Laurea Specialistica in
INGEGNERIA INFORMATICA
Il corso di Laurea Specialistica in Ingegneria Informatica prevede due orientamenti in lingua italiana, e
uno in inglese. Gli orientamenti in italiano sono: "Sistemi e applicazioni dell'informatica", tenuto presso la
sede di Milano e “Ingegneria informatica per la comunicazione”, tenuto presso la sede di Como.
L’orientamento in inglese, “Master of Science in Engineering of Computing Systems”, si terrà presso
la sede di Milano; saranno accettati al massimo 100 studenti.
La laurea Specialistica in Ingegneria Informatica del Politecnico di Milano offre a
brillanti laureati (laurea di primo livello) in discipline scientifiche la formazione
avanzata nel settore della Ingegneria Informatica, non trascurando una preparazione
di base negli altri settori fondamentali della tecnologia dell’informazione: automatica,
elettronica e telecomunicazioni. La laurea in Ingegneria Informatica, oltre alla
formazione specialistica, propone percorsi interdisciplinari nelle aree dell’ecologia e la
modellistica ambientale, della ricerca operativa, dell’automatica, ecc.

In aggiunta a quanto offerto, sono previsti dei percorsi di studi speciali per un numero
di studenti limitato:
- Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science della University
of Illinois at Chicago presso il Politecnico di Milano
- Percorso di studi trasversale orientato alla ricerca
Sarà possibile selezionare l’orientamento in lingua inglese in fase di domanda di
iscrizione alla LS, dall’apposita applicazione Web; la Commissione valuterà le
richieste di ammissione all’orientamento in inglese basandosi sul punteggio del
TOEFL e sulla carriera dello studente. Nel caso si voglia scegliere l’orientamento in
inglese, si consiglia di selezionare entrambi gli orientamenti, in modo da essere
valutati per l’orientamento in italiano nel caso non si fosse ammessi a quello inglese.
Considerata la natura e le finalità dei corsi di Laurea Specialistica, l'assenza di
debiti formativi non implica garanzia di accesso; l’accesso avverrà attraverso
una selezione basata sulla valutazione della carriera pregressa e sulla
valutazione dell’adeguatezza della preparazione personale (DM 28/11/00)
mediante un esame di ammissione.

Master of Science in
ENGINEERING OF
COMPUTING SYSTEMS
The Laurea Specialistica in Ingegneria Informatica at Politecnico di Milano offers two tracks in Italian "Sistemi e applicazioni dell'informatica", held in Milan, and “Ingegneria informatica per la comunicazione”,
held in Como – and one track in English: “Master of Science in Engineering of Computing Systems”,
held in Milan.
The Master of Science in ENGINEERING OF COMPUTING SYSTEMS at Politecnico
di Milano aims at forming engineers endowed with a rich cultural basis and able to
develop and exploit the methods and tools of computer science with an engineering
attitude, to tackle a wide spectrum of applications. This engineer is in the first place a
designer of applications and systems; the Degree programme develops the ability to
design and implement hardware and software systems, which find application in the
area of industry and services, private or public.
Career Opportunities: The main professional areas for our graduates are innovation
and development of production, advanced design, and management of complex
systems, either as independent professionals or as members of manufacturing or
service enterprises, or in the public administration. Graduates will find their jobs
in the areas of hardware or software production, automation and robotics,
information systems and computer networks, services and public administration.
The education offered enables graduates to manage complex projects thanks to a
deep knowledge of engineering methodologies and technologies, and to the
acquisition of skills in planning, managing, and evaluating the economical
aspects of projects.

The Master Programme also provides, for a limited number of students, the opportunity
to attend two special tracks:
- Joint Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at University
of Illinois at Chicago and at Politecnico di Milano
- Special Research Oriented track
Admission to the Second Level Degrees (Master Courses) of the Faculty of
Information Engineering is conditioned to an examination, according to the following
rules: i) acceptance of candidates is decided by a Commission; ii) the Commission
deliberates based on the curriculum of each candidate (comprising the Diploma
Supplement or an equivalent document) and possibly on an oral/written examination.
The general rule is relaxed, in specific cases, for those students of Politecnico di Milano
who satisfy the requirements established by articles 2–8 of the Faculty Regulations
“Accesso ai Corsi di laurea specialistica.A. 2004-2005” (in Italian), published at the

Admission to the Degree does not imply the approval of all the credits that students
have acquired in their previous career and thus the achievement of the Second Level
(Master) Degree may require the acquisition of more than 120 credits. The number of
necessary credits, and more generally the obligations to be satisfied by the candidates
to accomplish the Second Level Degree, are determined on an individual basis by the
Commission based on the number and type of credits acquired in the student’s previous
career.
