Low frequency Ultrasound Generators For medical applications GENUSmed LOW FREQUENCY ULTRASOUND GENERATORS FOR MEDICAL APPLICATIONS The power modules GENUSmed are a family of sophisticated ultrasound generators (US) of low frequency [22 kHz - 60 kHz] controlled with microprocessor, which drive with high efficiency any piezoelectric transducer or array of transducers operating within the specified band of frequencies and over a wide range of powers. The main applications range from dental surgery (tartar removal, implantology) to physiotherapy and aesthetic medicine. Every piezoelectric transducer is characterized by a specific and selective frequency response: to convert electrical power into mechanical energy of vibration with the maximum performance possible, it must be controlled in order to ensure the proper power transfer with a frequency close to the resonance one, in any load condition and operating regime. The GENUS modules automate this function guaran- teeing a precise and repeatable operation, controlling the operating parameters, such as for example the amplitude and frequency modulations to optimize the various therapy applications performances. Our generators drive all piezoelectric hand pieces currently used in medical applications of low-frequency U.S. therapy and can be customized for particular applications. A single module GENUSmed can handle different transducers by selecting the specific operating band and wide choices for power level are possible, optimized according to the characteristics of the transducer and of the medical application. The innovative feature of GENUSmed family, which is a technical reference for physiotherapy and aesthetic medicine, is the efficiency of the automatism that optimizes transducer's driving: reliability, operating accuracy and flexibility of use in the full programmability of its functions . GENUSmed has been designed using the company's experience gained through years of development and production of electronic power systems for U.S. applications in medical, industrial and scientific fields. Our sophisticated control algorithm represents the "intelligence " of the device: the user always has the certainty to operate safely and efficiently, automatically and "transparently" even when the operating conditions are critical and transducers are stressed for load, temperature and aging. The protocol developed for the serial communication channel controls the generator and monitors in real-time its proper functioning . TECHNICAL CARACHTERISTICS U.S. Generator START-STOP. Rectangular amplitude modulation applied to output signal (pulse operation mode). Possibility to independently set the modulation times Ton and Toff. Possibility to mount a modular system with two or more synchronized boards, in order to cover a wider range of powers. Linear frequency modulation applied to the output signal (sweep operation mode). Possibility to independently set the frequency maximum deviation with respect to the nominal frequency (resonance) and the scan rate (sweep rate). Superimposable and independently controllable modulations. RESET software system command. Selection of the operating frequency band of the instrument (within the range 22-60 kHz, divided into 7 bands). This command is useful for managing different handpieces with the same generator optimizing the response of the single transducer. Automatic attachment on the resonance frequency of the piezoelectric handpiece when the operating conditions vary. Genus_Spectrum We have developed, for internal use, the measurement system GENUS_Spectrum to study, to characterize and to optimize the response of any piezoelectric transducer (or array of transducers) working within the frequency band from 22 to 60 kHz, optimizing GENUS modules parameters so as to ensure the best driving, through the “tuning” and the coupling with the generator in correspondence of its own resonance frequency. The proper working point is not always easy to determine, because it's influenced by many factors of complex determination. GENUS_Spectrum, besides optimizing the machines performance, allows to verify the integrity and the proper functioning of the transducers. The following images show an overview of the U.S. generator modules GENUSmed available , each of them has been designed for different applications, output power levels and types of transducers supported. Our Commercial and Technical Offices are available for further economic and technical information on our products. U.S. generator module GENUSmed RAL151 : suitable for piezoelectric transducers in power medical applications. This module is suitable for applications where arrays of transducers are used, each of them characterized by high power. The board also implements a thermal protection for the generator circuit with safety shutdown via relay. The control takes place through a serial communication channel opto-isolated from the power circuit. The U.S. output is floating. U.S. generator module GENUSmed RAL080 : Suited for piezoelectric handpieces in easthetic and US therapy applications of low frequen- U.S. generator module GENUSmed RAL146 : suitable for piezoelectric handpieces in aesthetic and U.S. low-frequency therapy medical applications. These generators are ideal for driving the most common transducers and handpieces used in U.S. treatments in aesthetic medicine and physiotherapy. The modules are controlled through a serial communication channel opto-isolated from the power circuit. The transducer output is floating. U.S. generator module GENUSmed RAL112 : suitable for piezoelectric hand piece in low power (dental surgery) medical applications. Two versions of the mod- ule are available: the first is controllable through a serial communication channel, the second one is independently manageable by a START-STOP line and by potentiometers for the setting of the power level and of the amplitude modulation depth (pulse mode). The U.S. output is floating. Piezoelectric transducers commonly used in the medical field for aesthetic and physiotherapy applications. RADIOASTROLAB S.r.L.
