Fieracavalli è una fiera straordinaria, un vero e proprio punto
di riferimento per il mondo dei cavalli. Si tratta di un gioiello del
sistema fieristico della nostra regione. E lo conferma la presenza
a Fieracavalli, per il 14° anno di fila, del Jumping Verona, quarta
tappa del girone Europa. Un appuntamento immancabile per i big
del salto ostacoli, che in più di un’occasione hanno sottolineato la
bellezza del concorso veronese. E il pubblico di Verona sa offrire
una cornice unica e straordinaria fatta di passione ed emozione.
Ogni anno questa manifestazione si pone come punto di
riferimento internazionale ed è in grado di offrire ai visitatori
un’offerta straordinaria di show, gare e curiosità che coinvolgono
grandi e piccoli. Gli oltre 158mila che circa ogni anno frequentano i
padiglioni di questo evento possono trovare tutto ciò che riguarda
il mondo del cavallo declinato in ogni sua sfumature dalle gare
fino all’equiturismo.
Questa manifestazione è anche il luogo prediletto per mettere
sotto la luce dei riflettori i temi più importanti che riguardano un
settore che solo in Veneto conta 15 mila cavalli allevati in 3.500
allevamenti. Un autentico patrimonio da tutelare e valorizzare e
che richiede un’attenzione costante. Dietro il mondo dei cavalli
ci sono storia, identità e tradizioni dei nostri territori.
Il mio grazie va al Presidente di Verona Fiere, agli organizzatori
e a tutti quei volontari che danno il loro contributo alla relazione
di una manifestazione che è tra le più belle al mondo.
Fieracavalli is a truly extraordinary show and a full-scale
landmark for the world of horses. It is a jewel in our region’s
exhibition system. And this is confirmed by the presence at
Fieracavalli, for the 14th consecutive year, of Jumping Verona’s
- the fourth stage in the Europe League. A not-to-be-missed
appointment for the top names in show jumping, who on more
than one occasion have emphasised the beauty of this event in
Verona. And audiences in Verona know precisely how to ensure
a unique and extraordinary setting made of passion and emotion.
Every year, this event stands out as an international landmark,
offering visitors extraordinary shows, competitions and unusual
aspects that enthral young and old alike. More than 158,000
every year crowd the halls of the event, finding everything related
to the world of horses interpreted in all its nuances - from
competitions through to equestrian tourism.
This event is also a preferential venue for spotlighting some
of the most important issues affecting a sector that in the Veneto
alone boasts 15,000 horses reared in 3,500 breeding centres.
An authentic heritage that we must protect and valorise through
constant attention. The world of horses is a background to the
history, identity and traditions of our local areas.

nel panorama degli eventi fieristici veronesi, ospita l’appuntamento
con i grandi del salto ad ostacoli Jumping Verona, una tappa del
campionato del mondo Longines FEI World Cup.
For the fourteenth consecutive year, Fieracavalli - a point of
excellence among the trade fairs held in Verona - is home to the
appointment with the top names in show jumping with Jumping
Verona, a stage in the Longines FEI World Cup.
La manifestazione fieristica, che ogni anno mette in risalto
il mondo equestre portando a Verona numerosissimi visitatori e
riunendo tutte le discipline ed attività legate al cavallo, propone
infatti anche quest’anno il più atteso evento del panorama nazionale
indoor del salto ad ostacoli.
The exhibition, which every year highlights the equestrian
world - thereby attracting many visitors to Verona and bringing
together all disciplines and activities related to horses - once
again this year host the most eagerly awaited event in the Italian
indoor show jumping scene.
Nel corso di questa edizione agli appassionati potranno
assistere a tre giorni di gare spettacolari, durante i quali saranno
ospiti della nostra città i protagonisti internazionali di questa
disciplina.

three days of spectacular competitions involving the top
international names in this discipline as guests of our city.
Una dimostrazione concreta della capacità della città e
della sua Fiera di proporsi come sede ideale per eventi di livello

of Verona and its Exhibition Centre to stand as an ideal venue

Questa è la 37° edizione della FEI World Cup™ Jumping,
l’evento più grande e più globale in questa disciplina, con 115 gare
di qualificazioni distribuite su sedici leghe che conducono a una
stellare finale annuale.
This is the 37th season of the FEI World Cup™ Jumping, the
largest and most global series in this discipline, with 115 qualifiers
spread across sixteen leagues leading to a star-studded annual
final.
Alcuni dei migliori cavalli e cavalieri del mondo cercheranno di
fare bella figura nei prossimi giorni per guadagnare l’accesso alla
finale di Las Vegas, il palcoscenico scelto per la finale attesissima
della Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping e della Reem Acra FEI
World Cup™ Dressage, che si terrà in aprile 2015 presso la favolosa

Some of the world’s best horses and riders will be aiming to
impress over the coming days in order to secure their ticket to
Las Vegas, host to the highly anticipated Longines FEI World
Cup™ Jumping and Reem Acra FEI World Cup™ Dressage Finals
in April 2015 at the fabulous Tomas & Mack arena.
Dall’inizio nel 1978, molti dei più grandi binomi hanno sollevato
orgogliosamente il trofeo FEI World Cup™, compreso l’austriaco
Hugo Simon - il primo vincitore del titolo che è tornato poi 17 anni
più tardi per regalarci due vittorie consecutive nel 1996 e nel 1997;
il binomio brillante e imbattibile di Rodrigo Pessoa e Baloubet du
Rouet ha vinto per tre anni consecutivi dal 1998 al 2000; per non
parlare di altre icone notevoli e indimenticabili del nostro sport come

Since the series began in 1978, many of the greatest
partnerships have held the FEI World Cup™ trophy proudly aloft
including Austria’s Hugo Simon, the first ever winner of the title
who then returned 17 years later to produce another double of
wins in 1996 and 1997; the brilliant and unbeatable combination
of Rodrigo Pessoa and Baloubet du Rouet for three consecutive
years from 1998 to 2000; and other remarkable and unforgettable
icons of our sport such as Ian Millar (CAN) and Big Ben, John
Whitaker (GBR) and Milton, and Meredith Michaels Beerbaum
(GER) and Shutterfly to name but a few.

