experiences working in her field, Elena opened her first atelier in
her home town of Mendrisio in 1999.
For more than 15 years she has designed and produced two
collections each year, each being a series of small productions
created only with fine, carefully selected materials. Her collections
are composed of feminine lines and colours, while also ensuring
comfort and functionality.
In 2009 she moved her studio to Chiasso where her clothing
brand e.na and her gold jewellery line e.na_mini is for sale alongside vintage furniture and design objects.

Nato a Lille in Francia nel 1978, Antoine Déprez studia arti
grafiche presso L’École Emile Cohl a Lyon. Nel 2002 ottiene il
diploma di illustratore-pittore e si trasferisce a Lugano. Lavora
come illustratore in diversi campi: nell’editoria per l’infanzia, nel
settore del film d’animazione, per la stampa e per la pubblicità.
Parallelamente svolge l’attività di pittore realizzando lavori personali. Insegna illustrazione al corso di Comunicazione Visiva del
Bachelor SUPSI di Lugano.

Born in Lille (France) in 1978, Antoine Déprez studied
Graphic Arts at the École Emile Cohl in Lyon. In 2002 he obtained

works as an illustrator in various fields including children’s books,

Nata a Faido nel 1982, Daniela Droz si forma come fotografa all’ECAL di Losanna, dove consegue il bachelor nel 2008,
comincia subito a lavorare come fotografa indipendente e dal 2012
insegna fotografia.
Daniela Droz ha esposto in numerose mostre personali e
collettive nazionali e internazionali. Nel 2007 è stata nominata
all’ITS (International Talent Support), Trieste e nel 2012 allo Swiss
Design Awards. Ha inoltre vinto il premio BFF (Berufsverband Freie
Fotografen und Filmgestalter) di Stoccarda.

Born in Faido in 1982, Daniela Droz trained in photography at
ECAL where she completed her Bachelor studies in 2008 and where
she has taught since 2012. Since 2008 she has concurrently worked
as a freelance photographer.
Daniela Droz has exhibited in numerous swiss and international solo and group exhibitions. In 2007 she was nominated for
ITS Six award (International Talent Support) in Trieste and in 2012
she was shortlisted for the Swiss Design Awards. Daniela also won
the BFF (Berufsverband Freie Fotografen und Filmgestalter) prize in
Stuttgart in 2010.

Paolo Fancelli
Industrial Design

Nato nel 1964, Paolo Fancelli si diploma nel 1990 come industrial designer presso l’ECAL a Losanna.
Dopo il primo impiego per Ludwig Walser Design AG e uno
stage presso Bally Design Inc. a Pittsburgh, (1991-1999), nel 2000
apre il suo proprio studio a Zurigo dove realizza prodotti commissionati da molte aziende dell’industria delle macchine agricole,
medica e alimentare. Inoltre progetta mobili per ufficio, attrezzature
analitiche e di precisione, elettrodomestici, orologi e altri beni di
consumo, tra cui un modello di coltellino svizzero.

Born in 1964, Paolo Fancelli graduated in Industrial Design
from ECAL in Lausanne in 1990.
Following his professional experience at Ludwig Walser
Design AG and Bally Design Inc. in Pittsburgh (1991-1999), he
opened his own studio in Zurich in 2000 where he has created
commissioned products for companies in the mountain agriculture,
medical, culinary, office furnishing, precision instrument, domestic
appliance and watch industries. Among other consumer products,
he has also designed a Swiss pocket knife.

Sara Forzano
Textile Design

I
Nata nel 1977, Sara Forzano si è formata allo CSIA di Lugano
come creatrice di tessuti. In seguito ha studiato comunicazione visiva e grafica alla SUPSI di Lugano diplomandosi nel 2001. Dal 2005
insegna nell’area tessile presso lo CSIA e ha un atelier dove crea i
suoi tessuti.
I suoi lavori sono stati esposti a Lugano, Zurigo, Losanna,
Ginevra e Winterthur e collezionati dal Museo Nazionale Svizzero
di Zurigo.

Sara Forzano was born in 1977. She studied textiles (hand
weaving) at CSIA in Lugano and subsequently obtained a bachelor
in visual communication and Graphic Design at SUPSI in Lugano
(2001). From 2005 Sara has taught at CSIA and has produced textiles in her own atelier.
Her work has been exhibited in Lugano, Zurich, Lausanne,
Geneve and Winterthur and collected by the Swiss National
Museum of Zurich.

