Saint Anthony Devotions

June 11th. At that time, we will host our annual

From the Deacon’s Desk . . .
A note from Fr. Wayne . . .
As you can see, the new doors for the
Church are in! I am so very grateful to all
who had donated to our Grand Annual
Collection. Through the Grand Annual
Collection, we were able to have new
doors installed in the Church. As the nice
weather comes, we will be able to do more beautification projects around the Church property.
Also, allow me this opportunity to encourage each of
you to take full advantage of the Spiritual events that
will take place this Holy Week. In addition to the
Triduum Schedule below, we also have Lectio Divina Monday night at 6:15, Mass; Rosary for St. Anthony on Tuesday night at 6:30; Confessions on
Wednesday evening from 6:30-8:00.
Holy Week
Today, we begin the most sacred and solemn liturgical week of the year, Holy Week! During Holy
Week, we commemorate the Passion of Christ, who
dies on Good Friday, in reparation for our sins and
rose on Easter Sunday to bring us to new life. While,
Holy Week is solemn and sorrowful, we live in anticipation of the joy of Easter! Easter: the recognition of
God’s love in sending His Son, for our salvation. Of
primary importance for us as Catholics is the Easter
Triduum, the three days before Easter Sunday.
On Holy Thursday,
Thursday we celebrate The Lord’s Supper,
which He shared with His Apostles, on the night He
was betrayed. It is on Holy Thursday, at the Last Supper, that Jesus Christ instituted both the Eucharist
and the ministerial Priesthood.
Holy Week Schedule
On Good Friday,
Friday the day of Christ’s crucifixion and
death, we come as the People of God to venerate the
Cross, to give honor and respect for Christ’s sacrifice
for our sins.
Holy Thursday - March 28th Mass at 7:00 p.m. The
Church will remain open until 10:00 p.m. for Prayer.
Good Friday—
Friday—March 29th The annual Way of the
Cross for Life. The procession begins at the Most
Holy Saturday,
Saturday The Easter Vigil, we keep watch for
the expected rising of our Savior from the dead! This
was the day, Christ went down to the netherworld to
bring up with Him into heaven those who had died
before His coming. For before His death the gates of
heaven were closed because of the original sin of
Adam. By His dying on the Cross, He gained for us
salvation!
On this night those, who have spent months preparing to become members of the Church, are accepted
into our Catholic Family– a celebration of great joy!
Holy Redeemer Church at 9:00 a.m.
Good Friday Stations of the Cross at Noon. The
Church will remain open until 3:00 p.m.
Good Friday Passion Service at 7:00 p.m.
Holy Saturday Confessions noon to 1:00 p.m.
Easter Vigil March 30th at 7:00 p.m.
Easter Sunday Masses 8:30 and 10:00 a.m.
Easter Egg Hunt following the 10:00 a.m. Mass.

Mio Dio, mio Dio, perché mi hai abbandonato?
CRISTO VA INCONTRO ALLA MORTE CON LIBERTÀ DI FIGLIO
Si fanno beffe di me quelli che mi vedono,
storcono le labbra, scuotono il capo:
«Si rivolga al Signore; lui lo liberi,
lo porti in salvo, se davvero lo ama!».
Tutto l’impegno quaresimale di
penitenza e di conversione in questa
domenica viene focalizzato attorno al
momento cruciale del mistero di
Cristo e della vita cristiana: la croce
come obbedienza al Padre e
solidarietà con gli uomini, la
sofferenza del Servo del Signore
inseparabilmente congiunta alla gloria. La strada
che Gesù intraprende per salvare si pone in
contrasto con ogni più ragionevole attesa perché
egli sceglie non la forza e la ricchezza, ma la
debolezza e la povertà. Il compendio della
celebrazione odierna è offerto già nella monizione
che introduce la processione delle Palme: «Questa
assemblea liturgica è preludio alla Pasqua del
Signore... Gesù entra in Gerusalemme per dare
compimento al mistero della sua morte e
risurrezione... Chiediamo la grazia di seguirlo fino
alla croce per essere partecipi della sua
risurrezione».

Posso contare tutte le mie ossa.
Si dividono le mie vesti,
sulla mia tunica gettano la sorte.

L’INGRESSO
Rit: Osanna al Figlio di David, osanna al Redentor!
Cristo Gesù, pur essendo nella condizione di Dio,
non ritenne un privilegio l’essere come Dio,
ma svuotò se stesso assumendo una condizione di
servo, diventando simile agli uomini. Dall’aspetto
riconosciuto come uomo, umiliò se stesso
facendosi obbediente fino alla morte e a una morte di
croce. Per questo Dio lo esaltò e gli donò il nome
che è al di sopra di ogni nome, perché nel nome di
Gesù ogni ginocchio si pieghi nei cieli, sulla terra e
sotto terra, e ogni lingua proclami: «Gesù Cristo è
Signore!», a gloria di Dio Padre.

Il Signore Dio mi ha dato una lingua da discepolo,
perché io sappia indirizzare una parola allo
sfiduciato. Ogni mattina fa attento il mio orecchio
perché io ascolti come i discepoli. Il Signore Dio mi
ha aperto l’orecchio e io non ho opposto resistenza,
non mi sono tirato indietro. Ho presentato il mio
dorso ai flagellatori, le mie guance a coloro che mi
strappavano la barba; non ho sottratto la faccia
agli insulti e agli sputi. Il Signore Dio mi assiste,
per questo non resto svergognato, per questo rendo
la mia faccia dura come pietra, sapendo di non

La Domenica delle Palme è la domenica precedente
la festività della Pasqua; in essa la Chiesa celebra il
trionfale ingresso di Gesù a Gerusalemme in sella ad
un asino, osannato dalla folla che lo salutava agitando
rami di palma. La folla, radunata dalle voci dell'arrivo
di Gesù, stese a terra i mantelli, mentre altri
tagliavano rami dagli alberi di ulivo e di palma,
abbondanti nella regione, e agitandoli festosamente
lo acclamavano. Con la Domenica delle Palme ha
inizio la Settimana Santa. Non termina tuttavia la
Quaresima, che continua fino alla celebrazione
dell'ora nona del Giovedì Santo. Con la celebrazione
poi della Messa nella Cena del Signore ha inizio il
Sacro Triduo Pasquale. La Domenica delle Palme è
detta anche domenica della Passione del Signor,
perché in essa viene letto il racconto della Passione
di Gesù secondo uno dei Sinottici.