le amazzoni presenti per l’edizione 2014 di “Jumping Verona”,
unica tappa italiana di FEI World CupTM. Quattordici anni di grandi
successi caratterizzano un evento unico nel suo genere e inserito
nella più grande Fieracavalli, giunta oggi al suo 116° compleanno .
It is with renewed pleasure that, for the second consecutive
year, I have the opportunity to offer my warmest welcome to all
riders taking part in the 2014 edition of “Jumping Verona”, the
only Italian stage of FEI World Cup™. Fourteen years of huge
successes characterise this unique event against the broader
setting of Fieracavalli itself, today celebrating its 116th edition.
La Federazione Italiana Sport Equestri tiene in grande
considerazione questo appuntamento che ormai dopo tanti anni è
diventato davvero imprescindibile per tutto il movimento equestre
italiano ed internazionale.
The Italian Federation of Equestrian Sports holds this
appointment in the highest regard. After so many years it has by
now become a vital occasion for the Italian and international
equestrian movement as a whole.
Un momento d’incontro e di confronto unico nel suo genere,
che offre la possibilità a tutti gli appassionati di godere di momenti
irripetibili, non solo aggregazione, ma anche e soprattutto di sport
e spettacolo ai massimi livelli. Non si esaurisce, dunque, la grande
offerta degli sport equestri in Italia, in una stagione che ha già
regalato tante emozioni dal punto di vista agonistico agli amanti
di questa splendida disciplina.
A truly unique occasion for meetings and comparisons that
offers all enthusiasts the chance to enjoy unforgettable moments
not merely on a social level but also and above all in terms of
sport and entertainment at the highest levels. The marvellous
offering of equestrian sports in Italy continues, following a season
that has already rewarded us with so many emotions from a
competitive point of view for this wonderful sport.
L’appuntamento scaligero ha motivo di esistere grazie anche
alla grande sinergia tra gli Enti preposti ad organizzarlo. Per questo
voglio rivolgere un ringraziamento a tutti loro e in particolare
all’Ente autonomo per le Fiere di Verona, che ormai da quattordici
anni è impegnato in prima linea a dare vita a una manifestazione,
che vede sfilare ogni anno i migliori campioni del momento. Un
pensiero voglio rivolgerlo anche ai cavalli, instancabili compagni
di avventura, veri e propri atleti- protagonisti al pari dei cavalieri e
le amazzoni impegnate nelle competizioni di questi giorni.
The event in Verona is also inspired by the impressive synergy
between the various organising bodies. I would like to take this
opportunity to thank all of them and in particular VeronaFiere
which, for the past fourteen years, has been active in the forefront
to give life to an event that every year boasts the involvement of
leading champions. I also have a special thought for horses, our
tireless companions of adventure, the true athletes on a par with
the riders involved in the competitions scheduled during Fiercavalli.
Certo che anche l’edizione 2014 sarà ricordata per i successi
organizzativi e sportivi, non resta dunque che augurare un grande
in bocca al lupo a tutti i partecipanti, affinché possano raggiungere

Alla 116ª edizione di Fieracavalli si rinnova l’appuntamento più
atteso dagli appassionati del salto ostacoli. Per la quattordicesima
volta, infatti, Veronafiere viene incoronata capitale internazionale
per una delle discipline più amate e spettacolari legate al mondo
del mondo del cavallo.
I padiglioni della Fiera diventano ancora terreno di gara per
Jumping Verona, l’unica tappa italiana della Longines FEI World
CupTM. Lo sport, protagonista indiscusso della passata edizione
della manifestazione veronese, anche quest’anno si conferma la
punta di diamante, richiamando in riva all’Adige il gotha mondiale
del salto ostacoli, con i migliori cavalli ed i più esperti cavalieri.
The 116th Fieracavalli brings back an eagerly awaited event
for show jumping enthusiasts. For the fourteenth time, Veronafiere
will be crowned as the international capital of one of the most
popular and spectacular disciplines related to the world of horses.
The halls in the exhibition centre will once again become
earthen rings for Jumping Verona, the only Italian stage of the
Longines FEI World CupTM. Sport - the undisputed star of the
last edition of the event in Verona - is the spearhead again this
year, attracting to the banks of the River Adige the top names in
show jumping, with the best horses and most experienced riders.
Per tre giorni, i binomi in gara tengono con il fiato sospeso i
4mila fortunati spettatori in una gara sul filo dei secondi e all’ultima
penalità: un esempio perfetto di quell’affinità naturale che lega
l’uomo e l’animale e che costituisce il filo rosso di Fieracavalli 2014.
For three days, horses and riders will keep 4000 fortunate
spectators with bated breath during an event decided by split
seconds and the last fault: a perfect example of that natural
affinity that bonds people and animals that is also the central
theme of Fieracavalli 2014.
Ma lo sport, a Fieracavalli, non è rappresentato solo dai grandi
nomi della Coppa del Mondo. Ci sono anche i cavalieri di domani
con le competizioni del Progetto Giovani, del 27° Campionato
Nazionale Pony e della 39ª edizione della Coppa delle Regioni
Under 21 che, quest’anno, si svolge proprio sul terreno di gara
della Longines FEI World CupTM.
Yet sport, at Fieracavalli, is not only represented by the top
names competing for the World Cup. There are also the riders
of tomorrow with the Youth Project competitions, the 27th National
Pony Championship and the 39th Regions Cup Under-21 that,
this year, takes place in the same ring as the Longines FEI World
CupTM.
Non resta quindi che prepararsi a vivere insieme ai propri
campioni un’esperienza unica, fatta di emozioni che si susseguono

Jumping Verona e Longines FEI World Cup™: l’abbinamento di una qualsiasi
sede di gara al circuito indoor che da trentasei anni catalizza l’attenzione dei
migliori cavalieri del mondo è già di per sé garanzia di spettacolo di alto livello.
Siamo nell’Olimpo dell’agonismo.

competition venue and the indoor circuit that for 36 years has catalysed the
attention of the world’s best riders itself already ensures high-level performances.