Veruska Gennari

Nata a Bellinzona nel 1970, Veruska Gennari studia allo CSIA
di Lugano e successivamente consegue il diploma alla SUPSI come
Graphic Designer. Dal 2000 lavora come grafica indipendente e nel
2002 apre monostudio. Dal 2013 insegna grafica e comunicazione
presso DACD SUPSI nella sede di Lugano-Trevano.
Parallelamente dal 2014 progetta e realizza complementi
d’arredo. La collezione SFG (Small Family Growing), attualmente
composta da 17 pezzi, è stata presentata a MiArt fiera d’arte e di
design a Milano nel 2014 e nel 2015, attraverso la Galleria di Design
del ‘900 Demosmobilia.

in Lugano and subsequently completed a University degree at
SUPSI in Lugano in Graphic Design. From 2000 she has worked as a
freelance graphic designer and in 2002 she opened her own atelier.
Since 2013 Veruska has taught Graphic Design and communication
at DACD and SUPSI.
Since 2014, she has designed and produced furnishings
including the collection SFG (Small Family Growing) which is
comprised of 17 pieces and was presented at MiArt (art and design
fair, Milan) in 2014 and 2015 by the Design Gallery from the XXth
Century Demosmobilia.

Natalia Gianinazzi

Natalia Gianinazzi è nata a Lugano nel 1978. Nel 1998 si diploma in Graphic Design allo CSIA di Lugano. Dopo diverse esperienze
di lavoro, anche all’estero, dal 2002 vive e lavora a Zurigo come designer di tessili e illustratrice. Nel 2003 ha cominciato a sviluppare
il progetto Gruesli che le ha dato visibilità internazionale nel campo
del toy design. Da marzo 2003, sono nati più di 1’040 Gruesli, che
sono stati adottati da famiglie di tutto il mondo. L’idea di Natalia è
di creare una famiglia internazionale di genitori adottivi che non abbia né confini né religioni e di riflettere, con le proprie creazioni, la
sua visione della nostra società. Nel giugno del 2008, i Gruesli sono
stati i primi animali di stoffa al mondo ad essere stati messi all’asta
da Christie’s, e venduti, nella sezione Pop culture.

Natalia Gianinazzi was born in Lugano in 1978. In 1998 she
graduated in Graphic Design at CSIA, in Lugano. Following varied
professional experiences in Switzerland and abroad, from 2002 she
has lived and worked in Zurich as a textile designer and illustrator.
In 2003 she commenced the development of the Gruesli project
which launched her into the international toy design industry scene.
Since March 2003, more than 1’040 Gruesli have been born and
adopted by families from all over the world. Natalia’s idea is to
create an international family of adoptive parents without borders
and religion, with her creations she reflects the way she sees our
society. In June 2008, the Gruesli’s were the first stuffed animals in
the world to be auctioned and sold at Christie’s in the Pop culture
division.

studia alla RMIT University di Melbourne, dove consegue il Master
in Fine Arts (2003) e insegna al Dipartimento di Gioielleria (20042007). Nel 2006 in Australia gli viene assegnato l’Emerging Artists
Grant. Rientrato in Svizzera nel 2008, vince nello stesso anno il
Premio Federale del Design e nel 2014 il Mari Funaki Award for
Contemporary Jewellery.

Born in Bellinzona in 1974, Graziano (Kiko) Gianocca studied
gold and silversmithing at the Art Institute CFP in Florence, graduating with a bachelor in fine arts in 1999. From 2000-2001 he studied
in the invited student program at the Escola Massana in Barcelona.
From 2003 to 2008 Kiko lived in Melbourne, where he completed
his master degree at RMIT University (2003-2004) and where he
also taught from 2004 until 2007. In 2006 he won the Emerging
Artists Grant from the Australian Government. After returning to
Switzerland in 2008 he won the Swiss Design Prize and in 2014 he
won the Mari Funaki Award for Contemporary Jewellery.
His work has been exhibited around the world and collected
by Australian National Galleries in Melbourne, Brisbane & Adelaide,
as well as at the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, the CODA
Museum in Apeldoorn (Netherlands) and MUDAC in Lausanne.

