Panizza produce i migliori cappelli al mondo dal 1879, anno in cui nasce, grazie alla cura e al
genio di Giovanni Panizza, capostipite di una lunga stirpe di esperti cappellai italiani. Quando Giovanni Panizza si ritira a vita privata, lascia l’azienda all’amico e socio Natale Gamba,
i cui figli, nipoti e pro-nipoti hanno continuato a gestire con successo l’attività fino ad oggi.
Nel corso degli anni si è voluta mantenere la grande abilità manifatturiera e artiginale, conquistata e appresa con duro lavoro, tutt’oggi vanto e simbolo del marchio e dell’azienda. Oggi
la lavorazione avviene a Montevarchi presso il cappellificio Falcus, mentre la sede storica a
Ghiffa, sulle rive del lago Maggiore, ospita il museo dell’arte del cappello.
Panizza has been making the best hats in the world since 1879, the year when it was founded, thanks to the skill and genius of Giovanni Panizza, the head of a long stock of expert
Italian hatmakers. When Giovanni Panizza retired to private life, he left the company to his
friend and partner Natale Gamba, whose children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren
have successfully continued managing the business to the present. Over the years, the aim
has been to maintain the great manufacturing skill and craftsmanship, conquered and learned
with hard work, which is still today the pride and symbol of the brand and the company. Today production takes place in Montevarchi at the Falcus hat factory, whilst the original site in
Ghiffa, on the shores of Lake Maggiore, is home to the museum of the art of the hat.

Per raccontare una storia fatta di intuito e passione, Antonio Gamba ha creato il museo Panizza dell’Arte del Cappello. Un piccolo gioiello custodito nell’antica fabbrica, che narra di
cappelli e di personaggi che li hanno indossati. Una giornata al museo per viaggiare attraverso gli anni, accompagnati da un testimone d’eleganza: il cappello. Nato con l’obiettivo di
preservare e custodire la storia completa dell’industria italiana del cappello e, in particolare,
dell’originale stabilimento Panizza, il museo, ad ingresso libero, rimane sempre aperto durante la bella stagione, mentre d’inverno su prenotazione. Spesso teatro di esposizioni tematiche
temporanee, internazionali e non, è punto di riferimento per chiunque voglia approfondire
in un viaggio tra collezioni, macchinari e documenti, la storia e l’evoluzione di questo intramontabile accessorio di stile.
To tell a story of intuition and passion, Antonio Gamba has created the Panizza Museum of
the Art of the Hat.
A small gem in the old factory, which tells of hats and the figures that wore them.
A day at the museum to travel through time, in the company of an elegant witness: the hat.
Founded with the aim of preserving and keeping the complete history of the Italian hat industry and, in particular, of the original Panizza factory, the museum, with entry free of charge,
is open throughout the summer and on reservation in the winter.
Often the venue for temporary thematic exhibitions, both international and national, it is
a landmark for anyone who wants further information on the history and evolution of this
timeless accessory of style, in a journey through collections, machines and documents.