Se è vero però che la cartina di tornasole della qualità di un
concorso ippico è data gli iscritti ecco un’ulteriore conferma: nel
caso del concorso scaligero, con una vera e propria fidelizzazione di
grandi del salto ostacoli mondiale, l’organizzazione esce promossa
a pieni voti e la tappa italiana del circuito si guadagna di diritto
l’inserimento nel novero degli eventi di eccellenza del panorama
mondiale. L’edizione 2014 della tappa italiana della Longines FEI
World Cup™, la numero quattordici per Fieracavalli, si presenta
con le credenziali di sempre: evento attesissimo, fiore all’occhiello
della programmazione indoor sul territorio italiano. Le giornate
di gara sono tre con otto categorie che, con un crescendo di
attenzione, portano all’atteso appuntamento di chiusura: la gara
di Coppa del Mondo. Il montepremi complessivo è di 410mila euro
e di questi ben 175mila (di cui un quarto al vincitore) sono in palio
solo nel Gran Premio presented by Fixdesign. Il padiglione 8, da
quest’anno Pala BMW, per l’occasione di trasforma in un piccolo
quartiere a misura di campioni. Nel back stage dell’arena di gara,
capace di ospitare sino a 4500 persone, tutto è progettato perché
l’accoglienza di cavalli e cavalieri, di tecnici ed addetti ai lavori,
abbia la qualifica di cinque stelle: campi di esercizio, infrastrutture
e servizi all’avanguardia, aree perché i van siano a portata di mano
e per i van mezzi televisivi, uffici, ristoranti, e una lounge per il relax
dei cavalieri servita persino da un’area massaggio. Il welfare dei
cavalli è uno dei punti fermi di Fieracavalli, a maggior ragione in un
ambito dove si parla esclusivamente di campioni.

excellence in the world scene. The 2014 edition of the Italian stage
of the Longines FEI World Cup™ - number fourteen for Fieracavalli
- is presented with all its traditional credentials: the long-awaited
event is the pride of indoor programme in Italy. There are three
days of competitions covering eight categories, with a crescendo of
attention leading up to the eagerly-awaited closing event: the World
Cup event. The total prize fund comes to €410,000, of which an

the Grand Prix presented by Fixdesign alone. Hall 8 - renamed as of
the year as Pala BMW - will be transformed for the occasion into a
kind of district fit for champions. The back stage of the competition
arena can host up to 4500 people and everything is designed to
ensure a proper welcome for horses and riders, technicians and
professionals with five-star status: warm-up fields, state-of-the-art
infrastructures and services, areas where horse vans and TV systems
are close at hand, offices, restaurants and a lounge where riders
can relax that even has a massage area. The welfare of horses is
one of the landmarks of Fieracavalli, especially in a context which
speaks exclusively of champions.

Da ottobre 2014 a marzo 2015 sono dodici le tappe in calendario
nel calendario del girone Europa Occidentale della Longines FEI
World CupTM. Un vero e proprio girone ‘di ferro’, il più importante e
selettivo dei sedici che fanno parte del circuito di coppa del mondo.
Si parte con due tappe nel nord Europa, in Norvegia, a Oslo (16-19
ottobre) e Finlandia, a Helsinki (23-26 ottobre). Il ‘circus’ del salto
ostacoli si sposterà poi in Francia, a Lione, sede tra l’altro della
scorsa finale 2013/2014 (29 ottobre-2 novembre) e quindi in Italia
con l’atteso Jumping Verona (6-9 novembre). Dopo altre due tappe
a novembre, Stoccarda in Germania (19-23) e Madrid in Spagna
(28-30), saranno Londra-Olympia in Inghilterra (16-22 dicembre) e
Mechelen in Belgio (26-30 dicembre) a chiudere l’anno solare della
Longines FEI World CupTM 2014/2015. Si riprenderà alla metà
di gennaio a Lipsia, in Germania (15-18 gennaio), poi toccherà
alla Svizzera con Zurigo (23-25 gennaio) ancora alla Francia con
Bordeaux (6-8 febbraio) per chiudere le tappe di qualifica di nuovo
nella penisola scandinava Göteborg, in Svezia, dal 26 febbraio al
1 marzo. I migliori cavalieri dell’Europa Occidentale dovranno però
varcare l’oceano per misurarsi con i loro competitor qualificati negli
altri gironi. L’appuntamento con la Longines FEI World CupTM
Final 2014/2015 è infatti fissato negli Stati Uniti d’America, a Las
Vegas (15-19 aprile).
The twelve legs of the 2014-2015 Western European League
of the Longines FEI World CupTM will be held between October
2014 and March 2015. This a seriously tough league, the most
important and the most selective of the sixteen in the World Cup
circuit. The series starts with two shows in northern Europe, in Oslo,
Norway, (October 16th – 19th) and in Helsinki, Finland (October
23rd – 26th). The show jumping ‘circus’ then moves to Lyon in
France, where the 2013-2014 final was hosted, (October 29th –
November 2nd) and then to Italy in Verona (November 6th – 9th).
After two more legs in November, in Stuttgart, Germany (19th –
23rd and Madrid in Spain (28th – 30th), the World Cup will move
to London-Olympia, UK (December 16th – 22nd) and Mechelen
in Belgium (December 26th – 30th) to end 2014.
The Longines FEI World CupTM 2014/2015 starts the new
year mid-January in Leipzig, Germany (January 15th – 18th), to
then continue in Zurich, Switzerland (January 23rd – 25th) and
then France again with Bordeaux (February 6th – 8th), to end the
qualifying phase back in Scandinavia in Göteborg, in Sweden, from
February 26th to March 1st. The best riders in Western Europe will
then cross the ocean to compete against those qualified in other
leagues. The Longines FEI World CupTM Final 2014/2015 will be
hosted in the United States in Las Vegas from April 15th to April 19th.

