The high tech fittings prpduced by Ruud
Lighting were selected for the external
illumination plant for the new IKEA by
San Giuliano Milanese. Energy-saving and
environmental sustainability are the
primary objectives of IKEA’s philosophy.
The new outlet was recently inaugurated
in San Giuliano Milanese and was fitted
with the very latest lighting technology: by
the end of 2010, a geothermal exchange
plant, tri-generation plant and photovoltaic
systems will provide 70% of the energy
requirements (80% in the Summer).
However, eco-sustainability is also a
question of reducing and limiting
consumption. Following a long series of
tests, IKEA opted for Led fittings for the
external illumination. The articles produced
by Ruud Lighting can be described as
100% eco-sustainable. They do not
contain any mercury or other heavy metals
and have a life expectancy in excess of
100,000 (more than 20 years) with no
need for maintenance, The lower level of
heat which develops when they are
operating results in a reduced amount of
dust settling on the optic of the fitting
compared to the situation with traditional
light sources. The Ruud Lighting sources
result in energy saving of approximately
65% for the plant in San Giuliano
Milanese (a reduction of 100,000 kwh per
year), thanks to the reduced absorption of
the fittings used and their intelligent use.
The electronic management of the LED
fittings allows the adjustment of the
luminous flow to adapt the light intensity
to real necessities. The articles produced
by Ruud Lighting also reduce the light
pollution through the use of nano-optics
(optical refractors applied directly to every
luminous LED source); these have been
designed to provide 100% control of the
light beam which is oriented only where
necessary with no upward dispersion. For
its commitment in this field, Ruud Lighting
has been approved by the IDA –
International Dark-Sky Association.

Apparecchi ad alto contenuto tecnologico
di Ruud Lighting sono stati utilizzati per
l’impianto di illuminazione esterno del
nuovo negozio IKEA di San Giuliano
Milanese. Risparmio energetico e
sostenibilità ambientale sono un obiettivo
primario su cui IKEA investe fortemente.
In quest’ottica il nuovo punto vendita
inaugurato a San Giuliano Milanese è
stato costruito con le migliori tecnologie:
impianti di geoscambio, di trigenerazione
e fotovoltaici produrra n n o, entro la fine
dell’anno, il 70% (80% in estate) del
fabbisogno energetico. Ma l’ecosostenibilità è anche risparmio e riduzione
di consumi. Dopo una lunga e approfondita
serie di test, IKEA ha scelto per la prima
volta apparecchi a LED per l’illuminazione
delle aree esterne. I prodotti di Ruud
Lighting utilizzati si possono definire ecosostenibili al 100%. Non contengono
mercurio o altri metalli pesanti e hanno
una vita attesa superiore alle 100.000 ore
(più di 20 anni), senza alcun intervento di
manutenzione. Il minor calore sviluppato
in esercizio permette un minor accumulo
di polveri sulle lenti dell’apparecchio,
rispetto a quanto avviene con le sorgenti
tradizionali. I prodotti Ruud Lighting
garantiscono per l’impianto di San Giuliano
un risparmio del 65% (riduzione di 100.000
chilowattora annui) grazie non solo al minor
assorbimento degli apparecchi utilizzati, ma
anche a una gestione “intelligente” degli
stessi. La gestione elettronica degli
apparecchi a LED permette infatti la

regolazione del flusso luminoso per
adattare il livello di illuminamento alle reali
necessità, I prodotti Ruud Lighting inoltre
riducono l’inquinamento luminoso
attraverso l’utilizzo di nano-ottiche (rifrattori
ottici applicati direttamente su ogni
sorgente luminosa a LED) studiate e
modellate per poter controllare al 100%
il flusso luminoso che viene indirizzato solo
dove necessario senza alcuna dispersione
verso l’alto. Per questo impegno, Ruud
Lighting ha ottenuto l’approvazione da
parte di IDA – International Dark-Sky
