Keynote Speakers:
Menachem Elimelech: Menachem Elimelech is the
Roberto Goizueta Professor at the Department of
Chemical and Environmental Engineering at Yale
University. Professor Elimelech received his B.Sc. And
M.Sc. degrees from the Hebrew University in Israel
and Ph.D. from the Johns Hopkins University in 1989
in Environmental Engineering. His research interests
include (i) engineered osmosis for sustainable
production of water and power, (ii) environmental
applications and implications of nanomaterials, (iii)
membrane separations for desalination and water
reuse, and (iv) water and sanitation in developing
countries. Professor Elimelech was elected to the
National Academy of Engineering in 2006 and was
awarded the Athalie Richardson Irvine Clarke Prize in
2005.
Symposium Location:
The Symposium venue has moved to
SMAT wastewater treatment plant, via
Po 2, 10036 Settimo Torinese.
A Conference Bus (company: VIGO) will leave at 8 am
(on October 10th) and 8.30 am (on October 11th) in
front of the train station Porta Nuova, located in
Torino center in piazza Carlo Felice 85 (close to the
Metro station).
The bus will return after the end of the daily sessions
(leaving at 5.30 pm on October 10th and 3.30 pm on
October 11th).

Symposium Committee:
Enrico Drioli: Enrico Drioli is a Full Professor at the
Department of Chemical Engineering and Materials at
the University of Calabria, where he founded the
Institute of Membrane Technology of the Italian
Research Council in 1993. He served there as Director
until December 2008. His scientific activity has
focused mainly on the following fields: membrane
science and engineering, membranes in artificial
organs, integrated membrane processes, membrane
preparation, and transport phenomena in
membranes. He is the recipient of numerous awards
and honors, including: Doctorate Honoris Causa from
University of Paul Sabatier of Toulouse (France) (8
July 2009) and the International Cooperation Honor
Award, September 2005, given by the Membrane
Industry Association of China (MIAC).