Per la quattordicesima volta Fieracavalli, la rassegna fieristica
internazionale di Verona dedicata al mondo del cavallo arrivata con
il 2014 all’edizione numero 116, sarà palcoscenico della tappa
italiana della FEI World Cup™ di salto ostacoli che dalla scorsa
stagione associa il suo nome a quello di Longines, la prestigiosa
maison di orologeria svizzera. L’appuntamento scaligero è un
‘must’ per tutti gli appassionati, come dimostrano le tribune
sempre sold out e l’entusiasmo del pubblico alle stelle. Del resto,
nelle tredici edizioni passate, sono state scritte pagine di storia di
questo straordinario sport. A partire dall’edizione pilota, nel 2001,
aperta con una gara che ha sancito un vero e proprio en plein
per il Belgio. Ai primi tre posti si sono infatti piazzati Stanny Van
Paesschen (O De Pomme), Jos Lansink (Cordijana Z), e Gilbert
De Rook (Neron De La Tourelle). L’anno successivo l’albo d’oro
registra la vittoria di Rodrigo Pessoa e Lianos. Un Gran Premio
di qualità eccelsa se si considera che, a meno di un decimo di
secondo dal fuoriclasse brasiliano, si piazzano i due vincitori della
FEI World Cup 2000/01 e 2002/03, rispettivamente lo svizzero
Markus Fuchs con Tinka’s Boy, e il tedesco Marcus Ehning, terzo
con For Pleasure. Nel 2003 e nel 2004 è la Germania a fare la
parte del leone con un cavaliere di provata esperienza (2003,
Lars Nieberg/Loreana) e un giovane in ascesa (Toni Hassmann/
Lolita) che l’anno precedente a Verona aveva vinto il piccolo Gran
Premio. Con il 2005 Verona inizia a parlare olandese. Cinque doppi
netti e il tempo a decidere in favore di Albert Zoer e Okidoki. E’
un momento magico per l’italiano Juan Carlos Garcia che in sella
al mitico Albin III si piazza al posto d’onore. Nel 2006 è ancora
trionfo per l’Olanda che rafforza il risultato grazie alla doppietta
primo/secondo posto di Gerco Schroeder (Eurocommerce Milano)
e Leopold Van Asten (Vdl Groep Fleche Rouge). Nel 2007 Albert
Zoer e Okidoki entrano nella leggenda. Un magnifico bis a due anni
di distanza in una gara combattutissima che assegna la piazza
d’onore a Marco Kutscher, il tedesco campione d’Europa 2005, in
sella a Cornet Obolensky. In un Gran Premio dove solamente tre
binomi hanno avuto l’accesso in barrage, il 2008 vede la Germania
alla ribalta scaligera con Alois Pollmann (Lord Luis), con l’unico
doppio netto della gara. Secondo lo svizzero Steve Guerdat (Jalisca
Solier) e terzo per l’Italia Omar Bonomelli (Quintero 4). Ancora un
‘mostro sacro’ del panorama internazionale in vetta alla classifica
Fieracavalli, the international exhibition in Verona that is
preparing to celebrate its 116th edition, has been the ideal setting
for the Italian stage of the FEI World Cup™, that since last year
has linked its name with that of the famous Swiss watchmaker
Longines, over the past 13 years. The event that enjoys a
favourable schedule in the circuit’s calendar and is held in high
regard by riders for its overall organisation - is certainly highlighted
in the agendas of all enthusiasts. The grandstands are always
sold out and audiences are always hugely enthusiastic.
The previous thirteen editions have already written a long
history of extraordinary sport. The pilot edition held in 2001 saw
Belgium take all the medals. The top three places went to Stanny
Van Paesschen (O De Pomme), Jos Lansink (Cordijana Z) and
Gilbert De Rook (Neron De La Tourelle). The Roll of Honour for
the following year highlights the victory of Rodrigo Pessoa and
Lianos. This was a Grand Prix of exceptional quality if one considers
that two winners of the FEI World Cup were less than onetenth
of a second behind the Brazilian champion: winner 2000/01, the
Swiss rider Markus Fuchs on Tinka’s Boy; and 2002/03 winner,
German ace Marcus Ehning, on For Pleasure, came second and
third respectively. In2003 and 2004 , Germany took the lion’s
share with an experienced horseman (Lars Nieberg/Loreana in
2003) and a rising young star (Toni Hassmann/Lolita) who had
already won the small Grand Prix in Verona the previous year.
In 2005 Verona began to speak Dutch. Five double clears
and a quick time decided in favour of Albert Zoer on Oki Doki. It
was a magic moment for the Italian rider Juan Carlos Garcia on
his legendary horse Albin III, taking second place. 2006 saw
another triumph for Holland coming first and second with Gerco
Schröder (Eurocommerce Milan) and Leopold Van Asten (VDL
Groep Fleche Rouge). In 2007, Albert Zoer and Oki Doki became
legendary. A magnificent second win two years after their first
victory, in a hotly contested event which saw second place go
to Marco Kutscher, the German European Champion of 2005,
riding Cornet Obolensky. In a Grand Prix where only three horses
made it through to the jump-off, 2008 saw Germany taking the
limelight in Verona with Alois Pollmann on Lord Luis, thanks to
the only double clear in the event. Swiss rider Steve Guerdat
came second (Jalisca Solier), while Italy took third place with

