GIOVANARDI AND LETTERA G ORIGINS
Lettera G, fabbrica di design contemporaneo, nasce da Giovanardi spa, azienda
fondata a Milano nel 1919 per la produzione artigianale di timbri, placche e inchiostri,
specializzandosi poi nella fabbricazione di placche in ferro smaltato.
Lettera G generates from Giovanardi spa, Company founded in 1919 in Milan as a handicraft manifacture of stamps, plates and inks and then it specialized in enamelled
iron plates. Negli anni 50 amplia la produzione di targhe e quadranti sviluppando tutte le lavorazioni inerenti: tranceria, galvanica, verniciatura, litografia servendo società storiche
dell’industria italiana come FIAT, Olivetti, Veglia Borletti e Magneti Marelli.
In the fifties it extended its production of plates and dials amplifying all the internal
processing regarding: shearing workshop, galvanic process, painting, silk-screen printing, lithography for the main companies of Italian industry such as Fiat, Olivetti,
Veglia Borletti and Magneti Marelli.
Dagli anni 80 la Giovanardi diversifica le proprie lavorazioni rivolgendosi al settore
del P.O.P., ovvero materiale per la comunicazione sul punto vendita: espositori, shop
in shop, packaging, lavorando per società come Armani, Bmw, Bulgari, Davidoff,
Dior, Luxottica, Marcolin, Miu Miu, Prada, Pirelli, Sharp, Samsung, Sony.
Nel 2000 nasce la Giovanardi Alliance, un accordo con tre società specializzate nelle
lavorazioni della lamiera, del metacrilato e del legno, che prevede sinergie, politiche
comuni ed un’unica mission. Scopo di questo sodalizio è poter offrire soluzioni tecniche più rapidamente possibile alla svariate richieste che il settore richiede.
Della Giovanardi Alliance si è interessata la SDA Bocconi che ha approfondito il “caso”
nelle proprie aule come esempio di sviluppo dell’azienda medio-piccola italiana.
Negli ultimi 10 anni Giovanardi ha aperto un ufficio a Parigi e uno ad Hong Kong
per uno sviluppo commerciale in mercati strategici.
Nel 2007 la proprietà sviluppa accanto al suo core business un nuovo ramo d’azienda
e fonda Lettera G srl, società che avvalendosi del talento creativo esterno di giovani
designer, possa sfruttare l’expertise della fabbrica Giovanardi per la realizzazione
di oggetti e complementi d‘arredo di design.

From the eighties Giovanardi has diversified its own processing addressing to the
P.O.P. market, that is the material for the communication on the point of sale, corner,
shop in shop, packaging, working for companies such as Armani, BMW, BTicino, Bulgari,
Davidoff, Dior, Loxottica, Marcolin, Miu Miu, Prada, Pirelli, Sharp, Samsung, Sony…
In the 2000 Giovanardi Alliance has been set up, an agreement among three Companies which are specialized in the working of the sheet metal, acrylic, wood, which
implies synergies, common policies and a unique mission. The aim of this association
is to offer technical solutions as soon as possible to the several requests the market
asks for. The Sda Bocconi was interested in Giovanardi Alliance and has deepened
the case in their halls, as an example of development of a small-medium Company.
In the latest 10 years Giovanardi opened an office in Paris and one in Hong Kong
to be adequately represented in strategical markets.
Besides this core business, in 2007 the ownership develops a new business branch
and founds Lettera G, Company that aims to exploit the historical Giovanardi heritage
and expertise matching them with the fresh talent of young designers and gives life
to design objects and furnishing.

LETTERA G THE CONTEMPORARY DESIGN FACTORY
Lettera G edita e produce oggetti e complementi d’arredo insoliti ed eleganti
che si caratterizzano per ricchezza espressiva e manifattura di altissima qualità.
Lettera G seleziona i suoi designer in collaborazione con POLI-design, Politecnico
di Milano, e li mette a contatto con la propria fabbrica, la Giovanardi spa.
Il progetto Lettera G scaturisce infatti dal desiderio imprenditoriale di investire
da un lato nell’estro progettuale di giovani designer e, dall’altro, di mettere a frutto
un know how maturato in quasi 100 anni di storia di eccellenza produttiva. I designer
incontrano così la fabbrica, ambiente cruciale nella fase ideativa ed evolutiva del
progetto, e danno vita a collezioni poetiche e raffinate.
La vivacità e il dinamismo della fabbrica consentono inoltre una flessibilità produttiva
in grado di “customizzare” le collezioni per i Contract più personalizzati fino allo
studio e alla realizzazione di progetti d’arredo ad hoc per architetti, hotel, ristoranti,
residenze, retail.
Lettera G develops and manufactures unusual and elegant objects and furnishings
characterised by richness of expression and high craftsmanship.
Lettera G chooses its designers in cooperation with POLI-design, Politecnico of Milan,
and puts them in contact with its own factory, Giovanardi spa (www.giovanardispa.it).
The Lettera G project originates, in fact, from the entrepreneurial desire to invest on
one hand in the creative flair of young designers and, on the other hand, to exploit
the know-how acquired in nearly 100 years of history of manufacturing excellence.
Thus the designers encounter the factory, a crucial setting in the creative and evolutive stage of the project, and give life to poetic and refined collections.
The vivacity and dynamism of the factory also allow manufacturing flexibility able to
“customise” collections for the more personalised Contracts and even to study and
implement ad hoc furniture projects for architects, hotels, restaurants, residences
and retail.

Per Lettera G il design è cuore e ricerca del bello. Lettera G evolve l’aspetto tecnico
e funzionale del design per creare atmosfera, suggestioni, dissonanze leggere.
Ama la cura della creazione italiana e la ricchezza espressiva dei giovani che con
il loro entusiasmo e la loro spontaneità sanno guardare alla natura degli oggetti
da una prospettiva diversa. Per Lettera G il design è bellezza per il nostro sguardo
e per il nostro tatto. E’ la poesia e l’arte di creare oggetti ridisegnando e reinventando
il nostro quotidiano.
NATO IN ITALIA
Gli oggetti, i complementi e i progetti d’arredo Lettera G sono interamente sviluppati nella fabbrica di Concorezzo, tra Milano e la laboriosa Brianza. Ogni singolo
complemento delle collezioni necessita di una fase di rifinitura dedicata, affidata alla
perizia di operai artigiani e tecnici che esprimono l’eccellenza italiana in ogni fase di
lavorazione sia attraverso l’utilizzo delle più sofisticate macchine a controllo numerico quali laser, pantografi, impianti robotizzati, sia nelle particolari lavorazioni manuali
come molature, lucidature, levigature e delle modalità di assiematura.

BORN IN ITALY
Lettera G objects, furnishings and projects are entirely developed in the Concorezzo
factory, between Milan and the laborious Brianza area.
Each individual piece of furnishing of the collections requires a dedicated finishing
stage, entrusted to the skill of artisans and technicians who express Italian excellence
in every stage of production, both through the use of sophisticated CNC machines
such as lasers, pantographs and robotic systems, as well as in particular manual processes such as grinding, polishing, sanding and assembly.

Le collezioni Lettera G incarnano la mission aziendale: ideate con la volontà di dare
principalmente spazio ai nuovi talenti del design italiano, propongono una raffinata
linea di oggetti che ridisegnano con leggerezza e poesia il nostro paesaggio domestico.

dalla semplice marchiatura ad una raffinata re-interpretazione ad hoc dell’oggetto da
