In Italian, hours are feminine. All
hours are plural except when
you state that it is in the 1:00
hour.
Sono le undici – It is 11:00
Sono le cinque – It is 5:00
È l’una – It is 1:00

There are a few ways of stating the time.
1:15  È l’una e quindici
È l’una e un quarto
1:30  È l’una e mezzo
1:45  È l’una e quarantacinque
Sono le due meno un quarto
(2:00 minus a quarter)

In Italy, a 24-hour clock is used.
Once the hour passes 12:00 noon,
add 12 to the hour.
2:00PM = 14:00
5:00PM = 17:00
This is more common in WRITTEN
form than SPOKEN
You will see it on store and train
schedules, TV programs, news
reports, etc.

(di) pomeriggio – (in the) afternoon
(di) sera – (in the) evening
stasera – tonight