Goran-Bengtsson su Casall La Silla. La gara del 2011 ha avuto
purtroppo un tristissimo epilogo perché sospesa dopo la morte,
avvenuta in campo di Hickstead, qualitativo compagno di gara
del campione olimpico Eric Lamaze. L’efficienza e la tempestività
dell’apparato veterinario è stata purtroppo vana. Il sipario sulla
undicesima edizione dell’evento è dunque calato con molta
tristezza. Tribune sold out già la settimana prima dell’evento per
l’edizione 2012 che ha riunito per la prima volta sotto lo stesso
padiglione il campo gara, il campo prova e le scuderie: una vera e
propria cittadella per la FEI World Cup. A due mesi dalla chiusura
dei Giochi Olimpici un parterre di cavalieri eccezionale con il
montepremi più ricco di tutto il circuito diviso su due gran premi:
il primo intitolato alla memoria di Hickstead, dove la Germania
ha fatto la parte del leone con un tris di campioni ai vertici della
classifica (nell’ordine Christian Ahlmann con Taloubet Z, Ludger
Beerbaum con Chaman e Marco Kutscher con Cornet Cristallo,)
e il secondo, quello di Coppa, dominato dallo spagnolo Sergio
Alvarez Moya con Zipper. Piazza d’onore azzurra in questa gara
con l’ottimo Luca Moneta su Neptune Brecourt. Il binomio azzurro
ha infiammato le tribune di Jumping Verona anche nell’edizione
2013 chiudendo al terzo posto il Gran Premio di Coppa del Mondo
alle spalle del britannico Scott Brash con Ursula XII e del vincitore,
il tedesco Christian Ahlmann con Aragon Z.

international scene came out on top in 2009: British rider Michael
Whitaker, on Insul Tech Amai, turned in a superb performance
over the two rounds. German rider Gilbert Bockmann came
second on No Father’s Girl and the reigning European Champion
Kevin Staut on Silvana came in third.
The 2010 edition, which marked the tenth anniversary of the
FEI World Cup™ stage in Verona, saw the triumph of Sydney
2000 Olympic Champion, Dutchman Jeroen Dubbeldam on BMC
Van Grunsven Simon ahead of 3-times winner of the World Cup
and reigning World Champion (team) Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum
on her legendary bay Shutterfly and Swedish rider Rolf-Göran
Bengtsson on Casall La Silla. The 2011 edition unfortunately
was witness to a truly sad epilogue and was suspended following
the death on the field of Hickstead, the supreme companion of
Olympic champion Eric Lamaze. The efficiency and promptness
of veterinary services were unfortunately in vain. An immensely
sad curtain was drawn across the eleventh edition of the event.
Riders and organizers unanimously decided, in a gesture of great
sportsmanship and solidarity with Eric Lamaze, to suspend the
meet. Tribune already sold out a week before the event of the
2012 edition, which brought together for the first time in the same
exhibition hall the competition arena, the training arena and the
stables. Two months from the closing of Olympic Games, the
best international riders came in Verona for the richest prize of
all the indoor circuit, split over two Grand Prix: the first dedicated
to the memory of Hickstead, where Germany occupied the top
of the list (in the order Christian Ahlmann with Taloubet Z, Ludger
Beerbaum with Chaman e Marco Kutscher with Cornet Cristallo)
and the second, the most important, the Grand Prix of FEI World
Cup. The winner was the Spanish Sergio Alvarez Moya with
Zipper followed by the Italian rider Luca Maria Moneta, who took
second place riding Neptune Brecourt. In 2013 there was another
great performance by the Italian pair Luca Maria Moneta and
Neptune Brecourt (third place). The winner of the Grand Prix was
the German rider Christian Ahlmann with Aragon Z followed by
Scott Brash with Ursula XII.

The record books show that Germany has sent out the
greatest number of winners, 10 in total following last season’s
superb victory for Daniel Deusser riding Cornet d’Amour. However
Americans dominated during the early years, winning seven of
the first nine titles, and, after a long absence, they made a comeback with victories from Rich Fellers in 2012 and Beezie Madden
in 2013. When the Final returns to their doorstep in April 2015
they will be hoping to redress the imbalance and catch up with

volte. Ma se Millar mantiene la forma che ha all’età di 68 anni, potrà

And there is one man who everyone will be watching if he
makes it to the Las Vegas Final. Canada’s Ian Millar is a 10-time
Olympian who is still cutting it with the very best of them. You
have to go all the way back to 1988 to recall his very first FEI
World Cup™ Jumping victory in Gothenburg, Sweden with the
great Big Ben who returned to do it again the following year.
Brazil’s Rodrigo Pessoa is the only rider to have recorded three

