L'evento si tiene nella prima
domenica del mese di Settembre.
Dedicata a chi lavora per la
sicurezza e la libertà.
Con la tradizionale Festa del
Mare, Ancona rende omaggio alle
forze armate e alle istituzioni che
operano sul mare, e ne vigilano e
tutelano la libertà degli approdi.
Essa consiste in una animatissima
processione di centinaia di
imbarcazioni che dal porto si
recano al largo per onorare i
caduti del mare con una cerimonia
religiosa (regata del Conero). A
terra spettacoli, sfilate, concerti e
la fiera "degli Archi", il rione
marinaro della città. A conclusione
i fuochi d'artificio sul mare.
The Feast of Sea
The feast of Sea wich is held on the first Sunsay o September and it
isa procession of hundreds of boats that starting from the port of
Ancona take to the open sea to pay honour with a religious
ceremonyto all the people dead into the sea.
Infact, the bishop get on a fishboat, a different boat every years, and
he is followed by several boats. He throws Our Lady’s crown into the
sea and some comps vho are in an helicopter above hte sea shoot
into the air.
The boat of the firemen sprays xome water on the spot.
On land there are concerts, performances, fashron shows and the
Fair at “ Archi” which is the marine district of tehe city.
At the end there are fireworks which can be seen from”Duomo”, the
highest part of the city or from the boats which are on the port.

Fair of Saint Ciriaco
The fait of Saint Ciriaco takes place from the 1 to the 4 of Mayin the center
of the city of Ancona.Traditionally, this fair has always been a very
important appointment for the inhabitants of Ancona and it’s suburbs. We
can see almost 500 exhibitors of the most characteristical and original local
goods. Small sellers of merchandises with tipical tastes and local art and
crafts delight the city for 4 long days and thereforr pay tribute to the patron
saint of this city in the Marche:Saint Ciriaco.
On Sunday 4 of May there is a lottery in Largo XXIV Maggio at 7 pm
organized in a very by the yellow cross.
This fair since 2008 has been organizerd in a very panoramic place with a
monderful view to the seas that is il Passetto and Viale della Vittoria.

Ciriaco of Jerusalem il a holy martyr and patron od ancona. Is celebrated by the
Catholic Church on May 4 and the Orthodox Church on April 14.
Life
Another tradition,however.speaks of Ciriaco,born in Palestine,he converted and
became bishop pf Ancona,died during his journey to his homeland ,according to
this hypothesis in the 133(or 135)around. His death was possibly caused by a
popular riot. There are,however,documants the bishops of the Marches capital
prior to the fifth century.
But certainly in the fifth century the body was trasferred from Palestine to
Ancona in the church of Santo Stefano,the intervention of Galla Placida to the
town as a reward for not having received the relics of St.Stephen to whom the
chuch was dedicated. In the tenth century the remains are trasferred to the
Cathedral of Ancona,where are today.

Christmas in Ancona
In the last few years, in Ancona, the Christmas markets animate the
whole Christmas holiday period. In Piazza del Plebiscito, known to all as
the Pope's Square, the most beautiful of Ancona, every year the annual
appuntament returns with the traditional Christmas market . The
inviting covered structure houses thirty-four stalls with a myriad of
gift ideas: sweets, plants and compositions for the Christmas table,
clothing, accessories and jewelry. The market runs until December 24
and it is definitely something good for all ages, from the simple to the
most important gift thought.
