Rehabilitation of Traditional Mediterranean Architecture
TIME:

OBJECTIVE
To stimulate awareness and to safeguard the traditional architectural
heritage of the Mediterranean basin in order to improve the living
conditions and to increase the management capacity of local
authorities.
RESULTS
-Development of methodologies and management tools
-Establishment of a network (15 associated countries)
-Seven thematic files in 3.000 copies, website, quarterly reports
-Four working languages (French, English, Arabic, Spanish)
-1 Symposium, 1 Regional Conference, 4 workshops
-Pilot operations as examples to reproduce

Safeguarding Mediterranean Living Heritage

OBJECTIVE
to reinforce the institutional capacities of partner countries, and
facilitate their effective participation in the international mechanisms
established by the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the
Intangible Cultural Heritage.

-The State-of-the-art in Mediterranean Partner countries
-Development of national projects and creation of a network
-Multi-lingual website including a database structure
-Implementation of four national projects for safeguarding strategies

-5 conferences & workshops (Alicante, Mertola, Genova, Rome, Malta)
-Setting up of a heritage trail in the Malta harbour area
-Interactive trivial pursuit game built by the Greek Partner
-Workbook to help children read and understand maritime artifacts

Identity is Future: The Mediterranean Intangible Space

Valorisation of the intangible cultural heritage as a resource for
sustainable local development. Establishment of international
guidelines of a common catalogue system as an application of the
UNESCO 2003 ICH Convention. Interoperability for regional
databases of Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH)
RESULTS
-Multimedia Laboratories. Navigation-oriented web service collecting
items from different regional databases in a intercultural context.
-Herimed Transporter database system
-Web 2.0, social networking approaches

-Catalogue of the heritage in georeferenced databanks of sites
-Study of several monumental complexes or areas
-Creation of infrastructural networks and websites