years of the series, but there was a 25-year gap before Rich

Beezie Madden then made it a back-to-back win for the US at

World Cup™ Jumping title on three occasions, Germany’s Meredith

AZZURRE
Il 2014 è stata un’annata in crescendo per il salto ostacoli
italiano. Centrato l’obbiettivo della stagione con la promozione
in Divisione 1 della ‘Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Series’ grazie al
successo nella Coppa delle Nazioni dello CSIO di San MarinoArezzo, e dopo la prova all’altezza dei migliori nella finale del
circuito di Barcellona, gli azzurri sono intenzionati a ben figurare
anche nella ‘Longines FEI World CupTM 2014/2015’. L’idea,
come ha detto il Commissario Tecnico Hans Horn, è quella di
permettere al maggior numero possibile di cavalieri italiani di
partecipare ai concorsi indoor della Coppa de Mondo privilegiando
poi, nella seconda parte della stagione, coloro che avranno
‘chance’ per ambire alla qualificazione per la finale di Los Angeles
dell’aprile 2015. Anche in questa edizione di Jumping Verona la
rappresentativa azzurra si presenta, quindi, al meglio delle sue
possibilità. Punta di diamante è Luca Maria Moneta, miglior azzurro
ai World Equestrian Games della Normandia. Il cavaliere lombardo
è infatti il grande atteso dopo il secondo e il terzo posto centrati
negli ultimi due Gran Premi (2012 e 2013) di Coppa del Mondo di
Verona in sella al fidato Neptune Brecourt. Altro cavaliere su cui
sono riposte le aspettative italiane è Piergiorgio Bucci che con
Casallo Z forma un binomio estremamente competitivo: quest’anno
primi nel Gran Premio del CSI3* di Arnhem e doppio netto nella
Coppa delle Nazioni dello CSIO di San Marino-Arezzo. Un mix
perfetto il loro, tra la tecnica e lo stile del cavaliere azzurro e l’estro
e la classe del suo saltatore. Sulla scia di una stagione che l’ha
consacrato tra i grandi del jumping internazionale i riflettori sono
puntati anche su Lorenzo De Luca. Dopo i WEG, la vittoria in
Coppa delle Nazioni nello CSIO di San Marino-Arezzo e la finale
del circuito di Barcellona, il 26enne pugliese si appresta quindi ad
accogliere l’incitamento del pubblico di Fieracavalli in sella a Elky
van het Indihof. Altri punti fermi della rappresentativa italiana sono
Emanuele Gaudiano con Cocoshynsky vincitori della prestigiosa
Copa del Rey in occasione della tappa di Madrid del Longines
Global Champions, e Juan Carlos Garcia che potrà contare su
Moka de Mescam con la quale nel corso della stagione ha vinto
due Gran Premi di CSI2*, a San Giovanni in Marignano e Arezzo.
In gara ci sono anche Roberto Arioldi (classe 1955) il ‘capitano’
degli azzurri, ammesso di diritto in quanto miglior cavaliere della

graduatoria del Circuito d’Eccellenza determinata sulla base
dei risultati dei cinque Gran Premi Italia disputati quest’anno, e
Massimiliano Ferrario vincitore con Rigoletto della Florida della
categoria 8 anni e oltre ai Campionati Italiani dei Cavalli Giovani
di inizio ottobre. Per far parte della rappresentativa tricolore sono
stati inoltre convocati Simone Coata e Cannavaro, binomio questo
che nel 2014 ha centrato quattro secondi posti in Gran Premo in
altrettanti CSI a due e tre stelle all’estero e Francesco Franco con
Banca Popolare di Bari Cassandra che lo scorso maggio ha fatto
parte della squadra ufficiale azzurra allo CSIO di Roma Piazza di
Siena e a quello di Linz. Al via anche Giulia Martinengo Marquet
amazzone di punta dell’equitazione azzurra che quest’anno ha
centrato una doppietta fantastica vincendo, nella stessa giornata,
due Gran Premi nei CSI3* e CSI2* del Toscana Tour in sella a Galan
S e Fixdesign Funke van’t Heike, e Mirco Casadei. Campione
italiano nel 2006, Casadei monterà Cruzeiro e My Forever. In
accordo con il Tecnico delle squadre giovanili Gianluca Bormioli,
sono stati infine convocati anche gli Young Riders Filippo Marco
Bologni, quest’anno confermato Campione Italiano Under 21 con
Fixdesign Chopin a San Giovanni in Marignano e Matilde Bianchi
con Una Bella HS medaglia di bronzo nello stesso campionato.
Giovani di belle speranze anche altri due azzurri ai nastri di
partenza, tra l’altro per la prima volta, in un CSI di Coppa del
Mondo. Si tratta di Andrea Campagnaro diciannovenne veneto,
quest’anno medaglia d’argento ai Campionati Italiani Young
Riders con Antartica Ter Doorn e Roberto Previtali, ventiduenne
bergamasco che corona così una stagione fantastica che lo ha
anche visto vincere ben due categorie con Ambra in occasione
dello CSIO di Roma Piazza di Siena.

Meredith Michaels Beerbaum è nata e cresciuta a Los Angeles, Stati Uniti. Dopo una brillante
carriera Young Riders, nel 1991 si è stabilita in Germania da Paul Schockemöhle e non ha più
lasciato l’Europa. Nel 1998 si è sposata con il cavaliere Markus Beerbaum. Con il suo fuoriclasse
Shutterfly Meredith Michaels ha ottenuto traguardi ineguagliabili, come le tre vittorie della FEI World
Cup Finals (2005/2008/2009).
Meredith Michaels Beerbaum was born and grew up in Los Angeles, United States. After a brilliant
Young Riders career, in 1991 she settled in Germany with Paul Schockemöhle and not left Europe
ever since. In 1998, she married fellow rider Markus Beerbaum. On her champion Shutterfly,
Meredith Michaels has seen incomparable achievements, such as three victories in the FEI World
Cup Finals (2005/2008/2009).

Son of international rider and technical Philippe Guerdat, Swiss rider Steve was already in the
saddle aged three and today, at 32, is the reigning Olympic Champion having grabbed the title in
London in 2012 riding Nino des Buissonnets - the same horse he rode to second place in the FEI
World Cup Final in 2012. The Swiss champion also won a team bronze at the Beijing Olympics
in 2008 riding Jalisca Solier.
Thirty-three years old from Normandy, Kevin Staut is amongst the most highly appreciated riders in
the world. He was 2009 European Champion with Kraque Boom, World Champion runner-up in 2010
with Silvana HDC and team silver at the European Championships 2011 with Silvana HDC; he competed
in the 2012 London Olympics with Silvana HDC and took the team silver at the World Championships
in Caen 2014 with Reveur de Huterbrise. He is 5th in the Longines FEI Ranking List.
Daniel Deusser (GER)

A rider in German first team, Daniel Deusser at thirty-three already boasts outstanding honours.
The reigning German champion last year won the FEI World Cup Final in Lyon on Cornet d’Amour;
the pair also took the silver medal at the European Championships in Herning. He had lived since
2012 in Mechelen, Belgium, and is a rider with the Stephex Stable. He stands 7th in the Longines
Ranking List.
With his impeccable style, Patrice Delaveau is one of the world’s number ones. In 1986, just
twenty-one years old, he won the team bronze medal in the WEG in Aachen riding Laeken. He
took the team silver medal in the WEG 2010 Lexington with Katchina Mail. Individual and team
silver medals at the WEG in Caen 2014 riding Orient Express. In 2013, Patrice Delaveau won the
Derby and the Grand Prix de La Baule in the same edition. He is 6th in the Longines Ranking List.