Francesco Girardi è nato nel 1974 a Bellinzona, città dove tuttora risiede. Nel 1996, dopo quattro anni di apprendistato, si diploma
come fotografo ottenendo l’attestato federale. Nel 1997 lavora come
assistente al Centro Man Ray di Cagliari e dal 2000 al 2004 a Zurigo
per diversi studi pubblicitari. Nel 2005 collabora al SFINKS Festival
di Anversa. Nel 2010 è impegnato a El Mirage in California (USA)
nella realizzazione di un making-of pubblicitario.
Attualmente collabora con la SUPSI in qualità di docente per
il dipartimento Conservazione e Restauro e con la RSI (MCC, Multi
Crossroad Center).

Francesco Girardi was born in 1974 in Bellinzona, where he
now lives and works. In 1996, following a four year apprenticeship,
Francesco graduated as a photographer. In 1997 he worked as an
assistant at the Man Ray Centre in Cagliari and from 2000 to 2004
he lived and worked in Zurich for various publicity agencies. In
2005 he participated in the SFINKS Festival in Anversa and in 2010
was engaged at El Mirage in California (USA) for an advertising
making-of.
Currently he collaborates at SUPSI as a teacher for the
Conservation and Restoration department and works at RSI (MCC,
Multi Crossroad Center).

Nel 2000 si diploma alla SUPSI di Lugano, dove attualmente insegna. Dal 2001 lavora come grafico freelance e insegna anche presso

Nato a Locarno nel 1975, Sidi Vanetti studia prima allo CSIA
di Lugano e successivamente alla SUPSI dove nel 2000 consegue
il diploma con una tesi sulla comunicazione visiva in rapporto al
pensiero narrativo dei bambini (con Andreas Gysin). Da questo momento, in stretta collaborazione con Andreas Gysin, sviluppa anche
dei progetti di ricerca in ambito artistico. Attualmente lavora come
grafico per il Museo Cantonale d’Arte a Lugano e dal 2007 insegna
alla SUPSI di Lugano.

Born in Zurich in 1975, Andreas Gysin lives and works in
Lugano. He graduated from SUPSI in Lugano in 2000 where he
currently teaches. He has also taught at ECAL in Lausanne since
2006. Gysin has worked in Lugano as a freelance graphic designer
since 2001.
Born in Locarno in 1975, Sidi Vanetti studied at CSIA in
Lugano and subsequently at SUPSI where he graduated in 2000
with a thesis in visual communication and its relationship to the
narrative thoughts of children (with Andreas Gysin). From this point
in time he has worked in close collaboration with Andreas Gysin,
developing projects in the arts. Currently he works as a graphic
designer for the Cantonal Art Museum in Lugano and since 2007,
has taught at SUPSI in Lugano.

Nato a Lucerna nel 1954, Felix Hug studia alla Fachklasse für
Keramik della Kunstgewerbeschule di Berna tra il 1972 e 1975, anno

Born in 1973 in Rüti, Natalie Luder studied jewelry design
at the Geneva school of applied Arts (1999-2003) and at the Gerrit

approach in her work. She never felt limited to stay within boundaries of jewelry, but she feels free to create other objects. Her work

fascinating aspects to her. Such themes can be applied to both food
and ornament. Her work has been exhibited in numerous solo and
group exhibitions and has won various awards including the Swiss
Federal Design award in 2009.

Filippo Mambretti è nato a Como nel 1981. Frequenta il

presso il Politecnico di Milano e in seguito la laurea magistrale in

Docente e professionista nel campo del design di prodotto
e della progettazione di interni, vincitore di innumerevoli premi di
design attualmente, oltre ad insegnare presso le scuole Svizzere di
Design ed Arti applicate SSS_AA e CSIA, dirige il Mambrò Design
Studio (fondato a Chiasso nel 2011), attivo sia in Svizzera che in tutta
Europa, grazie alla viva collaborazione con diverse realtà dell’industria, del design e della progettazione architettonica.

Filippo Mambretti was born in Como in 1981. He attended
the B. Luini arts high school in Cantù, where he had the opportunity to meet the notable Italian designer Bruno Munari. It was in
this moment that Filippo’s passion for design took root. Following
bachelor and post-graduate studies, Filippo gained a master degree
in Furniture Design from the Politecnico University in Milano.
He currently works as a product, furniture and interior designer, as well as lecturing at SSS_AA and CSIA, two schools which

Sophie Depéry, 37 anni, è direttrice artistica nel settore orologiero. Dopo gli studi in design industriale presso l’ECAL di Losanna,
ha fondato con Singal Moesch e Olivier Burgisser l’atelier di design
Lifegoods. In seguito al Master in Design e Industria del Lusso presso l’ECAL è approdata nel mondo dell’industria orologiera.

