Ticass // The Consortium Ticass // Members TICASS - italian acronym for Innovative Technologies for Environmental Control and Sustainable Development - is a non-profit Consortium established in March 2010, composed by Departments of the University of Genoa, Research Centers and Large, Medium and Small Enterprises. University of Genoa - Departments Chemistry and Industrial Chemistry (DCCI), Physics (DIFI), Land Study and Resources (DISTAV), Civil, Chemical and Environmental Engineering (DICCA), Mechanical, Energetics, Industrial and Transport Engineering (DIME) TICASS performs, promotes and support research activities, as well as excellence technologies transfer in the “Energy and Environment” area, with reference to Sustainable Development and Quality of Life. The Consortium role is also the coordination of the above mentioned activities at regional, national and international level. Its main goal is to widen knowledge and introduce innovative technologies by means of Cross-border Cooperation, together with universities and other public and private bodies. TICASS promotes high profile training courses such as PhD courses, first and second level Master’s degrees, through the award of scholarships, research grants and collaboration contracts. Since May 2011, according to ‘Delibera Regionale n.553 del 20/05/2011’, Ticass is officially endorsed as the managing body of the “Energy-Environment” Regional Innovation Hub. Ticass is also part of the national technology clusters “CL.A.N“ (Agrifood Area) and ”GreenChem“ (Green Chemistry Area). Recovery and development of molecules with high added value for cosmetic and pharmaceutical applications as byproducts. GREEN CHEMISTRY Enhancement and recovery of molecules with high added value for pharmaceutical or nutraceutical use from raw natural materials (oils, cereals), from biomass, and from agricultural products intended for chemical industry (algae and microalgae). GREEN BUILDING nanomaterials and innovative technologies for upgrading energy efficiency in existing buildings (paints, cements, insulating materials). Sensors and Intelligent Management of heat flows. Applications of Geothermal Energy in buildings energy balance. Technologies for energy saving (energy consumption for air conditioning and humidity control in buildings). SUSTAINABLE RENOVATION FOR PORTS AND URBAN WATERFRONTS Low environmental impact and energy saving technologies for industrial sea economy, with particular reference to sustainable dredging of seabed, redevelopment of urban waterfronts and touristic boating. AND MORE... Revision of production cycles, new production processes development (Bio-Remediation, Chemical-Remediation), pollutant control and removal, enhancement and full recycling of cool, agriculture and industrial water. Development of renewable energy sources from byproducts and non-conventional technologies. Reduction, capture, purification and reuse of CO2. TIC MONITORING AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONTROL Air quality evaluation based on Wireless Sensors Networks for monitoring and integration of data related to chemicals produced by public networks, in order to validate their reliability and effectiveness. Monitoring of parameters related to chemicals to assess air pollution and its evolution in relation to emitted pollutants (methane, sulfur, catalytic converters, etc). Evaluation and speciation of nanoparticles in the atmosphere. SS Ticass // Objectives Research and Development activities and innovative solutions provided by the Regional Innovation Hub foster territorial and socioeconomic context potentials by responding to the needs arisen from comparison with local Stakeholders. From the analisys of Strengths, Weaknesses, natural and anthropic Threats and Territory opportunities it was possible to define operational areas for the “Energy Environmental” Hub and its main objectives such as: synergies among subjects involved in Research, Innovation, Training, Development and use of environmentally friendly technologies; advanced research in main areas of interest and exploitation of know-how and tools of the members; creation of critical mass in terms of human, technological and financial resources in order to achieve internationally recognized levels of excellence; support exchange of researchers belonging to TICASS, to facilitate the link between academics and enterprises; development of Industrial Research and Experimental Development projects, scouting for funding. learn more www.ticass.it give us a call +39 (0)10 89 00 601 follows us on Twitter @Ticass2012 write us [email protected] A Attività // orizzontali Tecnologie Innovative per il Controllo Ambientale e lo Sviluppo Sostenibile Consorzio senza fini di lucro Managing Body Regional Reseach and Innovation Hub Ticass“Energy/Environment” // Che cos’è Thematic // Domains Environmental Monitoring Waste & Remediation Energy Water Carbon Dioxide Download our thematic domains activities sheets with up-todate information about Members involved, key technologies and services available for Companies and Public Bodies at www.ticass.it With the financial support of the ERDF - POR 2007 - 2013 Regione Liguria
