Paola Devoti- Biography
Harpist Paola Devoti graduated in Italy from the Conservatory “G. Verdi” of Milan with
the highest marks, when she was very young. She attended Master Classes in France
with P. Jamet, J. Liber (lead harpist of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Israel), G.
Albisetti, S. Mildoniann. She also attended the Superior Conservatory of Geneva.
She has won several competitions, including City of Cento, the Apollo d'Oro in
Florence, Competitions and Auditions of many Orchestras, such as the
Mediterranean International Symphonic, the Opera of Rome and the Opera of
Suisse Romande in Geneva.
She has performed with many Italian and foreign orchestras, and has worked with
conductors such as Celibidache, Delman, Chailly and Bertini. Paola performed with
the Rai Symphonic Orchestra of Milan, often in the lead harpist role, as well as with
the Italian International Orchestra, with the Symphonic Orchestra of Izmir, with
the Symphonic Orchestra of the Balearic Islands and the Symphonic Orchestra
of Sanremo and with the Classic Orchestra of Alessandria.
Paola has recorded original contemporary and jazz music for various labels including
Stradivarius, M.A.P., Millennio and Bottega Discantica.
She has performed concerts in Italy and abroad as part of important events and
associations including Palazzo dei Papi in Viterbo, Campidoglio in Rome, Scala in
Milan, Pieve dei Castelli in Arezzo, Palazzo Trecchi and Palazzo Cittanova in
Cremona, Academic theatre of Bibiena, Basilica of S. Maria della Passione in
Milan and Gressoney International Festival of Chamber Music . She has
appeared as a soloist with orchestras and in different chamber groups (cello and harp,
violin and harp, flute and harp, harp quartet, flute, viola and harp for important
theaters in Italy and Germany).
She plays in the ensemble la "Variazione" together with the flutist Elena Cecconi.
The ensemble performs concerts and recitals in Italy and tours in Switzerland and
Japan. In 2007 and 2009 the ensemble was on tour in the US where they performed
many concerts in Florida, Illinois and Louisiana. The Ensemble recorded for
Bottega Discantica and performed at the Falaut Festival 2009. In this ensemble
Paola has the responsibility of reviewing music with the artists involved.
Paola has worked as musical director, performer and arranger during the production
of sacred music, including some of the passages performed at the Vatican City
during the Jubilee, as well as in other important Italian cathedrals.
In her latest project she appears as a performer, arranger and composer for harp solo
on popular jewish music melodies and pieces composed by contemporary composers.