Signal Moesch, 33 years old, was born and raised in Ticino
on a remote mountain in the Valley of Onsernone. Following his
studies at CSIA in Lugano, he graduated in product design at
ECAL in Lausanne. Today he practices independently as a designer
in Lausanne and collaborates regularly with Olivier Rambert for
Edition Moyard and his partner Sophie Depéry.
Sophie Depéry, 37 years old, is an artistic director in the
watch industry. Following her studies at ECAL in Lausanne she
founded the design studio Lifegoods with Signal Moesch and
Olivier Burgisser. During her masters study in Product Design
at ECAL she furthered her expertise in the watch industry.

Nato a Ragusa nel 1955, Vito Noto, allievo di Alberto Rosselli
e Isao Hosoe, si diploma presso la scuola politecnica del Design
di Milano. A seguito di diverse esperienze professionali in illustri
studi di design a Zurigo, Amburgo e Parigi, nel 1982 fonda il suo
studio a Cadro.
Insignito di prestigiosi riconoscimenti nazionali e internazionali (tra cui il Design Preis Schweiz, vari Compassi d’oro, ADI
Design Index e IF Die gute Industrie Form), Vito Noto è stato anche
incluso nella rosa dei 25 designer svizzeri pubblicati nel volume
DESIGNsuisse (2006).
Apparecchiature biomedicali e ottiche, macchine tessili,
macchine utensili, macchine del settore alimentare, elettronica
d’intrattenimento e per l’ufficio, attrezzature e complementi d’arredo, sono alcuni degli ambiti di intervento di Vito Noto.

Architettura a Mendrisio (nell’Atelier Keller e Blumer). Lavora due
anni presso lo studio Guidotti Architetti a Monte Carasso.
Attualmente lavora come architetto e designer indipendente.
Tra i suoi progetti si possono menzionare gli arredi al Turba di Lugano.

Malcantone for 26 years, after which time he moved to Lugano

Smoke & Mirror è composto da due ragazzi nati e cresciuti
in due località opposte. La mente proviene da una cittadina che si
affaccia sul mare nel sud del Galles. Dopo gli studi, si è trasferito a
Lugano per lavoro. Il braccio proviene da un paesino di montagna
in Svizzera, ed anche lui è arrivato a Lugano per questioni lavorative. Entrambi hanno alle spalle diversi anni di esperienza per note
aziende che operano nel settore della moda in Europa.
Dal mese di maggio 2014 hanno deciso di creare il loro marchio, Smoke & Mirror, il quale produce abiti sartoriali in Svizzera
e in Italia.

Smoke & Mirror are two guys born and raised in two different
places. One half comes from a small seaside town in Southern
Wales who, after studying moved to Lugano for work. The other
half comes from a mountain village in Switzerland and also now
lives and works in Lugano. Both have many years of work experience working for luxury fashion brands in Europe.
Smoke & Mirror was created in May 2014 and produces hand
made garments in Switzerland and Italy.

Nato nel 1983, Claudio Sprugasci ha studiato all’ECAL di
Losanna dal 2009 al 2013. Nell’estate 2009 ha vinto il primo premio
del concorso d’arte della Notte Bianca di Locarno con il progetto
Discfunction. Durante i quattro anni di corsi si è contraddistinto per
il suo stile semplice e coerente. Ha finito il ciclo di studi con una
delle migliori tesi, Au de-là de l’objet, un saggio sulla vita e l’interdipendenza necessaria all’identificazione degli oggetti.
Ha iniziato ad occuparsi di grafica, fotografia e comunicazione per negozi, bar, manifestazioni e aziende, progettando loghi, edizioni cartacee, manifesti e flyer. Nei mesi di giugno e luglio 2014 ha
svolto un praticantato presso il Paolo Fancelli Studio di Bellinzona.

Born in 1983, Claudio Sprugaschi studied at ECAL (Lausanne)
from 2009 until 2013. In the summer of 2009, he won the first
prize in the Notte Bianca competition in Locarno with the project
Discfunction. During his studies, he became known for his own
simple and coherent style and completed his studies with one of
the best thesis of the year: Au de-là de l’objet, an essay on life’s
dependence and our need to identify with objects.
He has since begun to work in the fields of Graphic Design,
photography and communication and has completed projects for
a number of commercial spaces and enterprises. In June and July
2014 he worked in the studio of Paolo Fancelli in Bellinzona.