Winner of four Olympic gold medals, five European titles and two world titles, German rider Ludger
Beerbaum at fifty-one years old is one of the most renowned and highly regarded riders on the
international equestrian scene. A trainer and horse man of great experience, his stable in Riesenbeck,
Germany, is recognized as one of the best in the world. He stands 2nd in the Longines Ranking List.
Born in Australia, where she first began riding, Edwina Alexander is among the best lady riders in
the world. In 1995, after winning the Young Riders National Championships, she moved to Europe.
With her ‘historic’ champion horses Pialotta, Itot du Chateau and Socrates she has achieved and
maintained truly global peaks. She is married to Jan Top, the creator of the Global Champions
Tour, and currently lives in Munich, Germany.

at the top. The rider from Milan can also rely on other excellent mounts.
Born in Lecce, he is based in Belgium and works in the Neil Jones Equestrian stable. At just 27
years old, he is already one of the riders in the Italian first team. In 2014, he competed in the WEG
in Caen on Evita van de Veldbalie, was a member of the Italian team that won the Nations Cup
CSIO Arezzo SMR and took part in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Final in Barcelona riding Elky

binomio straordinario e sta vivendo stagioni agonistiche ai vertici. Il cavaliere milanese può contare
anche su altri soggetti di grande rilievo.
Nel 2014 ha vinto con il team azzurro la Coppa delle Nazioni di Arezzo SMR con Moka des Meskam
e ha partecipato alla Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Final in Barcellona con Bonzai van de Warande.

Born in Matera, he has lived in Frankfurt, Germany, since 2005. A member of the State Forestry
Corps, he rode his trusted Cocoshynsky in 2013 at CSIO Aachen, the only Italian rider, and at the
European Championships in Herning. In 2014, he won the coveted Copa del Rey at CSI5* in
Madrid and took part in the WEG in Caen. He has represents the Italian team in the most prestigious
Nations Cup events for many years.
Nineteen years old, from the Veneto Region and following in his father’s footsteps. His father is
international rider Luciano Campagnaro. In 2014, Andrea won the silver medal at the Italian Young
Riders Championships with Antartica Ter Doorn. He took part in the European Junior Championships
in 2013 and the Young Riders in 2014 on Rivage du Borda. This season saw him take part in
important CSI events, including Lummen and Bagnaia, and the CSIO Arezzo SMR.

Born in L’Aquila, he has settled for some years in Belgium. Winner of the men’s team silver at the
European Championships in Windsor 2009 with Kanebo. Riding Casallo Z, his current top horse,
Bucci competed in the European Championships in Herning in 2013. In 2014, with Casallo Z and
the Italian team he won the Nations Cup Arezzo SMR, competed in the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup
Final in Barcelona and won the Grand Prix in Arhhem CSI3*.
A young promise in Italian equitation, the rider from Bergamo at only twenty-two years old is
already building a brilliant career with victories and placings in national and international competitions.
Italian Young Riders Champion in 2011 with Varon O’Hesseln; he has competed in two European
Young Riders Championships. In the 2104 Edition of CSIO Rome he won two 1.45 categories
riding Ambra.

Kelsey Calabro’s legendary Hunter “Renoir”, Kristina Muse’s “Tango”,
my own “Miss Daisy,” and Green River Farms’ stunning “Quincento.”
Shot on location between Wellington, Fl, and East Hampton, NY - these
horses have proven to be remarkably worthy and inspiring subjects.
Each time I have the privilege to photograph these amazing animals, I
am in awe. Their raw athleticism, natural beauty, and general tolerance
for us two legged humans has me convinced that they are most certainly
the higher species.
Though we construct each elaborate set and lighting technique to highlight
what I think will best reflect each horse’s attributes, I am constantly
reminded that these horses are rarely who we expect them to be. They are
who they are, and if you are lucky, they will let you in.
Winston Churchill once said, “ There is something about the outside of a
horse, that is good for the inside of a man,” I think he was on to something…

diventa la piazza principale dove conoscere le migliori proposte
ippo-turistiche italiane e straniere. Quest’anno la rassegna si
spinge fino in Oman, che partecipa alla manifestazione con la
Cavalleria Reale per promuovere lo sviluppo di sport equestri e
competizioni nel Sultanato.

on the animals that have always accompanied mankind: horses.
Hall 4 - renamed for the occasion La Valigia in Sella (Saddlebags)
and developed in collaboration with E.A.R.T.H. Academy becomes the main venue highlighting the best Italian and
international equestrian tourism proposals. This year, the exhibition
even travels as far as Oman, which is taking part in the event
with the Oman Royal Cavalry to promote the development of
equestrian sports and competitions in the Sultanate.

esemplari di cavalli iberici nel padiglione 9. Sempre qui potrete
ammirare anche gli affascinanti Frisoni, razza olandese tra le più
antiche d’Europa, e i Mangalarga Marchador, originari del Brasile,
che si esibiscono in sfilate e caroselli.
Equestrian events and competitions will also animate all the
other halls in pavilions of the exhibition centre. The Arabian Horse
Exhibition is the stage for the 4th Gran Premio Fieracavalli, reserved
for thoroughbred Arabians born and raised in Italy, and the
International Morphology Championships. Performances taking
in Dressage, Alta Escuela, Doma Classica and Doma Vaquera,
as well as morphology competitions, will involve the best champion
Iberian horses in Hall 9. Here you can also admire the fascinating
Frisians, a Dutch breed among the oldest in Europe, and the
Mangalarga Marchador, originating from Brazil, performing in
parades and carousels.

