Gianni Amico è stato tra i pochi registi a dedicarsi alla musica afro

Roachservecomeossaturaperlacostruzionediunfilmsullalottadeineriperidiritticivili,fattosoprattuttodiimmaginifisseinbiancoeneroediinsertidiscrittura.Nel
1965 lo splendido "Appunti per un film sul jazz" mostra una serie di jazzisti (Gato
Barbieri,EnricoRava,DonCherry,eccetera)alfestivaldiBologna,conunastraordinariacapacitàdicogliereattraversomontaggioeinquadraturelospiritodilibertàche
promanadaljazzeassociandoneillinguaggioaquellodelcinema.
Gianni Amico is one of the few directors to devote themselves to Afro American
Music as seen through the eyes of a film camera. His first film ëNoi insistiamoí
ëSuiteperlalibert‡subitoíñ(weinsistëSuiteforimmediatelibertyí)wasmadein
1964andMaxRoachíssuiteisusedasaframeworkforafilmaboutthestrugglefor