Salvatore Vitale, fotografo freelance nato nel 1986 a

intraprende la sua ricerca in ambito fotografico. Nel 2012 partecipa
alla Reflextions Masterclass, rivolto ai giovani talenti della fotografia internazionale condotto da G. Fiorio e G. Bauret. Nel 2014
frequenta la classe di Allen Frame all’ICP (International Center of
Photography) di New York. Nel 2015 è selezionato alla Masterclass
internazionale dell’ISSP, condotta da A. Polikanov e Y. Kozyrev.
Nello stesso anno vince il Die Besten 2014 agli Swiss Photo Awards
con il progetto The Moon Was Broken. Nel 2012 fonda YET magazine, pubblicazione svizzera sulla fotografia, la quale mira a fornire

Salvatore Vitale was born in 1986 in Palermo (Italy) and
currently lives and works in Lugano as a freelance photographer.
Following studies in Communication Science at USI in Lugano,
he undertook research in the photographic discipline. In 2012 he
was nominated at the Reflextions Masterclass, dedicated to young
international photography talent and conducted by G. Fiorio and
G. Bauret. In 2014 he attended the class of Allen Frame at ICP
(International Center of Photography), in New York and in 2015 he
was selected for the international master class of ISSP, conducted
by A. Polikanoc and Y. Kozyrey. In the same year he also won the
Die Besten 2014 at the Swiss Photo Awards with the project
The Moon Was Broken. In 2012 Salvatore founded YET magazine,
a Swiss photography publication that aims to offer a broad view
of the contemporary photography realm.

Attilio Wismer è nato a Zurigo nel 1958, è un artista e designer. Dopo gli studi allo CSIA, si forma come scultore di pietre
presso lo studio di Pierino Selmoni a Mendrisio. Tra il 1985 e il 1990
è a New York, impegnato come assistente scultore, designer di
mobili, e nella realizzazione di prototipi. Nel 1989 si occupa delle
scenografie per Opera Antica, West Palm Beach (Florida) e nel 1990
ritorna in Svizzera dove realizza design di mobili e complementi di
arredo, architettura d’interni per bar, ristoranti, case private e uno
studio medico.
Tra i suoi lavori va menzionato l’intervento Agorà Mundi
realizzato a partire dal 2012 nel selciato di Piazza Grande a Locarno.
Attualmente lavora come designer di mobili e si occupa di architettura d’interni, scultura e scenografia.

Attilo Wismer was born in Zurich in 1958, he is an artist and
designer. After studying at CSIA, he trained as a stone sculptor at
the studio of Pierino Selmoni in Mendrisio. From 1985 to 1990 Attilo
was in New York and employed as an assistant sculptor, furniture
designer and producer of prototypes. In 1989 he designed the set
for Opera Antica in West Palm Beach (Florida) and in 1990 returned
to Switzerland where he has designed and produced furnishings,
furniture and interiors for bars, restaurants, private houses and a
medical studio.
One of his most significant works is the installation Agorà
Mundi realized in 2012 in the paving of Piazza Grande in Locarno.
Currently Attilo works as a furniture, interior and set designer,
as well as a sculptor.

Artificio is a 10 day event which showcases the work of a selection of designers from
Ticino, in the shop front windows of Lugano.
The trail begins at Spazio 1929 in Via Ciseri 3
and meanders through the city’s center,
culminating at LAC, the new cultural center
of the city.
Artificio is an event dedicated to the various disciplines of design and has both cultural
and social aims. The intention is to encourage
interactions between art, design, the institution and the public, and to value the work of
designers from Ticino. Events such as Artificio
are an important testimony to the breadth of our
national and international talent which too often
remains unknown to a broader audience.

Artificio è un evento di 10 giorni durante
i quali una selezione di designer ticinesi o che risiedono in Ticino, ha la possibilità di mostrare alcuni prodotti nelle vetrine dei negozi della Città
di Lugano. Il percorso si snoda tra lo Spazio 1929
di Via Ciseri 3, fino a raggiungere il LAC,
il nuovo polo culturale della Città di Lugano.
Artificio è un evento dedicato alle differenti discipline del design, la sua finalità ha
carattere culturale e sociale. Intende stimolare
l’interazione tra arte, design, istituzioni e pubblico, valorizzando il lavoro di quei designer che da
sempre operano sul territorio, ma anche quello
di coloro che si sono trasferiti altrove. Queste
esperienze nei differenti ambiti del design sono
una testimonianza importante del panorama
creativo nazionale e internazionale, una realtà
spesso sconosciuta ai più.