specialità della monta americana, che torna a Fieracavalli dopo
tre anni. Grande novità dell’edizione 2014 è la Grand Champion –
Coppa delle Regioni, in scena al padiglione 11. Le due categorie –
squadre regionali italiane e cavalieri singoli, nazionali e internazionali
- si sfidano nelle discipline di Barrel Racing e Pole Banding.
Per ammirare i migliori esemplari di razze italiane fate tappa al
Salone Italialleva, realizzato in collaborazione con l’Associazione
Italiana Allevatori, dove gli esemplari delle 30 razze iscritte al
registro anagrafico italiano daranno prova delle proprie qualità
morfologiche e attitudinali.
A Fieracavalli il divertimento è garantito per tutta la famiglia.
Si parte dal Villaggio del Bambino, con un ricco programma di
appuntamenti che spazia dal battesimo della sella ai laboratori
didattici fino alle dimostrazioni di ippoterapia e volteggio curate
da Anna Cavallaro, per arrivare agli entusiasmanti spettacoli del
talent show Talenti&Cavalli.
Appuntamento irrinunciabile per tutti gli appassionati di arte
equestre è Visions, il Gala d’Oro di Fieracavalli diretto da Antonio
Giarola. Un viaggio poetico nei luoghi mitici del folklore italiano
e nordafricano grazie a virtuosismi tecnici, saggi di volteggio e
dressage di artisti italiani e internazionali come Christophe Hasta
Luego, Jean-Marc Imbert, Santi Serra Camps e Clemence Faivre,
che torna a Verona dopo il successo ottenuto nel 2010.
A chiudere una giornata interamente dedicata al cavallo non
mancano le notti di Fieracavalli, dalle 20.00 alle 23.00, con la
musica country del Saloon e le esibizioni di line dance per tutti i
veri cowboys e cowgirls.
The Westernshow (Halls 11 and 12) will welcome about 700
examples of Appaloosa, Paint and Quarter Horses competing in
Speed Events - Western Gymkhana, Barrel Racing and Pole
Bending - as wells as Stock Performance - Team Penning and
Cutting, one of the major specialities of the American mount
which returns to Fieracavalli after three years. The main innovation

The best examples of Italian breeds can be admired on stage
in the Italialleva Exhibition, organised in collaboration with the

and aptitude qualities.
Enjoyment is assured at Fieracavalli for all the family. It starts
off from the Children’s Village with an impressive programme of
events ranging from the saddle baptism to educational workshops
through to demonstrations of Horse Therapy and saddleback
acrobatics curated by Anna Caruana, not to mention the exciting
performances in the “Talenti&Cavalli” talent show.
A not-to-be-missed appointment for all admirers of equestrian
art is Visions, the Fieracavalli Gold Gala directed by Antonio
Giarola. A poetic journey into the mythical places of Italian and
North African folklore thanks to technical virtuosity, saddleback
acrobatics and dressage performances by Italian and international
artists such as Christophe Hasta Luego, Jean-Marc Imbert, Santi
Serra Camps and Clemence Faivre, who returns to Verona after
his huge success in 2010.
And days entirely dedicated to horses can come to a fine
conclusion thanks to Fieracavalli Nights, from 20.00 to 23.00,
with country music in the Saloon and line dance performances
for all true cowboys and cowgirls.

Alla fine di una giornata tutta dedicata al cavallo, quando si
spengono le luci dei padiglioni e si accendono i riflettori sul ring
d’onore di Fieracavalli, prende vita Visions, il Gala d’Oro diretto
da Antonio Giarola nelle serate del 6, 7 e 8 novembre. Caroselli,
coreografie corali, dressage e lavori in dolcezza uniti a musica
e danza vi trasporteranno in un mondo magico in cui cavalli e
cavalieri diventano tutt’uno – unendo azione e bellezza – per creare
un’atmosfera unica ed emozionante.

L’ARENA
L’anfiteatro Arena è il monumento più famoso di
Verona, da sempre meta d’obbligo per visitatori
che qui giungono da tutto il mondo. Avvicinarsi in
silenzio e immaginarla gremita di folla come ai tempi
degli antichi romani non è difficile, basta chiudere
gli occhi o entrare nell’atmosfera inebriante che le
serate d’opera e di spettacolo sanno creare. Certo
i cruenti combattimenti dei gladiatori cominciavano
all’alba, e al posto delle tesserine d’entrata in osso
e avorio, oggi si usano i biglietti con sistemi di
prenotazione on line, ma l’emozione alla vista del
più maestoso e più vivo gioiello di Verona, dopo
2000 anni è ancora la stessa.
Verona’s most famous monument, visited by tourists
world-wide. If you contemplate it in silence, it’s not
difficult to imagine it crammed with spectators as
in Roman times: all you need do is shut your eyes
or go to see one of the splendid opera performances
held here and the Arena will come magically to life.
Situated in Piazza Bra’, the Amphitheatre was built
in the first half of the 1st century A.D., in the period
which marked the end of Augustus’ reign and the
beginning of that of Claudius.
Juliet ‘s house, “There is no world without Verona
walls”: the pen of William Shakespeare has lent
Verona fame and immortality with his tale of two
star-crossed lovers, Romeo Montecchi (Montagu)
and Juliet Capuleti (Capulet). The story of their tragic
love is set in two precise locations – Juliet’s house
and the tomb. The Capulet House, best known as
“Juliet’s House”, dates back to the thirteenth century.
It is tower-shaped and belonged to the Dal Cappello
family, whose coat-of-arms is visible above the inner
arch-way of the court-yard. The brick façade is
decorated by elegant gothic windows standing on
either side of the famous balcony on which Juliet
is said to have spoken to Romeo. The house has
several storeys and tickets can be bought to visit
it. The interior contains the furniture of a typical
fourteenth century aristocratic household, enhanced
by a wide range of medieval ceramics.
