The event, the first of a series of appointments that has the city of Ravenna as its stage, is addressed to researchers that work in various roles in the sector of conservation, custody and valorisation of mosaic, from ancient to contemporary. The conference will be organised into sections, with oral papers and posters, both with papers of invited speakers and papers proposed by other speakers, for the presentation of the results of the various themes related to mosaic conservation. Among these, the following themes were chosen and believed to be a priority and strategic: − Building materials and methods of intervention: between tradition and research innovation − Open-air display and in situ conservation − Valorisation and fruition Roundtables on themes of Conservation and restoration of ancient, modern and contemporary mosaic and on Training of mosaic restorers complete the picture of scientific activities of the Conference The official languages of the meeting are Italian, English and French. DEADLINES 30th April 2009 Preliminary registration and receipt of summaries 30th June 2009 Acceptance of proposals 31st July 2009 Payment of Inscription-Fee (early registration) 20th September 2009 Definitive Programme CONTRIBUTIONS We foresee two different types of oral presentation: papers of invited speakers at the beginning of the themed sections and ‘oral’ papers proposed by scholars. If the number of proposals were higher than the available time for oral papers, a poster section is forecast. The scholars’ proposals will be checked by the Executive Committee on the base of an abstract (about 2000 characters). After the acceptance, the proposed work is further valued for its destination: oral or poster. The completed papers and posters will be published in the Conference Proceedings and will have to be handed in at the Conference (the instructions for their drawing up and delivery will be provided on acceptance of the proposal). The résumés, drawn up in the three official languages according to the clauses found on the Conference Web site (http://www.ravennamusiva.com) will have to have been sent by the 30th April 2009 to the Conference Scientific Secretary exclusively via e-mail as an attached Word file, to the address [email protected], specifying the authors, correspondence author and affiliation. It is also necessary to indicate the eventual preference on the presentation channel (oral or poster).
