WEAPONS WERE USED FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE HISTORY AGAINST IRAQI ARMY AND CIVILIANS DURING THE PERIOD FROM 17/Jan./1991- 28/FEB./1991. • 500-800 TONS WERE DELIVERED AND AT LEAST 300TONS DELIVERED AT THE WEST OF BASRAH. • THE ESTIMATED POPULATION AT RISK OF GETTING D.U. DISEASES ABOUT 45% OF THOSE WHO WERE RESIDENT IN THE AREA AT THAT TIME. • NO AREA IN IRAQ IS EXCLUDED FROM THE EFFECTS OF D.U. D.U. AND HUMAN HEALTH IN THE SOUTH OF IRAQ. • INCREASE IN THE INCIDENCE OF CANCERS FEW YEARS AFTER THE 1991 AGGRESSION. • INCREASE IN FOETAL MALFORMATIONS AND ABORTIONS. • APPEARANCE OF MYOPATHIES, NEUROPATHIES AND RENAL FAILUER OF UNKNOWN CAUSES. PATTERN OF CANCERS AFTER 1991 • YOUNG AGED ARE AFFECTED BY CANCERS OF ELDERLY PEOPLE. • TYPES OF TUMOURS ARE RELATED TO INCUBATION PERIODS WHICH MADE RADIATION A POSSIBLE CAUSE. • FAMILIAL CANCER CLUSTERING IS SEEN AFTER 1991 AGGRESSION. • THE TUMOURS ARE UNIFORMLY DISTRIBUTED IN BASRAH. INCIDENCE OF CANCERS IN BASRAH. • THE INCIDENCE OF CANCER IN 1988 ACCORDING TO LOCAL REGISTRY WAS 11/100000 OF POPULATION. • IN 1998 THE INCIDENCE INCREASED TO 75/100000, WHILE IN 2001 THE INCIDENCE RAISED TO 116/100000.
