DAYS OF STUDY OF THE ITALIAN MINOR
PLAINS (Pescara, January 9-10, 1987)
II 9 e 10 Gennaio 1987 si sono dati convegno a Pescara,
ospiti della accogliente sede della Camera di Commercio, Industria, Artigianato e Agricoltura e con il patrocinio della Universita degli Studi «G . D'Annunzio» di Chieti, i ricercatori afferenti al Progetto di interesse nazionale del Ministero della Pubblica Istruzione «Genesi ed evoluzione geomorfologica delle pianure dell'Italia peninsulare ed insulare ». I saluti delle Autorita
locali e quelli del Magnifico Rettore dell'Universita prof. Uberto
CRESCENTI, che ha poi personalmente assistito anche a parte dei
lavori, hanno testimoniato il vivo interesse che i problemi relativi alle pianure destano nelle sedi pili qualificate al governo
del territorio.
Formulato da appena un anno , il Progetto si propone di approfondire le conoscenze delle pianure costiere e fluviali d'Italia, ad esclusione della Pianura Padana, sulla scia e in collegamento con i programmi del Working Group on Geomorphology
of River and Coastal Plains dell'Unione Geografica Internazionale.
II buon andamento dellavoro degli aderenti al Progetto, che
si articola su tre temi: 1) Genesi delle pianure; 2) Evoluzione
geomorfologica; 3) rischio da inondazione e impatto antropico,
ed e imperniato su 11 Gruppi Locali delle Universita di Ancona, Bari, Cagliari, Camerino, Firenze, Genova, Napoli, Pisa,
Roma e Sassari, ha consigliato l' organizzazione di un Seminario di studio, con presentazione delle ricerche eseguite fino al
massimo stadio di avanzamento.
II Seminario ha avuto un lusinghiero successo poiche tutti
i Gruppi Locali hanno reso noti i primi risultati delle proprie
ricerche, mediante comunicazioni scientifiche corredate da efficaci rappresentazioni grafiche, cartografiche e fotografiche.
L' animato dibattito che si e acceso al termine delle varie comunicazioni fra i numerosi partecipanti all'incontro ha dimostrato l'interesse per i temi del Progetto.
A conclusione della second a giornata si e svolta una tavola
rotonda sui risultati e Ie prospettive di sviluppo del Progetto
con la partecipazione del prof. E . LUPIA PALMIERI, rappresentante del Comitato 04 del Consiglio Universitario Nazionale del
Ministero della Pubblica Istruzione, con i cui fondi della ricerca scientifica (Ripartizione 40 %) il Progetto si alimenta.
La pubblicazione dei risultati del Seminario in una sede cosl qualificata, come la Rivista che li ospita, euna logica conseguenza diquanto sopra e mostra la volonta di confrontarsi con
il mondo scientifico e con il mondo esterno, dato che l' oggetto
delle ricerche sono territori per 10 pili densamente popolati ed
economicamente sviluppati.
On January 9 th and 10th , 1987, the researchers contributing
to the Project of national interest of the Ministry of Education
"Genesis and geomorphologic evolution of the minor plains in
Italy and the Italian islands" met at Pescara, in the comfortable hall of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture,
Artisans and Craftsmen under the patronage of Chieti University. The addresses of the local Authorities and of the Head
of the University Prof. U. CRESCENTI, who attended part of the
work, widnessed the keen interest and awareness that the problems regarding the plains arose in persons put in charge of
managing and safeguarding the land.
The project, which was put forward only one year ago, aims
at probing into the range of information we have about the river
and coastal plains of Italy, with the exception of the Po Valley,
in the wake of, and in conjunction with the programmes of the
"W orking Group on Geomorphology of River and Coastal
Plains" of the International Geographical Union.
The satisfactory progress of the work of the members of the
groups on the Project, which deals with three topics: 1) Genesis
of the plains; 2) Geomorphologic evolution; 3) Hazard due to
flooding and human impact, and is backed by 11 Local Groups
of the Universities of Ancona, Bari, Cagliari, Camerino,
Florence, Genoa, Naples, Pisa, Rome and Sassari, suggested that
a seminar be held, where most advanced researches could be
expounded.
The Seminar was very successful as the Local Groups made
known the first results of the research, through scientific reports
complete with effectual graphic , cartographical and photographical representations. The lively discussion among the
numerous people attending the meeting at the end of the various
reports proved the interst in the topics of the Project.
At the close of the second day, a round table took place on
the results and the perspectives for the development of the Project, with the participation of prof. E. LUPIA PALMIERI, the
representative of the Committee 04 of the University National
Council, on whose funds for scientific research (Allowance 40%)
the Project depends.
The publication of the results of the Seminar in this
distinguished magazine , is the logical consequence of the above
and shows the longing to confront the scientific world and the
outside world, since the object of the research concerns areas
being for the most part densely populated and economically
developed. The contributions are written in Italian, but the basic
contents have made accessible through their English summaries
and by diagrams or photo captions and in some case by maps.
